Republicans Return A$$ to Its Rightful Owner

The Republicans delivered a present to the DNC last night.
The Hill reported:
In 1992, a life sized donkey was placed at the front door of the Republican National Committee offices. It was a fitting prank in a year when Democrats took the White House and retained majorities in the House and Senate.
Last night, Republicans got payback.
That same donkey, shown here, was delivered after midnight to the steps of the DNC, covered in logo gear from the GOP’s successful 2010 campaign to take back a majority in the House.

A Look Back at the Wreckage–
When Speaker Pelosi took over Congress the national debt was $162 billion. When she leaves office it will be at $1.29 Trillion dollars.
The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Regime tripled the national deficit in one year.

(The Captain’s Comments)
When Speaker Pelosi took over Congress the unemployment rate was at 4.6%. Today it’s at 9.6%.
They doubled the unemployment rate from where it was when they took over Congress.

(Source: US Misery Index)
They passed a failed Trillion dollar Stimulus bill. In fact, 48 of 50 states have lost jobs since the so-called stimulus passed.
They rammed through the most radical piece of legislation in US history – Without even reading it.
Remember… “We have to pass it so you know what’s in it.”
Today the worst Speaker in US history told ABC that she has no regrets.

Victory For Liberty!!!!

Congratulations to the Citizens of our Nation - Tea Party Patriots Salutes You!

Today was a victory for Liberty!!!! Congratulations! Victories across the country happened because of your hard work and your dedication to our core values, our Constitution, and our country! Your efforts to spread our message throughout the country have resonated with millions of Americans! Time after time you melted the phone lines, showed up at rallies, made signs, protested outside of Congressmen and Senator’s offices, lobbying the halls of Congress, and so much more. Each and every time you took one of these actions our message spread further throughout the country.

On the night of the final health care vote in the House of Representatives, so many of you were in DC protesting, while millions more were emailing, calling and faxing their Representatives. You were disgusted that your government ignored your will so egregiously. For almost thirty six hours straight you stood against those who refused to listen. Those who were in DC, sang with hoarse voices, “We’ll Remember in November! Hey! Hey! Good Bye!” They thought that when November came you wouldn’t remember. But we did remember. And those who ignored you have paid the price. Take pleasure in this feeling of victory.

You deserve the accolades and you deserve take pleasure in this feeling. Tea Party Patriots wishes to extend a special thank you to Rick Santelli for his rant on February 19, 2009, which started this entire movement. Without Rick’s rant, this movement would never have started. Many others will try to take credit but don’t be fooled. He was the spark that began this fire.

Tea Party Patriots would also like to extend a special thank you to Top Conservatives on Twitter (#tcot), Smart Girl Politics (#sgp), and DontGo (#dontgo) for taking Santelli’s rant and actually acting on it. The leaders of these three organizations planned the original local coordinator conference call on February 20, 2009. They fanned the flames that Santelli lit to begin this movement and keep it going. Without their groundwork and vision, the movement would not have spread.

Finally, and most importantly, Tea Party Patriots thanks each and every one of you for being committed to our core values. Thank you for showing up time after time even when it seemed pointless and hopeless.

The warm up is complete. Now the real fight begins!

As Samuel Adams said, “It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds.”

Tea Party Patriots is launching a Perpetual Legislative Watch/Congressional Accountability Project. We have already been watching the legislators for the past 20 months. We have no intention of letting up now. On the weekend of November 12 – 14, local coordinators from around the country will meet with the incoming Congressional freshmen for an orientation. We will have legislative experts who will guide the freshmen on how to first defund and ultimately repeal government controlled health care. We will have economic experts to help them understand the things they will need to do to reduce the federal deficit and restore fiscal sanity to the country. We will have experts who can provide guidance on how to restore Constitutional governance to the country. We will help them to bond together to restore the Constitution in the upcoming legislative session. Finally, we want them to know that if they do the right thing, they will have the support of the people.

Again, congratulations on your hard work! We are making a difference in this country and together we will continue to make a difference in this country.

RUSH:  What is all this talk about compromise?  This talk about compromise started last night, and it's being given almost a full-throated throttle today.  It's coming from both sides.  Compromise?  Ladies and gentlemen, losers compromise.  Winners do not compromise.  The Democrats won nothing.

(playing Wipeout song)

RUSH:  It was a wipeout, and don't let anybody tell you anything otherwise.

(playing Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead)

RUSH:  One of the shortest speakerships in history.

