As FBI Probes Possible SEIU Corruption, FEC Shockingly Gives SEIU a Free Pass
On the same day that it is revealed that the FBI is investigating potential wrongdoing from former SEIU president Andy Stern's lucrative book deal, the Federal Election Commission has dismissed a complaint of election law violations, overruling even its own general counsel.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Times reported that ex-SEIU boss Andy Stern is the subject of an ongoing investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor and Federal Bureau of Investigations:
The FBI and the Labor Department are investigating prominent labor leader Andy Stern in a probe of corruption at the Service Employees International Union, according to two people who have been interviewed by federal agents.
The two organized labor officials met with federal agents this summer to answer questions about a six-figure book contract that Stern landed in 2006 and his role in approving money to pay the salary of Alejandro Stephens, a former SEIU leader in California who allegedly performed no work. The title of the book is "A Country That Works."
The union official Stern allegedly paid for "no show" job, Alejandro Stephens was, according to the Times, fired from his government job in early 2009 for refusing to return to work following an extended paid leave arranged by his ex-girlfriend (another high-ranking SEIU official), Annelle Grajeda.
Grajeda, who also is one of the SEIU's highest-ranking national officers, went on leave in August after the union opened an inquiry into whether she abused her position by helping Stephens, a county healthcare marketing representative, remain on the public payroll. She is still on leave, and the internal investigation is continuing, an SEIU spokeswoman said.
Stephens, who could not be reached for comment, has appealed his firing through Grajeda's SEIU chapter, Local 721, which represents about 80,000 social workers, nurses, sanitation drivers and other government workers. A civil service hearing is pending.
The firing took effect in December, after the county Health Services Department accused Stephens of insubordination for not reporting to work in September. Stephens had been on an eight-month leave for which the local had reimbursed the county, according to the union.
In March 2009, Annelle Grajeda resigned her post with the SEIU. Later, in September 2009, after pleading guilty to three federal charges, Stephens was sentenced to four months in prison and three months of home confinement for his role in defrauding a non-profit out of $52,000.
On Tuesday afternoon, in response to the LA Times and AP stories, Stern denied that he is the subject of an investigation.
""The stories appearing today in the L.A. Times and the on AP are simply false. I have absolutely no reason to believe, and not the slightest indication, that I am being investigated by federal authorities with respect to Alejandro Stephens, or A Country That Works, or for that matter anything else," he said.
Interestingly, although Stern was paid a $175,000 advance for his book, according to Politico's Ben Smith, the book did not sell enough copies for the publisher to earn back its advance.
Whether or not the FBI or the Labor Department turns anything up on Stern (doubtful in the latter's case since Stern and the SEIU pushed heavily for Hilda Solis's confirmation as President Obama's Secretary of Labor), the more intriguing story is the "mysterious" way in which the Federal Election Commission dismissed a complaint against the SEIU.
Fox News reports that the Federal Election Commission, even overruling its own general counsel, dismissed a complaint filed against the SEIU alleging that the purple union violated election laws.
Despite a finding by the Federal Election Commission's (FEC) general counsel that the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) violated election law when it required local affiliates to contribute to its political action fund, the FEC's full board nonetheless quietly voted to overrule its staff attorney and dismissed the original complaint, FOXNews.com reported Tuesday.
Moreover, the group that filed the complaint, the National Right to Work Foundation (NRWF), did not receive a full explanation of the FEC's decision in the case until after 111 days had passed, ensuring that its right to file an appeal had lapsed.
"They can't do that," said foundation president Mark Mix, who is vowing to challenge the commission's actions. "We will pursue the appeals process. We are working on it now."
He added he is prepared to file a new complaint, if necessary.
No one at the FEC "will speak in reference to this case," FEC spokeswoman Julia Queen told Fox News.
Queen defended the FEC's actions, and said it was the Right to Work Foundation's responsibility to file its appeal immediately after it received the one-page letter of dismissal — called a "Letter of Reasoning" — which is usually issued within 30 days of the decision and explains the basis for any decision.
But Bruce Cameron, the NRWF attorney who brought the case, said Queen's explanation does not make sense.
"To bring an appeal I have to show that the FEC abused its discretion. I can't do that with a simple dismissal letter," he said, adding that the FEC's logic in granting the dismissal made little sense. "They created a mystical distinction between the union and its membership that makes no sense," he said.
So, as the FBI and the Obama Labor Department may or may not be investigating Andy Stern, and while all sorts of shenanigans appear to be occurring around the country, the FEC sneakily dismisses a complaint against the SEIU, then waits until the time for appealing had lapsed before issuing its full decision.
One interesting side note for the NRTF attorneys to look into is whether the FEC's dismissal, which presumably gives the SEIU International the right to demand its locals to contribute to its political action fund establishes the clear controlling relationship that the SEIU has over its locals.
If so, then former SEIU general counsel (and current NLRB interim member) Craig Becker's ethically-challenged argument that the SEIU and its locals are "separate and distinct" has one more flaw.

DeMint puts the brakes on hot-lining refusing to allow bills to pass without a vote and irritates th
RWBNews: Even if you don't like DeMint, the fact he isn't going to let anymore money get spent is just priceless.
See full article at link: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/sep/28/hot-lining-on-the-hot-seat/
the concept of requiring at least 72 hours between a bill's introduction and the vote on final passage is popular, the Democrat-runCongress runs roughshod over requests for reasonable time to study legislation. Before congressional recesses, Senate leaders increasingly have relied on a procedure called "hot-lining" to pass bills without even a vote. While most senators are hot-tailing their way out of town, it's announced that bills are passed by unanimous consent unless a senator objects in person on the Senate floor. It's hard to object when you're already on a plane.
