White House blinks: McD’s may get exemption from ObamaCare provision

Well, that didn't take long.  The White House message is this:  We'll allow whatever waivers are needed to keep the appearance of universal healthcare in place.  Losers.

ObamaCare has this provision:  McDonald's is among the retailers and restaurant chains that offer a "mini-med" limited benefit. Most of these plans don't meet a 2011 requirement that they spend 80% to 85% of premiums on medical benefits instead of overhead expenses.

McD's said:  McDonald's last week sent a top official at the Department of Health and Human Services a memo saying "it would be economically prohibitive for our carrier to continue offering" its "mini-med" limited benefit plan unless it got an exemption from the requirement.

The Administration responded:  "We fully intend to exercise her discretion under the new law to address the special circumstances of mini-med plans in the medical loss ratio calculations," said Jay Angoff, a director at the Department of Health and Human Services. "We intend to address these and other special circumstances in forthcoming regulations."

Yes, as opposed to facing the wrath of the hourly worker.  ObamaCare is collapsing under its own weight.  Even before the Republicans get their hands on it, the Administration is going to be passing out waivers like candy on Halloween.