(continued playing of song)

RUSH:  I have been surrounded.  I literally have been sounded by pessimism since last night, and it has amused me.  It has really amused me.  I was thinking about how I had to open this program in 2008 after Obama won the presidency.  I was thinking about how I had to open this program in 2006.  In 2008 Obama wins.  They have the House and the Senate.  That was a reason to be pessimistic.  But I wasn't.  I opened that program in 2008 this way, November 5th:  "Well, my friends, the new tone has finally come home to roost."  And I pointed out that conservatism did not lose in 2008 because conservatism was not on the ballot in 2008.  This was a wipeout last night.  This was a total rejection of the Obama agenda.  This was a total rejection of the Democrat Party.

Now, any time you have a storm go through, you're gonna have things that don't make any sense.  Tornadoes tear up one house, go by another house and leave it totally undamaged and nobody can explain it.  Nobody can explain Harry Reid, although I'm gonna try.  I can tell you what happened with Boxer. I can tell you what happened with Meg Whitman.  We're talking California, we're talking unions.  There are a number of things, but there is absolutely no reason to be pessimistic about anything.  People said, "Well, 1994, Rush, that was really big."  Why was '94 big?  It was unexpected.  It was a surprise.  Last night this was expected.  I warned everybody, don't fall for this trick that they're gonna try to dispirit you and say your win wasn't that big.  Look about at what happened in state legislators.  Ladies and gentlemen, according to the Republican State Leadership Committee, 19 legislative bodies have switched from Democrat to Republican control, which means they did better than they had hoped for in their wildest dreams.  They hoped to pick up 17.  They are gonna be redrawing congressional districts.

Every Democrat in the House, I don't care, every Democrat in the House, Blue Dogs that went out and openly campaigned, supporting Obama and health care lost.  We are two Americas.  We have flyover America and we have the coasts.  Take a look at the map.  It's 90% red.  The blue is on the coasts, a little bit in Texas, a little bit here in south Florida.  We do have two Americas and Obama is gonna do his best to continue to divide this country.  I have to laugh.  I laughed when I listened to these guys, Democrats, Obama and his aides talking about, "Well, now it's time to compromise."  No.  Compromise is off the table.  They didn't want to compromise with us and we have no business compromising with them.  They lost.  Losers compromise.  We don't.  We've got nothing to compromise.  Where do we compromise with this agenda?  There's not one aspect of this agenda that's worth compromising.  This agenda must be stopped.  That's what this election meant.

Make no mistake about it, I don't care what they're saying in public, I don't care what Obama says in his upcoming press conference, I am telling you that Obama knows the truth.  The Democrats know the truth of what happened.  They were wiped out.  Sixty seats, folks.  That is almost unprecedented.  Sixty seats in the House of Representatives, the people's house.

(playing Obama parody song)

(playing Wipeout song)

RUSH:  Don't let anybody tell you differently.  Unprecedented in modern times, previous record, 55 seats back in '32 when Hoover was rejected.

(playing Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead)

RUSH:  And it's bye-bye Pelosi.  And, by the way, folks, as you know, I'm the eternal optimist.  As long as the Democrats control the Senate, what better face than that of Dingy Harry to be the face of the Democrats in the Senate.  It's also not a bad thing that Chuck Schumer is unhappy as hell because he was figuring to be the next leader.  He had already buried Dingy Harry.  He and Dick Turban were going to have a big knock-down, drag-out for Dingy Harry's gig, and now Dingy Harry hangs on.  Dingy Harry hangs on, and he is the face of the Democrat Party.  And the country is asking, "How in the heck can this happen?" and the country is saying, "Unions, fraud and deceit."  Any Democrat win last night was either the result of fraud or deceit, or in the case of West Virginia, Governor Manchin running as Ronald Reagan, Governor Manchin as a Democrat promising to torpedo cap and trade.  If this guy does not vote against the Obama agenda the next two years, he's toast in 2010.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: So they want to compromise, huh?  They say they want to compromise. After telling us, after saying after 2008 Obama and the White House telling us, "Well, you want to talk to me about tax cuts? Fine.  Well, I won. Screw you.  I won."  In the last two weeks, President Obama has said, "Well, you know what?  Republicans drove the car in the ditch. They want to help fix it they have to sit in the back.  Republicans, sit in the back of the car.  We don't mind to be in the car but sit in the back."  Now they want to compromise?  From Politico:  "A top aide to President Barack Obama said not to look for a change in his 'fundamental principles, but certainly there were messages that have to be heeded, and we will.'"  Well, which is it?  Because the message last night was, "Screw your fundamental principles."