In 2007, for example, the Senate hot-lined into law an astonishing 855 bills with a total combined cost of at least $9 billion. That's not even taking into account the price tag for a host of bills that were rushed through so fast that they didn't carry an official cost analysis.
Enter Sen. Jim DeMint, South Carolina Republican. On Monday, he announced he will place objections to all unanimous-consent requests unless he and his staff have time to study and approve the bills. DeMintspokesman Wesley Denton explains, "If big spenders in Washington are going to try to ram through last-minute deficit spending, or new taxes, or new regulations, or major changes in current law, or expanding government programs, Sen. DeMint has put them on warning that he is going to object unless there is ample time to review these bills and address concerns."
Democratic leaders will complain that such principled politicking is obstructionism. Most Americans will call it good government.

The New “Change” In your face Lies and Corruption Part I
RWB News: You will not see a better example of "in your face" corruption by Obama, his administration and Unions than what is currently happening right now but not being reported by State Run Media.
It is so simple to see but the media tries to make it out like brain surgery. There are links to articles and videos that will show proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Obama and his administration is tied to corruption involving several left wing organizations, The first being Unions. Tomorrow you will see the connections to Obama and other radical groups that are currently making news but not being reported by the "state run media"…..all of them having a little rally in DC this weekend. A very simple circle of friends that the media helps hide.
The American People were already informed (not well) about the radical ties Obama kept close to his side in his days as a community organizer in the streets of Chicago and elected him President anyhow. Since America looked past all those connections from his past and felt it wasn't important, I am only going to focus on a few of the radicals and crooks that he has brought into the White house since being President. These radical associates are being accused of crimes that are considered treasonous and could result in corporal punishment if the whole truth be known. America should be outraged and worried at the same time.
Union leaders and Anti-War activist have their homes and offices raided by feds this past week …..Media silent
Several Liberal Left Wing Anti-War nuts had their homes and offices raided by the feds armed with search warrants this past weekend . Now, if you only watch the Main Street Media you may not of heard about this and figure it's not a big deal because they are not reporting on it. Well it should be talked about because the accusations listed in the search warrant are a VERY BIG DEAL.
Feds are accusing these radicals of aiding terror organizations like Hamas…..Yes, a liberal anti-war group and Union members aiding an enemy of the United States…..Not hard for some Americans to believe. I used to think actions like this would be a bigger news story, I mean these are crimes against the security interest of our country by a group of Americans "Homegrown terrorist" is what I believe the White House and the media refer to them as. I wonder why the media would be so silent? I have only seen the media this silent when it comes to Obama and the progressive agenda they are trying to ram down America's throats behind close doors. Well there is your answer once again.
It so happens one of the homes that was raided belongs to a man named Joseph Iosbaker. Joseph is Chief Steward for Local 73 of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU)…..The people you always see at an Obama pep rally's wearing purple t-shirts. Joseph Iosbaker is being investigated by the FBI for his connection to terrorist groups.
Now do you remember in 2008 Obama said "We are going to paint the nation purple with SEIU"? President Obama said this as he was giving a speech at a major banquet for unions at the time. Obama thanked them for helping change the streets of Chicago when he was also a community organizer.
Now do you remember when Obama told a group of black lawmakers last week "we must now guard the change"? SEIU thugs are well known for "guarding" the "change" set fourth by Obama. SEIU beat a black republican to a pulp and assaulted a lady in a wheelchair at a healthcare rally earlier this year "guarding" the "Change"…Silence from the "state run media".
The connection to Obama: Obama and the SEIU go back a long ways. Whenever you see an Obama pep rally, SEIU has the first 6 rows filled with union members. The person that visited the White House more than any other person last year was Andy Stern former SEIU President . The FBI and the U.S. Labor Dept. are investigating Andy Stern right now for charges of corruption. Andy also served as a close adviser to President Barack Obama on several committees….More "in your face" corruption and the media says nothing. Stern unexpectedly resigned in April as president of one of the most powerful unions in the nation. This news might explain why.
Just this week it was reported Former Service Employees International Union (SEIU) member Steve Caddle of Houston, Texas has been caught registering 23,207 fake voters in Harris County alone. Any person with common sense can see this pattern of corruption is condoned by Obama, the media and the "new" democratic party.
You can not make this stuff up if you wanted to. I don't need to bring up everything from the radical past of Obama and members of his administration, this stuff is happing right now!!!! The good news is November 2nd is right around the corner.

Federal Air Marshall confirms checkpoint operation on I-20 to deter would-be terrorist or criminal a
5:56 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution http://www.ajc.com/news/feds-involved-in-major-643211.html
Local law enforcement and federal agents conducted a checkpoint operation Tuesday afternoon in Douglas County, the Federal Air Marshal Service told the AJC.
"This is a live operation intent on deterring would-be terrorists or criminal activity," Nelson Minerly, spokesman for the federal agency, told the AJC.
The operation created a big distraction to motorists heading eastbound on I-20 in rush hour, and many motorists let the AJC and the WSB traffic center hear about it.
But the operation, which also involves the Transportation Security Administration, is top-secret before it happens, Minerly said.
"We don't advertise when they're going to happen or when they're going to be," Minerly said.
Mostly trucks were being checked, Minerly said. Shortly before 6 p.m., nothing had been recovered in the operation, he said.
"There's no specific threat," Jon Allen, regional spokesman for the TSA, told the AJC.

Leading EnviroNut Says We Are All Doomed…Doomed I Say!
Ah yes….this makes sense eh? (h/t Tom Nelson)
It may be too late to reverse some of the devastating effects of a warmer earth, author and environmentalist Bill McKibben told a standing-room only crowd at the College of the Holy Cross Monday night.
