Obama Administration Endorses ‘Jihad Rehab’ Program in Yemen

Modeled on the one that failed so badly in Saudi Arabia and allowed these graduates to form the core of al Qaeda's strongest affiliate – in Yemen.

The Obama administration supports the establishment of a jihad rehabilitation program in Yemen, according to remarks Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made during a town hall in the region. Clinton said the efforts would be modeled after jihad rehabilitation programs in Saudi Arabia supported by the Bush administration, where former detainees from the facility at Guantanamo Bay were sent upon release.

Saleh has been advocating for such a "jihad rehab" facility in Yemen – funded by the United States – for years. The Bush administration considered his request in 2008 and rejected it as too dangerous.

Ending that moratorium and sending dangerous terrorists back to Yemen would be unwise. But sending them to a program modeled after Saudi Arabia's jihad rehabilitation program would be even more foolish.

The Saudi program has not "worked quite well," as Clinton claims. According to the Saudis themselves, some 25 former Gitmo detainees that had been repatriated to the kingdom had returned to jihad – a recidivism rate of more than 20 percent.

Head of New York City teachers’ union received more than $600,000 for 2010

The union also spent $1 million at the NY Hilton, $24,000 at the New Orleans Hilton and $11,000 for balloons.

The amount represents about eight to nine months' worth of her former UFT salary of $272,000, said David Hickey, the UFT's chief financial officer. Ms. Weingarten worked at the UFT for 23 years.

Ms. Weingarten's payment "adds up to five times the annual salary of the average teacher, and it's all money that comes from forced union dues from teachers," said Sarah Longwell of the Center for Union Facts, a group critical of unions.

The union, which represents nearly 80,000 teachers, recorded dues and agency fees of $125.6 million, up from $119 million two years before.

The document also shows how much the UFT spent on some of its events. For instance, the union spent more than $1 million at the New York Hilton last year on three events, including its 50th anniversary gala.

One of Mr. Mulgrew's first meetings as the new president of the UFT last year was held at the Brazilian steakhouse Churrascaria Tribeca and included 150 people. The bill was $6,400.

Estimated 40 Percent of Scientists Doubt Manmade Global Warming

S. Fred Singer said in an interview with the National Association of Scholars (NAS) that "the number of skeptical qualified scientists has been growing steadily; I would guess it is about 40% now."

Singer, a leading scientific skeptic of anthropocentric global warming (AGW), is an atmospheric physicist, and founder of the Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP), an organization that began challenging the published findings of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in the 1990s. SEPP established the Leipzig Declaration, a statement of dissent from the 1997 Kyoto Protocol that has been signed by over one hundred scientists and meteorologists.

Asked what he would like to see happen in regard to public opinion and policy on climate change, Singer replied,

I would like to see the public look upon global warming as just another scientific controversy and oppose any public policies until the major issues are settled, such as the cause. If mostly natural, as NIPCC concludes, then the public policies currently discussed are pointless, hugely expensive, and wasteful of resources that could better be applied to real societal problems. [emphasis added]

NIPCC is the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change, another group established by Singer. In 2009 NIPCC published Climate Change Reconsidered,an 880-page report on scientific research that contradicts the models of man-made global warming. Singer believes that global warming exists but that human contributions to it are minimal. In the interview Singer said he believed his efforts in the last twenty years had been successful in disproving the notion that "the science is settled."

Singer continues his work in the sciences, focusing lately on geophysical research and the Earth's atmosphere. He is professor emeritus of environmental science at the University  of Virginia, and he was the founding Dean of the School of Environmental and Planetary Sciences at the University of Miami (1964-1967) and the Director of the Center for Atmospheric and Space Physics University of Maryland (1953-1962).

More Bad News For MSM & Dupnik… Police Were Sent to Loughner’s Home Several Times

The further we get away from the tragedy the more we are putting together a picture of a very disturbed young man. After four days of blaming conservatives for the violent crime of the young left-wing pothead, the media is finally getting around to reporting the facts on the case.

This had nothing to do with Sarah Palin, or Rush Limbaugh, or the tea party, or conservatives.

The New York Times reported:

The police were sent to the home where Jared L. Loughner lived with his family on more than one occasion before the attack here on Saturday that left a congresswoman fighting for her life and six others dead, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said on Tuesday.

A spokesman, Jason Ogan, said the details of the calls were being reviewed by legal counsel and would be released as soon as the review was complete. He said he did not know what the calls were about — they could possibly have been minor, even trivial matters — or whether they involved Jared Loughner or another member of the household.

A friend of Mr. Loughner's also said in an interview on Tuesday that Mr. Loughner, 22, was skilled with a gun — as early as high school — and had talked about a philosophy of fostering chaos.

The news of police involvement with the Loughners suggests that county sheriff's deputies were at least familiar with the family, even if the reason for their visits was unclear as of Tuesday night.

The account by Mr. Loughner's friend, a rare extended interview with someone close to Mr. Loughner in recent years, added some details to the emerging portrait of the suspect and his family.

"He was a nihilist and loves causing chaos, and that is probably why he did the shooting, along with the fact he was sick in the head," said Zane Gutierrez, 21, who was living in a trailer outside Tucson and met Mr. Loughner sometimes to shoot at cans for target practice.

The more we look at the man behind the crime, the more we see just how biased and disturbed the media has become.