The message last night was, "We don't like your fundamental principles."  The message last night was, "We don't like health care. We don't like financial regulatory reform. We don't like expansive government. We don't like bigger government. We don't like higher taxes. We don't like anything your core beliefs represent.  We don't like anything you stand for." If there's any compromise that needs to take place, it's Mr. Obama and the Democrats compromising with the American people rather than governing against the will of the American people.  The message last night: Barack Obama is not the only person who can scratch his nose with his middle finger.  We scratched our noses with our middle fingers all day yesterday and all of last night.

You're back to the Politico story and the Obama aide: "'If you believe in democracy, we were swept in by a big wave, so you have to pay attention to these results and what people are saying,' the aide said. 'They want us to work together, to focus on the economy -- for jobs and growth -- and we-re going to do that.'"  No, we don't want to "work together," and the American people did not say they want to work with you.  The American people said yesterday they want to stop you!  The clear meaning of this election is 60 seats. Folks, don't get all bummed out here because of what happened with Harry Reid and Boxer and so forth.  The year of 1994, as I said, was a big upper because it was such a surprise.

Yesterday this was expected, and so there wasn't much drama to it. There weren't any over-the-top expectations, surprise and so forth, so people have a tendency to go, "Ho-hum."  Sixty seats!  This is a repudiation the likes of which is rarely seen, and this was a repudiation of the president of the United States.  It's 60 seats and counting.  This was a repudiation of his agenda.  This was a repudiation of the Democrat Party -- and make no mistake, the Democrats and their allies in the media know it full well.  That's why they're now out with this spin that what it all means is the American people want a compromise.  No, no, no.  We don't want to stop.  We don't want to put a dead stop to the Democrat Party and its agenda.

My question is to the aide to President Obama who is quoted here in The Politico is, "They want us to work together, focus on the economy for jobs and growth." You've been doing that for two years and you have destroyed jobs and growth in the economy.  But since when do you and the Obama regime care anything about what the people are saying?  You have been governing against the will of the American people from the first day you were immaculated.  When, all of a sudden, do you care what the American people want?  If you cared what the American people want, last night would not-a happened.  If you cared what people want, you would-a gained seats.  If you had been acting on the desires, the hopes and dreams of the American people, the Republican Party would have been aced out of existence.

You, the Democrats, had that power, you had that possibility.  I was never worried it was gonna happen because liberals are liberals, and they view the American people with contempt, and they are viewing with you with contempt today. While saying they want to reach out to you, while saying this election means that the Republicans better realize the American people want to compromise, they're sitting behind closed doors and holding you in utter contempt. How dare you do this last night? How dare you deny these Democrats their seats?  John Dingell is history.  Michigan practically was swept aside in favor of Republicans.  There are four more leaning Republicans and 12 more undecided. Depending on how they fall, we could be over 70 before all this is done.  "But, Rush! But, Rush! But, Rush! What about the Senate?"

Ladies and gentlemen, it is what it is.  Is there anybody in the Senate...? The Senate does not have the same aura about it that the House of Representatives has.  The Democrats in the Senate did not take to the streets and walk publicly and taunt people in the Tea Party as they went to vote for health care.  The House Democrats did that.  The Senate Democrats did not behave -- en masse, in unison -- as the House Democrats did.  You go forward to 2012. What was remarkable about yesterday... What's the pickup, six or seven Senate seats now?  Okay, we're at six, and on the really optimistic upside, it could go to nine, but we're at six solid right now.  Stop and think of this.  Where were we two years ago?

Where were we two years ago?  We were lost, and it was lost, and it was over.  So many of us thought America as we knew it had been wiped out.  No.  America as we know it spoke up and has been saved.  Now, you go forward to 2012. Republicans had the most seats to defend last night in the Senate.  You go forward to 2012. The Democrats have to defend 21 seats -- and make no mistake: Those 21 are up for reelection in 2012, they knew exactly, know exactly what happened last night.  They're gonna have behave like a bunch of Joe Manchins if they want to survive.  A significant number of them are.  The House of Representatives is where all of the Obama legislation was written.  It was where all of it originated.