In a folksy cadence more akin to his roots as a Methodist Sunday school teacher than climate change activist, Mr. McKibben apologized in advance for "bumming people out," but declared the situation around the planet isn't good.
Having spent his career writing and reporting about climate change, Mr. McKibben said the planet is heating up faster than scientists had predicted.
Same old tune from this guy, here he is two years ago:
Act now, we're told, if we want to save the planet from a climate catastrophe. Trouble is, it might be too late. The science is settled, and the damage has already begun.
And he does his best writing books to scare any who will listen (granted, they might have a combined brain cell count of 2) that we're doomed….dooooooooomed I say:
Bill McKibben, probably the nation's leading environmentalist, argues in "Eaarth'' that we have already so thoroughly altered the physical features of the planet (to an extent that he has renamed it with an extra "a'') that we must start preparing for a radically simplified lifestyle. Important strands of environmental thought merge in McKibben's new book, making for some truly scary reading and prompting urgent questions about the nature of the environmental catastrophe at hand.
Sheesh, scary scary scary….whatever will we do?
Not listen to this nutcase for one:
The three warm-color time series are taken from Hansen's published testimony in June 1988 in which global surface air temperatures were projected under three scenarios by his global climate model.
The red curve follows a scenario (A) of continued emissions growth based on the previous 20 years before 1988 (which turned out to be an underestimate of actual emissions growth.) The orange represents a scenario (B) of fixed emissions at the rate achieved in the 1980s. The yellow curve portrays a scenario (C) in which "a drastic reduction" in GHG emissions is assumed for 1990-2000. The observations are global tropospheric temperatures adjusted to mimic the magnitude of surface temperature variability and trends according to published climate model simulations (i.e. a reduction in satellite anomalies by 0.83.)
So ah….warming more than scientists imagined…not so much.
The facts won't stop this guy tho. He said in 2008 that he can see riots and such coming from the hippies and greenies:
The big actions, like the one my friend's worked on at the C.I.A., are coming on the climate front, it's only a matter of time. Maybe sooner than we think as 350.org… founder Bill McKibben says- "It'll happen. Keep your eyes open in D.C.,"
And after getting rebuffed by the White House a few weeks ago admitted he is helping to lead the way in the planning of such events:
Actually, I'll be surprised if the White House doesn't put up solar panels within a year. But even if they do, that would just be the barest of beginnings. Which is why, with other environmental leaders, we recently issued a call for ideas about a campaign of civil disobedience next spring — at power plants and coal mines but at White Houses too, if they don't turn at least a little green.
One EnviroNut found the light….I don't think McKibben will tho, the mans a walking billboard of the apocalypse.

Yikes! Obama Tells Wisconsin Students “Change Is Gonna Come”
Please, Mr. President– No More Change.
Barack Obama is the worst jobs president since the Great Depression. The Obama-Pelosi economic plan resulted in a cumulative 7.5 million jobs deficit. By every objective measure the democrat's Trillion dollar stimulus bomb was a complete disaster.
Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi tripled the national deficit last year by nearly a trillion dollars – something unheard of in our nation's history.
After an unheard of record deficit last year of $1.4 Trillion the economy is on track to experience a $1.3 Trillion deficit this year.
Instead of focusing on the economy the past two years the radicals in Washington beat up on business and rammed through an unpopular nationalized health care entitlement program. Today 61% of voters want the democratic law repealed.
Today Barack Obama told Wisconsin college students that more change is coming.
The AP reported:
President Barack Obama is urging college students at a Wisconsin campaign rally to stick with him and vote in the Nov. 2 elections, promising that "change is gonna come."
Obama is trying to rally the Democratic base ahead of critical midterm elections that are expected to be dismal for the party.
Obama says Democrats who are upset with the pace of change he promised in 2008 should not let their frustration keep them away from the polls. He says that's how the Republicans will win and that they will take the country back to the policies that led to the nation's economic crisis.
Please, Mr. President, have mercy.

Congresswoman Calls for Repealing Hyde Amendment; Backs Assertion That Abortion is Safer than Childbirth
(CNSNews.com) — Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) said the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits federal funding of abortion except in certain cases, should be repealed, and also said "there's no evidence" that increasing access to abortion services encourages people to get abortions.
At an event on Capitol Hill sponsored by the Center for Reproductive Rights to call for the repeal of the Hyde Amendment, CNSNews.com asked Rep. Schakowsky, "So, increasing access to abortion, you think, does not encourage some people to get abortions?"
Rep. Schakowsky said, "No, there's no evidence of that around the world, where access to abortion is more available but somehow women are more inclined to get one."
"What happens is that women who don't have access resort, as we heard today, to very dangerous, self-inflicted kinds of things in order to end, terminate the pregnancy," she said. "And so, you know, we go back to back alley abortions. We go back to coat hangers. And, I mean, is that what we want?"
She continued, "Women who are desperate enough to do that to themselves are going to somehow – going to try to abort that pregnancy. We don't want to do that. We don't want to put women at greater risk."
Click here to view the embedded video.
Terry Sallas Merritt, vice president of Whole Woman's Health, said during the event on Capitol Hill that abortion is 10 times safer than childbirth.
CNSNews.com asked Rep. Schakowsky if she agreed with Merritt.
"I'm assuming that was on a scientific finding that the insistence of mortality or illness or whatever is an adverse health affect is much more common in childbirth," the congresswoman said. "There are many more things that can go wrong than a first-trimester abortion, but, as was pointed out, in order for poor women to afford an abortion, it may take them a long time to get the money together. They're put in a more precarious health situation, the risks increase as well as the cost."
