Hartford CT City Council to begin meetings with Muslim prayer

This country was founded by Christians to glorify Jesus Christ. The Founding Fathers were Christians. The very authors of the 1st amendment used federal money to build churches, print Bibles, and promote (but not establish) Christianity. Church service was held in the Capitol building and most other federal buildings. You can still see that history in the Capitol building itself:

Liberals are aghast at such history, and do their best to strike it all from public school curriculum for starters. And we are not only under attack from liberal progressives, but from radical Islam that wants to wipe the US and Israel of the face of the planet, either by nuclear explosion or by subverting society from within, imposing Sharia law in place of the US Constitution dooming this country to be just a Muslim caliphate. Idiot liberals like those on the Hartford, Connecticut City Council are all too willing to help them along. From NBC Connecticut:

In the wake of the battle over a mosque at Ground Zero, a move by the Hartford City Councilis sure to have its critics.

The Council announced Tuesday that it has invited local imams to perform Islamic invocations at the beginning of the Council meetings in September.

An e-mail from the Common Council called it "an act of solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters."

The email even referenced the ongoing issue in New York. "One of the goals of the Council is to give a voice to the many diverse peoples of the City, which is especially important given the recent anti-Islam events throughout the country."

Council President rJo Winch called it an important move for the Council.

"I feel it is very important that, as a Council, we project a culture of inclusiveness in the City of Hartford. Too often it is our differences that divide us. In my opinion, it is our combination of differences that makes us strong," Winch said.

That's the problem with liberals, the feel rather than think. The City Council's actions are akin to sheep appeasing the wolves.There is perhaps no sweeter tasting victory for Muslims than dominating and then desecrating Christianity: Reason #3,926 not to build Ground Zero mosque: Muslims building mosque on Christian graveyard in Pakistan. I'm just waiting for the Council President to declare "we will see peace in our time!"

Florida College Shuts Down Conservative Event After Seeing Anti-Obama Literature (Video)

It begins… School officials at Palm Beach State College kicked members of the Young America's Foundation off campus after they saw anti-Obama literature at their table.
It was offensive.

Administrators and Campus Police Kick YAF members off campus after seeing anti-Obama literature at their table.

Other college groups were allowed to stay on campus despite not registering for the event.
Orlando Political Press reported:

On Tuesday September 7, 2010 at around 11:00am one Palm Beach State College (PBSC) student and two Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) members, state chairman Daniel P. Diaz and state vice chairman Eddie Shaffer, were shut down and had campus police called on them after tabling and recruiting during club rush at the College. The PBSC student, Christina Beattie, had received prior permission from college administrator Olivia Ford-Morris to promote her organization on campus via telephone and email communication.

On the day of club rush, officials approached the group and after seeing information about the organization and its ideals criticizing Barack Obama's economic policy. Ms. Ford-Morris was visibly disturbed by the material presented, published by the Heritage Foundation, criticizing President Obama's administration. College officials then called the campus police to assure the group left campus. Ms. Ford-Morris denied having ever talked to Ms. Beattie about giving permission to the organization to be a part of PBSC club rush.

"I was shocked and offended by her dishonesty. She outright denied giving me permission to table at Club Rush simply because she disagreed with my beliefs! The fact is, she was using her administrative power to silence the conservative opposition." said Christina Beattie.

Christina Beattie, a student at PBSC has been the lead organizer of a weeklong recruitment event for YAF. Christina saw a need for a conservative club on campus and decided to create a YAF Chapter. Beattie inquired with college Student Activities Coordinator, Ms. Olivia Ford-Morris, via email about being allowed to recruit at the college rush. To Christina's surprise Ms. Ford-Morris called her and allowed the group to table at the event.

Other groups on campus attended the event and tabled, but had not registered with the student activities coordinator. These groups remained untouched and were allowed to recruit even without permission. The Film Club, one of the groups not authorized to participate in the event, declined to comment for fear of reprisal from college administration.

35% of Porkulus Has NOT Been Spent Yet-But POTUS Asking For More

When I was growing up, my Mom always told me that I should finish what was on my plate before I asked for more, perhaps President Obama should follow my Mother's advice.  When the stimulus bill was passed nineteen months ago, we were told that the nearly billion dollars of new federal spending would be invested in "shovel ready projects," much of it on infrastructure. That, as Congressman Wilson might say, is a lie.

While the American economy continues to sink into the toilet 19 months after the passage of the porkulus bill, 35% of the money from the legislation has not been spent.

Using the data from ProPublica, the chart below shows that almost $280 of the $790 billion original fiscal stimulus program is still in the system  either unspent or in progress' total 35% of the total

This $278 billion will likely be delivered by the end of 2010, and it's a huge sum for just four months. Obviously the Democrats were so sure that the first 65% would work, they gambled on the remaining dollars hitting around election day. Oops that didn't work .


Now the President wants to spend even more on infrastructure. Over the weekend he announced

he wants to borrow another $50 Billion from countries like China so we can initiate new shovel-ready projects. Even though almost 6 times that money has yet to be spent from the first stimulus. And just like the first stimulus, this money will not be spent for more than a year. Earlier this week senior presidential advisers told Fox, that despite what the president said, under even the most optimistic scenarios, no jobs would be created until next year.

Or to put another way, this latest Obama stimulus effort is designed not to stimulate the economy, but to stimulate Democratic party votes in close congressional races, this November.

Democrats Force Last US Light Bulb Plant to Close Shop

The radical left forced the last US light bulb plant to close its doors. From now on we will import all of green bulbs from China.
The Washington Post reported, via FOX Nation:

The last major GE factory making ordinary incandescent light bulbs in the United States is closing this month, marking a small, sad exit for a product and company that can trace their roots to Thomas Alva Edison's innovations in the 1870s.

The remaining 200 workers at the plant here will lose their jobs.

"Now what're we going to do?" said Toby Savolainen, 49, who like many others worked for decades at the factory, making bulbs now deemed wasteful.

During the recession, political and business leaders have held out the promise that American advances, particularly in green technology, might stem the decades-long decline in U.S. manufacturing jobs. But as the lighting industry shows, even when the government pushes companies toward environmental innovations and Americans come up with them, the manufacture of the next generation technology can still end up overseas.

What made the plant here vulnerable is, in part, a 2007 energy conservation measure passed by Congress that set standards essentially banning ordinary incandescents by 2014. The law will force millions of American households to switch to more efficient bulbs.

The resulting savings in energy and greenhouse-gas emissions are expected to be immense. But the move also had unintended consequences.

Rather than setting off a boom in the U.S. manufacture of replacement lights, the leading replacement lights are compact fluorescents, or CFLs, which are made almost entirely overseas, mostly in China.

For the record:
212 democrats voted for this bill. 178 Republicans voted against the bill.