It's understandable the House has, as a whole, an identity whereas the Senate by nature of its existence does not.  "The tone was more humble..." Back to the Politico piece.  "The tone was more humble than is customary for this White House, and the aide promised a period of introspection.  The aide also mentioned deficits as an area that the parties can do a better job of working together. 'There are lessons for us, and there are lessons for [Republicans], as well,' the aide said. 'This wasn't a vote for more partisanship, for more ideology."  The hell it wasn't.  It was exactly that. It is exactly why I voted.  It is exactly why the vast majority of Americans voted.  It was a vote of "No!"  It was a vote to stop.  It was a vote of anti-liberalism.  It was a vote against the Democrat Party.  It was not a vote to work together.

"Why are you spending so much time on this, Rush?"

Because there are people on our side who are being sucked into it. There are people on our side who are being sucked into the whole notion of compromise because they know the press is gonna love that and the press is gonna love them. The press is gonna treat them fairly.  "Reaching across the aisle" is what was rejected last night.  We had two candidates in California who epitomize the "ideal" Republican candidate.  We had two women, Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina and we were told, "This is like how the Republicans win in the future: Moderate, reasonable, understandable women."  What happened to 'em?  They were defeated.  The very people responsible for creating the mess were reelected.  Moderates -- people who want to reach across the aisle, people who want to work together, people who use the word "bipartisan" -- were rejected, were defeated. Soundly.  In California alone, the idea that we can work together and we should, is suicidal.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Last night was a wipeout.  Sixty seats, perhaps 64 before it's all said and done.  Look at how the Democrats treated Republican women.  In California, both Whitman and Fiorina, and Christine O'Donnell, they were called the B-word, the W-word.  So the B-word, W-word, the slut word, they all lost, according to the media.  What a triumph for the feminists.  What a triumph for the NAGs.  Calling a woman a slut, calling a woman a whore, calling a woman a bitch lets you win an election.  You call a woman a bitch, you call her a whore, you call her a slut, and you win.  What a great night for the feminists.  What a great night for the Democrats.  I'll tell you another reason Obama is deathly afraid of Marco Rubio.  The next editor of the Harvard Review was its first Hispanic.  That's right.  This Rubio candidacy and victory last night has everybody on the Democrat side quaking in their boots.  This notion that they're happy, this notion that they think it coulda been a lot worse for them and they dodged a bullet and this notion that they're gonna compromise, before the television coverage started last night, before the exit polls were fully released and in full force, Democrats were getting a first glance at what was happening accurately portrayed their party as facing a mass murder, in a political sense.  Sixty seats.  Did the Democrats pick up 60 seats with Obama in 2008?  They did not.  Not since Herbert Hoover has the party picked up 60 seats in the House of Representatives.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: There was a meeting today on Capitol Hill, right before the program started.  Republican leaders held a press conference.  This is a portion of what Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the Senate, and he might well be the majority leader if he holds on.  This is what he had to say.

MCCONNELL:  We are indeed humbled and ready to listen to the American people who are determined to stop the agenda Americans have rejected and turn the ship around.  We'll work with the administration when they agree with the people and confront them when they don't.  This election yesterday was clearly a referendum on the administration and the Democratic majority here in the Congress.  It seems to me the best strategy for the other side would be to listen to the voters yesterday.  They made a clear statement about what they'd like to see done.  If the president comes in our direction, obviously, we want to make progress for the country over the next few years.

RUSH:  "If the president comes in our direction."  Compromise only happens for the losers.  The winners do not compromise.

GOP Senate Leader McConnell Will Push to Repeal Health Care Monstrosity

Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters today that he will push to repeal Obamacare.
The Courier Press reported:

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell says he'll push to repeal the health care overhaul passed by congressional Democrats, and if that fails he'll try to undo the law "piece by piece."

McConnell will lead a larger Republican minority when the next Congress convenes. Republicans gained at least six Senate seats in Tuesday's election, and the GOP held a Senate seat from Kentucky with Rand Paul's victory.

McConnell told Kentucky reporters in a conference call Wednesday the election was a referendum on President Barack Obama, the outgoing Democratic-led Congress and their "massive overreach."

He called the health care law a "monstrosity,"
and says his first choice is to repeal and replace it. If that fails due to a lack of votes or a presidential veto, his next option is to review the law "piece by piece."