"We want to make sure this very safe, outpatient procedure is available and accessible to poor women," said Rep. Schakowsky. "That is not to say that we don't want to also increase the availability of family planning, of birth control, which again, there's sometimes discrimination even in that."
"The very same people who vociferously oppose abortion often are not in favor of sex education, they're not in favor of easy access to contraception," she said. "None of it makes sense, and it's all discriminatory against women and their children."
CNSNews.com also asked Rep. Schakowsky if it is morally right to use the taxpayer funds of pro-life Americans to pay for abortion services.
"If we start down that path, then we say that people who don't want to fund wars don't have to pay taxes," she told CNSNews.com.
"You know, there are a number of things that are policies of the government in which many of us may disagree all over the map and, so, I would say that, you know, if as the Supreme Court did, decided that this is a right that women have, then we need to fulfill that obligation and make it accessible to all people," said the congresswoman. "Choice is about choice."
The Hyde Amendment, created in 1976, is attached each year to the annual appropriations bill for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and prevents any program under HHS, such as Medicaid, from paying for abortion except in the cases of rape, incest, or where the life of the mother is at risk.

New “credible” terror threat has CIA bombarding Pakistan jihadis with drone strikes
At least 20 separate strikes in 28 days this month so far, an unprecedented pace. And it’s paid off: According to Bill Roggio, a missile attack a few days ago might have killed Al Qaeda’s new operational commander in Pakistan. Follow the first link to the Journal and you’ll find only a few bare details about the terror plot they’re trying to disrupt — the main target is Europe, the Haqqani network in Afghanistan might be involved, but very little beyond that. Luckily, ABC has been digging and has new info:
US and European officials said Tuesday they have detected a plot to carry out a major, coordinated series of new terror attacks in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and possibly the United States…Why is the U.S. worried about a plot involving German jihadis? Because, as ABC notes, German citizens don’t need a visa to enter the U.S. The Bagram prisoner who tipped them to the plot is reportedly a jihadi named Ahmad with ties to the same mosque in Hamburg patronized by some of the 9/11 hijackers and only recently shut down by German authorities. He was allegedly picked up in early July — and yet only in the past few weeks has the CIA ramped up the drone attacks in Pakistan. Is that because Ahmad didn’t spill the beans about the attack until recently or was it only within the last few weeks that some sort of corroborating evidence discovered suggesting that the attack is in motion?
Intelligence and law enforcement authorities in the US and Europe said the threat information is based on the interrogation of a suspected German terrorist allegedly captured on his way to Europe in late summer and now being held at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.
US law enforcement officials say they have been told the terrorists were planning a series of “Mumbai-style” commando raids on what were termed “economic or soft” targets in the countries…
The captured German reportedly said several teams of attackers, all with European passports, had been trained and dispatched from training camps in Waziristan and Pakistan. Officials say the German claimed the attack plan had been approved by Osama Bin Laden.
There’s not much else to say for now, but I’m putting it on your radar screen in so that you have some context if you hear about any terror scares in Europe over the next few days. Like, for instance, this one. If you can spare the time, it’s also worth reading this NYT report on the newly ramped-up drone campaign, as it offers an altogether different motive for the strikes. The “terror threat” theory is that a plot might be in motion and thus it’s crucial to disrupt communications by forcing jihadi commanders to go to ground. The Times’s theory is that Petraeus has lost patience with Pakistan’s promises to attack the Taliban’s safe havens across the border and is enlisting the CIA to help do the job that Islamabad won’t do. There’s a little tidbit about a terror threat buried way down in the article, but it’s almost an afterthought compared to the broader strategic goal of debilitating the Taliban vis-a-vis their capacities in Afghanistan. Exit question: Could the feds be emphasizing the terror-plot angle in order to justify escalating the drone campaign over Pakistani objections? It’s one thing to say we need to go all-out across the border because it serves our war ends, it’s another to say we need to do it as an emergency defensive measure because we’re facing an imminent attack. Pakistan will complain either way, but the second reason makes it easier to ignore them than the first.
US/Russian nuclear treaty briefing to be given to Senate on Wednesday amid worries about Moscow compliance
RWBNews: The nuclear treaty with Russia requires a 30% cut in warheads. Why would Obama enter into anything like this? That’s right. His pledge to reduce nuclear arms and make a level playing field. What a great strategy! The treaty would need to be ratified this fall.
http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.29e5f9ae941bd52cd3e12c591e89ab19.3c1&show_article=1
US spy chief James Clapper will brief senators Wednesday on intelligence issues tied to a landmark nuclear treaty with Russia, amid worries aboutMoscow’s compliance, aides said Tuesday.
Clapper, the US director of national intelligence, will head to the capitol in the early evening, one official said on condition of anonymity. Another confirmed that the briefing would occur without specifying a timeframe.
The US Senate is expected to vote on ratifying the new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) after November elections that are expected to deal a blow to President Barack Obama’s Democratic allies in the congress.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee endorsed the agreement in a 14-4 vote on September 16 even after one of the panel’s Republican members, Senator James Risch, said the US intelligence community had shared “troubling” new information with lawmakers.
Lawmakers were tight-lipped about the details, but the top Republican on theSenate Intelligence Committee, Kit Bond, warned in a statement about “the treaty’s lack of verification necessary to detect Russian cheating.”
Asked whether there was anything new given longstanding allegations of Russian non-compliance, Risch told reporters: “You haven’t seen the same stuff I’ve seen,” but would not elaborate.
The treaty — signed by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Obama at an elaborate ceremony in Prague in April — restricts each nation to a maximum of 1,550 deployed warheads, a cut of about 30 percent from a limit set in 2002.
The agreement, a top Obama foreign policy initiative, replaces a previous accord that lapsed in December 2009 and also requires ratification by Russia’s lower house, the Duma.
US Senate ratification requires 67 votes, Democrats control 59 seats, and just three Republicans on the foreign relations committee voted in favor of the accord, with four against.
Republicans have charged the accord could hamper US missile defense plans — a charge denied by the Pentagon — have concerns about Russian implementation, and want assurances about plans to modernize the existing US nuclear arsenal.
Lame Duck Agenda Grows
The lame duck agenda that Democratic leadership poopooed for months is growing.
Remember back in July when the left swore there was "no secret plan!"? This scoffing was followed closely by saying a lame duck session was "pretty preposterous and straight out of the black-helicopter wing of GOP thinking."
Now would be a good time to say "who's laughing now" if this weren't such a completely unlaughable matter. Nervous about elections and eager to avoid making any decisions or tough votes, Democrats are now planning on squeezing in at least 20 bills after the Nov. 2nd election.
Democrats are considering cramming as many as 20 pieces of legislation into the lame-duck session they plan to hold after the Nov. 2 election. The list of bills to be now includes things like
The array of bills competing for floor time shows the sense of urgency among Democratic lawmakers to act before the start of the 112th Congress, when Republicans are expected to control more seats in the Senate and House.
- defense authorization
- the DREAM Act
- unemployment benefit extension
- renewable electricity standards
- Medicare doc reinbursements
- cybersecurity
- an arms treaty with Russia
- mine safety
- EPA suspension
- currency manipulation
- food safety
- child nutrition
These are major pieces of legislation - a far cry from the "mopping up" Democratic leaders claim they have to do, as if they were tidying the House for the new members and not going in with a bulldozer.
Tackling these big pieces of legislation during a lame duck session without any sense of accountability post-election would be a clear violation of the will of the people.

New claims about who is the money-man behind the Ground Zero Mosque also lead to new developments that there already is a Mosque in lower Manhattan (video)
By Charles Leaf Video in link http://www.myfoxny.com/dpp/news/beliefnet/new-mosque-in-lower-manhattan-20100927
MYFOXNY.COM – A mosque not too far from Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan is now active — and it’s not the one causing all the controversy. Hisham Elzanaty’s attorney spoke to Fox 5 about a new mosque at 30 Cliff Street.
Elzanaty, the majority owner in the controversial proposed mosque two blocks from the World Trade Center site, told Fox 5′s Charles Leaf last week that he only picked the site because he thought it would be a great place to pray.
Now there is such a place, so Elzanaty’s attorney went to check it out.
“I had the pleasure of meeting the imam, I spoke with him today,” said Wolodymyr Starosolsky. “The people were very kind and very courteous.”
Elzanaty and his attorney are now considering whether this location is good enough to replace the project near Ground Zero.
Starosolsky said there are just proposals, ideas.
“There is a long road to go before you get to the end,” he said. He also stressed that the person who is the ultimate decision maker is Elzanaty.
In the days ahead, Elzanaty plans to meet with the imam of this new mosque and the families of 9/11 victims. He is reassessing the project near Ground Zero.
The Anatomy of a Hostile Government Takeover
To distract the public from these power plays, the administration decided to launch a series of “information” campaigns that are plainly political and filled with all manner of distortions. HHS sent a letter to the nation’s Medicare beneficiaries supposedly explaining what the new law will mean for them. Somehow, it failed to mention that the law will cut Medicare by half a trillion dollars over a decade, and cut the value of Medicare Advantage by an average of 27 percent by 2017. HHS followed this up by putting the same distortions on television, in the form of an expensive advertising campaign featuring Andy Griffith.
In the meantime, busy beavers in various corners of the federal bureaucracy are laying plans for new fiefdoms. Thousands of new employees are planned for various offices in HHS, including the new office to regulate private health insurance nationwide. The IRS is gearing up both to enforce with tax penalties the requirement that everyone carry government-approved insurance, and to help administer the massive new entitlement program that will require income verification on tens of millions of applicants. States will also be forced to build new bureaucracies to carry out the scores of tasks the federal government will be ordering them to perform.
Massive bureaucracy. Disinformation campaigns. Blatant power plays. The politicization of decisions that should be made with a focus on patient care. The use of government power to threaten citizens and their livelihood.
This is what Obamacare has brought us. And that’s just in its first six months.

Seniors On Medicare Lose Their Insurance – Thanks To Obamacare
Update: National Review has a good recap of “Obamacare @ 6 Months” and how all signs indicate those who opposed Obamacare were right and the supporters of Obamacare were – at best – misleading:
Two weeks ago, HHS secretary Kathleen Sebelius sent a letter to the nation’s insurers with a plainly stated threat: Either the insurers conform to the political agenda of the administration and describe the reasons for premium increases in terms acceptable to the Democratic party, or they will be shut out entirely from the government-managed insurance marketplace. What could possibly have provoked a cabinet secretary to launch such an indiscriminate broadside against an entire industry? Simple: A handful of insurers had dared to utter the truth, noting that the new law has imposed costly insurance mandates that will raise premiums for everyone. For that offense, the federal government has essentially threatened to put the truth-telling insurers out of business.Orwell was just a tad too early in his prediction of Big Brother. Oppressive government hit the US in 2008, not 1984. Obamacare killed the Democrat Party. Lesson #2 from November. Lesson #1: government cannot stimulate ecomomic growth, that has to come from the private sector. The corollary: Big Government and out of control spending can snuff out even the world’s largest and strongest economy. - end update
…
Recall that President Obama took more than a year to settle on Dr. Berwick as his nominee to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) — and then moved in a matter of weeks to put him in place without Senate confirmation. The president tried to blame Republicans for this blatant end-run around constitutional checks and balances, even though Democrats control the Senate and could have held a hearing and a vote if they had wanted to. The truth is that Democrats didn’t want Dr. Berwick to be confirmed in the Senate. They wanted him on the job, for sure, because he is an ardent government-takeover enthusiast, and is prepared to use all of the levers at his disposal to advance that objective. The president and his Democratic allies just wanted to get Dr. Berwick in place without the public’s really noticing.