The fight didn’t stop yesterday. Take it to the state capitals

via RedState by Soren Dayton (Profile) on 11/3/10

Last night was an epic victory for conservatives and Republicans. We pushed back against the arrogant, over-spending Congressional Democrats and, by proxy, President Barack Obama. Much of the commentary has talked about the coming gridlock in Washington. For example, The Economist has described "two years of nothing." But that's not true. Even if there is little agreement on jobs and other policies, Congress and state governments will have to pass budgets and spending bills.  That provides us an opening to continue to channel our activism, especially at the state level to have profound impact in actually reducing the size of government.

But first, let's talk about the scope of the victory last night in the state capitals. This afternoon I spoke with GOPAC Chairman Frank Donatelli about the scope of our victories. Republicans picked up 23 chambers of state legislatures and the most Republican state legislators since 1928. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, Republicans now control both houses of the state legislature in 25 states. Many of these states are in fiscal crisis. Obama and Congressional Democrats bailed out the states — and their public employee unions — twice. And much of that money was turned around and spent attacking Republicans. Recall that the Wall Street Journal found that AFSCME — the largest public employee union — was the largest spender of the cycle.

But bailouts from Washington should not happen again. House Republicans can stop it from even coming to the floor. We have to continue pressure to make that happen, but we can and will win that fight. The next step is the states. With Republican control of so many state legislatures, we can now force states to reform and their services while cutting government employees. Mitch Daniels did it in Indiana, and with both chambers of the state legislature, they are likely to do more. If our new conservative leaders do this, we can get better service, smaller government, and less union money fighting for more spending in the future. That's a virtuous circle.

So here's what we have to do. We have to continue to be involved at the local level. We have to find out what is happening in our state legislatures. And we have to find out who is spending the money and who wants to raise taxes. And we have to fight back and stop them. The next nine months will be critical in wounding Leviathan. If we do, the unions will have less money to spend in 2012 when we defeat Barack Obama.

Changing Course: Republicans Promise Limited Government

Sent to you by Jay via Google Reader:

via The Blaze - Stories by Meredith Jessup on 11/3/10

WASHINGTON (AP) – Emboldened by a commanding House majority and Senate gains, Republican leaders vowed Wednesday to roll back the size of government and, in time, the nation's sweeping health care law. President Barack Obama, reflective after his party's drubbing, accepted blame for failing to deliver the economic security Americans demand while saying of his health overhaul: "This was the right thing to do."

He called the election a "shellacking."

After two years with fellow Democrats leading Congress, Obama now must deal for the rest of his term with the jarring reality of Republican control of the House, a diminished Democratic majority in the Senate and a new flock of lawmakers sworn to downsize government at every chance.

"I've got to do a better job," he said, "like everybody else in Washington." And he took responsibility for not doing enough to alter the ways of the capital, whether its hyper-partisanship or back-room dealing. "We were in such a hurry to get things done that we didn't change how things were done."

Republicans sounded less conciliatory in the first blush of their victories from the midterm elections Tuesday.

"Change course we will," said Ohio Rep. John Boehner, the speaker-in-waiting, describing the outcome as a clear mandate to shrink the government. That echoed the unrelenting demand of tea party activists whose energy and votes helped to fuel the largest turnover in the House in more than 70 years.

The capital awoke — if it ever slept — to a new political order. With their lopsided win, Republicans are ushering in a new era of divided government and dethroning Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a prime target of their campaign.

Repealing the health care law, with its mandates and subsidies to extend health insurance to nearly all Americans, has been a Republican rallying cry for months but Obama, with his veto power, and the Democrats still in control of the Senate stand in the way. Several Republicans indicated their challenge to the law won't happen overnight when they take power.

"I think it is important for us to lay the groundwork before we begin to repeal this monstrosity," Boehner said. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who survived a tea party challenge in Nevada, said "I'm ready for some tweaking" on the health care law but would fight its repeal. Obama, too, indicated he was open to changes, saying Republicans who complain about the burden on small businesses might have a point. But he was not about to see his signature achievement unravel at its core.

In the heady election aftermath, some Republicans cautioned their own that they have work to do in building public trust when many Americans are fed up with both parties.

"We've been given a second chance and a golden opportunity," said Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia, No. 2 Republican in the House. But, he added, "People want to see results."

Sizing up the power shift, Reid said he wants to preserve Obama's health care law and let taxes rise on upper income Americans, but "I'm not bullheaded."

"If we need to work something out with the people who are really rich, I'll have to look at that," he said. "If there's some tweaking we need to do with the health care bill, I'm ready for some tweaking. But I'm not going to in any way denigrate the great work we did as a country, and saving America from bankruptcy because of the insurance industry bankrupting us."