Well Madam Speaker, we are clearly getting a glimpse of how Obamacare will force most Americans off their current insurance plans, even those on Medicare:
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care has notified customers that it will drop its Medicare Advantage health insurance program at the end of the year, forcing 22,000 senior citizens in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine to seek alternative supplemental coverage. So Obama lied when he said you can keep your current coverage – big surprise there. Seniors were the ones most duped by Obama’s lofty and misleading rhetoric on health care. He has always been a big proponent of death panels through rationing. And now we see the fruits of all his bribes in the Senate to get his government take-over of health care passed.
It is no surprise democrats are an endangered species this election (and will be for many election cycles to come). They lied to America as they took from them one of their most sacred possessions – their health care coverage. Now the government is in charge of deciding who shall live and who shall be called to give the ultimate sacrifice to their fellow (younger) citizens.
Everyone knows this election is critical to the survival of this nation and its people.

Rolling Stone interview shows Obama unable to accept responsibility for his actions
RWBNews: The article is 13 pages long. I'll be taking excerpts out here. Reading the full article brings to light the victim role Obama plays in the political game of responsibility and how he continues to never hold himself, his policies or his Administration up to any type of faults or personal responsibility for any of their tactics. The full article also shows the edit (read lies) Obama puts in place to rationalize events, exaggerate his importance, experience, continue the racial divide game and deflect any blame shining in his direction for his constant attacks and threats to anyone that disagrees with him.

Obama on bipartisanship
I still remember going over to the Republican caucus to meet with them and present our ideas, and to solicit ideas from them before we presented the final package. And on the way over, the caucus essentially released a statement that said, "We're going to all vote 'No' as a caucus." And this was before we'd even had the conversation. At that point, we realized that we weren't going to get the kind of cooperation we'd anticipated.
The strategy the Republicans were going to pursue was one of sitting on the sidelines, trying to gum up the works, based on the assumption that given the scope and size of the recovery, the economy probably wouldn't be very good, even in 2010, and that they were better off being able to assign the blame to us than work with us to try to solve the problem.
Obama on the constant attacks and plots to stop his policies
I had served in the United States Senate; I had seen how the filibuster had become a routine tool to slow things down, as opposed to what it used to be, which was a selective tool —although often a very destructive one, because it was typically targeted at civil rights and the aspirations of African-Americans who were trying to be freed up from Jim Crow. But I'd been in the Senate long enough to know that the machinery there was breaking down.
But the delays, the cloture votes, the unprecedented obstruction that has taken place in the Senate took its toll. Even if you eventually got something done, it would take so long and it would be so contentious, that it sent a message to the public that "Gosh, Obama said he was going to come in and change Washington, and it's exactly the same, it's more contentious than ever."
What Obama thinks the GOP is today
Well, on the economic front, their only agenda seems to be tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. If you ask their leadership what their agenda will be going into next year to bring about growth and improve the job numbers out there, what they will say is, "We just want these tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, which will cost us $700 billion and which we're not going to pay for."
Obama on the misguided Tea-Party
And then there are probably some aspects of the Tea Party that are a little darker, that have to do with anti-immigrant sentiment or are troubled by what I represent as the president.
There are some strong and sincere libertarians who are in the Tea Party who generally don't believe in government intervention in the market or socially. There are some social conservatives in the Tea Party who are rejecting me the same way they rejected Bill Clinton, the same way they would reject any Democratic president as being too liberal or too progressive. There are strains in the Tea Party that are troubled by what they saw as a series of instances in which the middle-class and working-class people have been abused or hurt by special interests and Washington, but their anger is misdirected.
Tea Party folks together, are financed by very conservative industries and forces that are opposed to enforcement of environmental laws, that are opposed to an energy policy that would be different than the fossil-fuel-based approach we've been taking, that don't believe in regulations that protect workers from safety violations in the workplace, that want to make sure that we are not regulating the financial industries in ways that we have.
This body politic took a big hit in the gut, and that always roils up our politics, and can make people angry. But because of the ability of a lot of very well-funded groups to point that anger — I think misdirect that anger — it is translating into a relevant political force in this election.
Obama on Fox News
Look, as president, I swore to uphold the Constitution, and part of that Constitution is a free press. We've got a tradition in this country of a press that oftentimes is opinionated. The golden age of an objective press was a pretty narrow span of time in our history. Before that, you had folks like Hearst who used their newspapers very intentionally to promote their viewpoints. I think Fox is part of that tradition — it is part of the tradition that has a very clear, undeniable point of view. It's a point of view that I disagree with. It's a point of view that I think is ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class and is competitive in the world.

Democrats to stuff 20 bills into post-election lame-duck session
Bills that have been painstakingly negotiated may have to be overhauled if Republicans control the House next year or pick up half a dozen Senate seats.
By Alexander Bolton at The Hill
EXCERPTS:
The array of bills competing for floor time shows the sense of urgency among Democratic lawmakers to act before the start of the 112th Congress, when Republicans are expected to control more seats in the Senate and House.
Democratic leaders have also prioritized the defense authorization bill, which includes a repeal of the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy that bans gays from serving openly in the military.
Sen. Dick Durbin (Ill.), the chamber's second-ranking Democrat, has promised to push for a vote on the DREAM Act, which would give the children of illegal immigrants a chance to earn legal residence.

Obama Gang’s Black Panther Misinformation — Scandal “Roars Back to Life”
Two top political appointees at the DOJ were involved in the decision to dismiss the voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense (NBPP).
Tom Fitton, President Judicial Watch
Obama administration officials repeatedly denied that politics had anything to do with its Justice Department's (DOJ) decision to abandon its lawsuit against the Black Panthers, a "civil rights" group that brandished weapons, blocked a polling station and hurled racial insults at voters on Election Day 2008. In fact, at least one Justice Department official swore to it under oath.
But according to evidence uncovered by Judicial Watch this week, this is yet another Obama administration falsehood.
On September 21, we released a draft Vaughn index prepared by the DOJ that shows that the two top political appointees at the DOJ were involved in the decision to dismiss the voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense (NBPP).
The index, which we acquired pursuant to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, describes documents the government is withholding from the public. Among those documents are internal DOJ emails regarding the Black Panther case between the highest political appointees inside the DOJ, including former Deputy Attorney General David Ogden and the Associate Attorney General Thomas Perrelli, the second and third ranking officials at the DOJ.
Here's one example: A May 10, 2009, email from Associate Attorney General Perrelli to Deputy Associate Attorney General and former Democratic election lawyer Sam Hirsh. "Where are we on the Black Panther case?" Perrelli asks in the subject header. The email also includes Deputy Attorney General Ogden's "current thoughts on the case."
Does this sound like Perrelli and Ogden were on the outside looking in at the Black Panther decision? Not a chance. But wait, there's more.
Another email, from former Acting Assistant Attorney General Loretta King, dated May 12, 2009, was distributed to Attorney General Eric Holder through Odgen and Perrelli. Entitled, "Weekly Report for the Week ending May 8, 2009," the email "Identifies matters deemed significant and highlights issues for the senior offices, including an update on a planned course of action in the NBPP (New Black Panther Party) litigation."
Now, as I mentioned, the evidence uncovered by Judicial Watch directly contradicts the sworn testimony of a top Obama White House official.
Attorney General Thomas Perez testified before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights on May 14, 2010. The Commission, an independent, bipartisan unit of the federal government charged with investigating and reporting on civil rights issues, initiated a probe of the DOJ's decision to drop its lawsuit. During the hearing, Perez was asked directly regarding the involvement of political leaders in the decision to dismiss the Black Panther case. And here's the exchange:
COMMISSIONER KIRSANOW: Was there any political leadership involved in the decision not to pursue this particular case any further than it was?
ASST. ATTY. GEN. PEREZ: No. The decisions were made by Loretta King in consultation with Steve Rosenbaum, who is the Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General.
Perez also suggested that the dispute was merely "a case of career people disagreeing with career people."
Well now we know this is false. And we have the evidence to prove it.

Overall, the index describes 122 documents (totaling at least 611 pages) that the Obama DOJ is withholding from the public in their entirety. A federal court hearing in the matter is scheduled on October 5, 2010, in Washington, DC, before U.S. District Court Judge Reggie B. Walton. We plan to ask the Court to require the Obama DOJ to release these (and other) secret documents about this scandal and its cover-up.
But we're not stopping there.
In a separate but related matter, Judicial Watch also filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit this week against the DOJ to obtain records related to meetings between Perrelli and White House officials regarding the Black Panther decision.
Here's what we're after: "Any and all records of Associate Attorney General Thomas J. Perrelli concerning meetings with the White House on the Justice Department's voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party. The time frame for this request is from January 20, 2009, to June 15, 2009."
On March 26, 2010, the DOJ informed Judicial Watch that it had conducted a search for documents, and found "no records responsive to [JW's] request."
But we found this extremely difficult to believe. After all, a number of press outlets have reported at least nine meetings between Perrelli and White House officials between March 25 and May 27, 2009, regarding the Black Panther case. So we got tired of the run-around and sued.
Why should anyone believe the DOJ's story regarding Perrelli's meetings? We now know DOJ officials falsely stated that no political appointees were involved in the Black Panther decision. We know the DOJ continues to withhold hundreds of pages of records that could shed light on this scandal. And we know multiple press reports came to the same conclusion: Perrelli met with the White House specifically on the Black Panther matter. And the DOJ cannot find a single record related to these meetings?
Our good work has garnered tremendous attention, including coverage in The Washington Examiner, Investors Business Daily, and The Washington Times (The Times editorial is entitled, "Black Panther case roars back to life.") I'm also scheduled to appear on Fox News this weekend. (I'll send you details in a separate email.)
We've done three news releases on this issue alone this week so developments are breaking fast. For instance, I just returned from attending a hearing of U.S. Commission on Civil Rights during which there was much explosive discussion and testimony regarding not only our work but generally corrupt policies at the Obama/Holder DOJ. I'll have more for you on that next week.
Stay tuned…
Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. Nabbed in Double Scandal
The trial of scandal-ridden former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich came to an unjust conclusion weeks ago, as Blago was largely let off the hook for his crimes. But as the government plans its second attempt to prosecute the case, news continues to break regarding Blagojevich's scheme to sell President Obama's then-vacant Senate seat to the highest bidder.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times:
U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) said Tuesday he is "deeply sorry" for having "disappointed some supporters" regarding his relationship with a female "social acquaintance."
But the congressman vowed to stay in office in the wake of a Chicago Sun-Times report that a major political fund-raiser has told federal authorities that Jackson directed him to offer former Gov. Rod Blagojevich millions of dollars in campaign cash in return for an appointment for Jackson to the U.S. Senate, to succeed President Obama.