The Republican Senate leader, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, sounded anything but humble in declaring "we are indeed humbled and ready to listen." At a news conference with Boehner, McConnell said Republicans will cooperate with the other side to the extent Democrats "pivot in a different direction." He predicted enough Democrats may support the GOP on spending and debt matters to achieve action on that front.

Obama called Boehner to congratulate him late Tuesday. He also spoke with McConnell and top Democrats in a series of conversations that reflected the shifting balance of power. Boehner said Pelosi called and "left me a very nice voice mail" when she missed him, and they will speak later.

Incomplete returns showed the GOP picked up at least 60 House seats and led for four more, far in excess of what was needed for a majority. About two dozen races remained too close to call.

Republicans gained at least six Senate seats, and tea party favorites Rand Paul in Kentucky, Mike Lee in Utah and Marco Rubio in Florida were among their winners. Their comeback was aided by independents, who backed GOP candidates for the first time since 1998.

Not all the tea party insurgents won. Christine O'Donnell lost badly in Delaware, for a seat that Republican strategists once calculated would be theirs with ease until her stunning upset victory in the primary.

In Nevada, Reid dispatched Sharron Angle in an especially costly and contentious campaign in a year filled with them.

The GOP also wrested 11 governorships from the Democrats, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Maine among them, and gave two back, California and Hawaii.

Changing Course: Republicans Promise Limited Government

Bachmann Moves to Expand Tea Party Influence in Washington

via The Blaze - Stories by Meredith Jessup on 11/3/10

Perhaps the tea party's most staunch ally on Capitol Hill, Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., is celebrating her own re-election and reportedly putting her name in the running for a position in the new Republican majority's House leadership. Big Government reports:

If the GOP is to capitalize on its success, it needs to incorporate the energy and commitment to principle displayed by the grass roots activists. It needs to realize that the game has really changed and the politics of the past two decades are over. Big Government has now learned that Rep. Michele Bachmann, one of the first GOP office-holders to recognize the importance of the tea party uprising, will enter the race for GOP Conference Chair.

The number 4 position in House Leadership, the Conference Chair is well-positioned to inject grass-roots energy into the majority caucus. It is energy the DC GOP establishment desperately needs. Without it, last night's historic win will be only a blip on the political landscape.

Rep. Bachmann is, in many ways, one of the leaders of the 'tea party' in Congress. Incoming GOP members would be well-served to have one of their own in leadership. God speed, Rep. Bachmann.

The spot Bachmann is vying for is simultaneously being vacated by Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., — a potential 2012 presidential or gubernatorial candidate — who announced that he will not be seeking another term as chairman of the House GOP conference.  "Now that we have restored a Republican majority to the House of Representatives and I have fulfilled my commitment to the Republican Conference, my family and I have begun to look to the future," Pence wrote to his party colleagues Wednesday.

Our country is in trouble. A nation conceived in liberty has come of age in bondage to big government. We've lost respect in the world. We are going broke, the American dream is dying for millions and our social and cultural fabric is unraveling. Our people are looking for leaders who will confront these challenges with solutions grounded in timeless American values.

My challenge to you as a colleague and a fellow American is this: Be bold and courageous.  Do not allow political winds to sway you from doing the hard thing and standing up for the basic principles upon which our nation was founded.  We have been given an awesome responsibility and a second chance.  If we prove to be true to our word and act with courage, the American people will stand with us.

There will likely be other candidates tossing their hats into the ring against Bachmann for the conference chair position, but John Boehner's new House majority team will surely have to find some way to incorporate the groundswell of tea party support which helped propel the GOP back into power.  Bachmann will be a tough opponent for anyone given her stature as the most visible supporter of the tea party movement on Capitol Hill and a broad base of support across the country — from grassroots Americans to big Republican powerhouses like Sarah Palin.

Is there a better choice?

President Obama Says He Won’t Allow Republicans to Repeal Obamacare (Video)

After last night's thumping, Barack Obama said he won't allow the repeal of Obamacare.
The far left president told reporters

"One out of two voters believe it's the right thing to do."

of course, in reality nearly 60% of voters want the law repealed. Only 36% of voters believe the law should not be repealed.

San Fran Officials Ban Happy Meals With Veto Proof Majority Vote

San Francisco officials voted to ban Happy Meals this week.

Snitch editor Joe Eskenazi has the word on today's vote by the Board of Supervisors to end toy giveaways for fast-food meals that fail to rate as nutritious. Eskenazi:
The SFWeekly reported:

The supes today passed an ordinance that will require meals to meet nutritional guidelines if restaurants wish to include a toy with the food purchase. More importantly, the supes passed the so-called "Happy Meal Ban" by an 8-3 vote ― meaning it can survive a promised veto from Mayor Gavin Newsom. That's right: San Francisco done banned the Happy Meal. Robble robble.

Sponsored by Supervisor Eric Mar, the ban turned on the support of Bevan Dufty ― a bit of a head scratcher, Eskenazi says, for a mayoral candidate positioning himself as a pro-business moderate. Only thing to do now: Head to the McDonald's at Third and Townsend in SOMA and hoard all the Penguins of Madagascar and Strawberry Shortcake Happy Meal toys they'll sell you. Might prove eBay gold some day for your kids: Your svelte, un-diabetic kids.

Obama: I Take Credit For Voter Frustration… But I’m Not Changing

Obama thanked Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid for their tremendous service these past two years.

The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Regime tripled the national deficit in one year. The democrats more than doubled the US unemployment rate since they took over Congress. What's worse… 48 of 50 states have lost jobs since they passed the so-called stimulus passed.

Obama also told the American people that he takes credit for the frustration but that he would continue to push his far left agenda regardless.

President Barack Obama says that voters frustrated by the pace of economic recovery led to a Republican takeover of the House in midterm elections, adding, 'As president I take responsibility' for a failure to restore job growth more quickly.
Obama also said he would not allow Republicans to repeal his radical legislation.

"I think we would be misreading the results of this election if we thought Americans want us to re-litigate some of the issues that we spent the past two years litigating."

The President's Presser Proves He Doesn't Have a CLUE !!!

Yesterday the American People sent Barack Obama a message, unfortunately he wasn't listening. While he looked contrite (actually he looked as if he was passing a kidney stone), clearly he indicated that he wasn't listening last night.

The President says that the country has made progress over the past two years. But, "Clearly, too many Americans have not felt that progress. Yesterday, they told us that."As president, I take responsibility for that."

He spoke about the need to go back to "changing the way things are done in Washington," but made some of the same trite sound bites he has made of the past few months.  He even found a way to include an observation that his criticism had something to do with the fact that he "has a strange name and has lived in lots of places."

Over and over the President was asked the same question in different ways. Was yesterday's vote a rejection of the Obama Agenda.  Over and over he tapped danced around directly answering the quest, but simply finding a way to steer his answer to fixing the economy.  Yes the economy is part of the problem, but America voted to change direction.

On health care he says that "We would be misreading the election if we thing that most Americans want to re-litigate the discussions of the past two years." That is simply not true. According to the exit polls only 16% of Americans want the bill to stay as it:
Forty-eight percent support canceling the changes that the Obama administration and Congress made to the health care system. Thirty-one percent say they want the new health care law expanded, and just 16 percent say they want to leave the laws as is.
Democratic pollster Pat Caddell says his polls did not indicate that the economy was the decisive factor, health care was. Among Democrats who favored repeal 36% voted Republican, among independents who favored repeal 86% voted GOP. Caddell explained that the President doesn't understand that the American people see Obamacare as a "crime against democracy."

The public voted against big government last night,  56 percent told exit pollsters that the government is doing too may things better left to business and individuals, the President paid lip service to understanding that demand but no one asked him to reconcile that stance against his desire for "green jobs" and maintaining Obamacare. He did hint that the EPA will continue its move to regulate green house gasses.

Last nigh when asked about today's presser I predicted:
If Obama tells America that he "got the message" look for him to attempt to make a Bill Clinton-type pivot.  However it's very doubtful that this President has a mea culpa in him.  Should the POTUS simply talk about the end of bi-partisanship (which he is expected to do) and that he looks forward to working with the GOP on his agenda look for Chicago politics as usual. Even if he plays nice with the Congress, chances are he will shove through his agenda via executive fiat (for example cap and trade via the EPA). This path which he is expected to take will turn off America even further.

Don't forget part of the public's disillusionment with the progressive Democrats was they didn't listen to the people. Should the President not acknowledge the public spanking he received, the 43% approval ratings he now has will be the high point the last two years of his first and only term
Clearly he showed that he was deaf to the message American people tried to send him yesterday.