As you may recall, Jackson's connections to the Blagojevich scandal landed him on Judicial Watch's list of Washington's "Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians" for 2009. As the Chicago Sun-Times reported back then, emissaries for Jesse Jackson Jr., named "Senate Candidate A" in the Blagojevich indictment, reportedly offered $1.5 million to Blagojevich during a fundraiser if he named Jackson Jr. to Obama's seat. And three days later federal authorities arrested Blagojevich.
So Jackson is partially correct when he says (as he did this week) that these allegations are "not new." But what is new, however, is that Jackson Jr.'s fundraiser, Raghuveer Nayak, has come forward to personally tell investigators that Jackson Jr. asked him to offer not $1.5 million, but a whopping $6 million in campaign cash to Blagojevich to secure the Senate seat!
And here's something else new that emerged this week. Apparently Jackson asked Nayak to "pay to fly a Washington, D.C., restaurant hostess named Giovana Huidobro — described as a 'social acquaintance' of the Democratic congressman — to Chicago to visit him." Nayak reportedly did so twice.
We all know what "social acquaintance" means under these circumstances. Jackson Jr. says this is a "private and personal matter between me and my wife." But not if it involved public funds, an issue that remains unsettled.
So too is Jackson Jr.'s political future. The Chicago congressman was rumored to be in the crowded field of candidates running for Mayor of Chicago, a possibility that seems more remote in light of recent developments.
Now that Jackson Jr.'s political stock is dropping through the basement floor, the press is chattering about the possibility of Chicago native and current White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel leaving the White House and throwing his hat into the ring to serve as Chicago's next mayor.
But here's the thing. Emanuel also has a Blagojevich problem.
As I've told you previously, the government cut short its Blagojevich prosecution to avoid implicating White House officials at the highest levels, including Emanuel. According to Judicial Watch blogger Irene Garcia, who did some excellent reporting from the trial, Blagojevich repeatedly ferried messages to President Obama through Emanuel. For example, Blagojevich's former Chief of Staff John Harris testified that Blagojevich asked him to call Emanuel to see if the president was "still in agreement" that the Senate seat should go to…
…You guessed it, Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr.
Only in Chicago.
JW Sues Labor for Docs Related to Federal Program to Get Illegals "Fair Pay"
In the last few weeks I've told you about the various ways the Obama administration is trying to bypass Congress and the will of the American people to enact stealth amnesty — to effectively bestow citizenship on individuals who broke our laws and continue to live and work in the shadows.
Well, now I'd like to tell you about a federal program that helps aliens to earn "fair pay" while they're still saddled with their "illegal" status.
It's called the "We Can Help" program and it is designed to help "vulnerable and underpaid" illegal alien workers obtain fair wages "regardless of immigration status." The campaign, launched by the Labor Department under the auspices of the Wage and Hour Division in April 2010, encourages illegal aliens to contact the government for assistance in earning fair wages from employers.
Judicial Watch initiated an investigation of this program in July by filing a FOIA request with Labor. After the agency stonewalled, we filed a lawsuit. Here's what we're after:
Any and all records of complaints by undocumented workers under the Wage and Hour Division's "We Can Help" Program. The time frame for this request is April 1, 2010 until July 9, 2010.
Any and all records of the policies and procedures of the Wage and Hour Division's "We Can Help" program concerning, regarding, or relating to complaints received from an undocumented worker. The time frame for this request is April 1, 2010 until July 9, 2010.
According to a Department of Labor press release announcing "We Can Help:"
The campaign…underscores that wage and hour laws apply to all workers in the United States, regardless of immigration status.
The release also indicates that 250 new field investigators had been added to the government payroll to target employers who deny workers their "rightful wage."
Here I must pause. How can someone be entitled to a "rightful wage," when they have no legal "right" to work in the country? My understanding is that the law requires that labor and wage protections apply to all residents, legal or illegal. But one might question the emphasis of the ideologues at Labor. Is the suggestion that illegal aliens aren't making enough money in illegal work the most pressing enforcement issue for the U.S. Department of Labor?
In a public service announcement promoting the campaign, available in both English and Spanish, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis says, "Remember, every worker in America has a right to be paid fairly whether documented or not." (You can check it out for yourself here.) She then encourages workers to contact the government's new toll free hotline for a "confidential" consultation. The government also has a website dedicated to the "We Can Help Program" as well and has recruited celebrity spokespersons such as actor Jimmy Smits to help promote the campaign. (Click here and scroll down to see Mr. Smits' public service announcement.)
Now the fact that Hilda Solis is behind all of this does not come as a shock. She has long-time ties to the radical organization The National Council of La Raza (also known as the National Council of "The Race"). In fact, she even has photos of her speech before the organization in 2009 on the Department of Labor website. (You'll have to sit through quite a bit of the slide show to see the photo, but it's there.)
The National Council of La Raza presents itself as a "mainstream organization," but is nothing of the sort. The organization openly lobbies for open borders and illegal alien amnesty. And as Judicial Watch noted in this special report, "The National Council of The Race" also funds a number of Mexican anti-American charter schools that serve as a training ground for the Mexican reconquista movement, which seeks to conquer the American Southwest — by force or by ballot box — and return it to Mexico.
I encourage you to click here to read the report and see the kinds of people connected to our Secretary of Labor.
This "We Can Help" campaign demonstrates just how backward the Obama administration is when it comes to dealing with illegal immigration. On the one hand the Obama White House attacks the State of Arizona for passing a law to enforce federal immigration law. And on the other the administration uses taxpayer funds to help and encourage illegal aliens to continue violating the law.
No wonder the Obama Labor Department is stonewalling the release of any documents that could shed light on this scandalous waste of taxpayer resources. Rest assured we'll keep after it in court.
Until next week…
