The military has - or at least used to have - one objective: win. You do this by supporting the military with our abundant resources such that any enemy of the US would be quickly overwhelmed. Sadly, that's not what the Obama regime wants. Rather, they want the military to be a champion of eco-fascism. Last week, a Marine company from California arrived in the rugged outback of Helmand Province bearing novel equipment: portable solar panels that fold up into boxes; energy-conserving lights; solar tent shields that provide shade and electricity; solar chargers for computers and communications equipment.Rapidly expand them into what? Powering battleships? Abrams tanks? And don't for a minute believe that this came from a bunch of generals. This edict for earthly oneness came from Obama himself, the same guy that overrode every single general that has his ear and ordered them to abandon Afghanistan: Obama: "We can absorb a terrorist attack," wants to surrender Afghanistan war. Where will this greening of our military end? When our soldiers are shooting solar-power water pistols at terrorists with greenhouse-gas filled bombs.
The 150 Marines of Company I, Third Battalion, Fifth Marines, will be the first to take renewable technology into a battle zone, where the new equipment will replace diesel and kerosene-based fuels that would ordinarily generate power to run their encampment.
Even as Congress has struggled unsuccessfully to pass an energy bill and many states have put renewable energy on hold because of the recession, the military this year has pushed rapidly forward. After a decade of waging wars in remote corners of the globe where fuel is not readily available, senior commanders have come to see overdependence on fossil fuel as a big liability, and renewable technologies — which have become more reliable and less expensive over the past few years — as providing a potential answer. These new types of renewable energy now account for only a small percentage of the power used by the armed forces, but military leaders plan to rapidly expand their use over the next decade.

Are You Ready For A Recount?
Since Bush v. Gore was decided in 2000, recounts have received far more attention; it's almost like they've become a routine part of a campaign. Each year, candidates, state parties, and election lawyers across the country prepare for these post-election challenges that may never come.
In 2008, we saw the impact that a recount can have. In Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman won on election night. On election night Coleman led comedian Al Franken by over 700 votes. A canvass ensued, and Franken chipped away at Coleman's lead, leaving Coleman ahead only 215 votes. With a margin that narrow a recount ensured. Over the course of the recount Franken managed to find enough votes to come out ahead by 225. (Some news stories even reveal that the election may have been decided by the votes of convicted felons who were not eligible to participate in the election.)
This delivered Al Franken to the United States Senate, and delivered President Obama and Harry Reid a critical vote for their liberal agenda.
The Democrats learned a lot from this. So much so, that this election cycle they want to be even better prepared.
On June 24, 2010 the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee ("DSCC") filed an Advisory Opinion Request with the Federal Election Commission ("FEC") asking:
"Specifically, the DSCC seeks confirmation that it may make disbursements from its recount fund before November 4, 2010, to pay for certain recount activities. The DSCC also seeks confirmation that its recount fund may reimburse its principal campaign account for certain pre-election expenses that are attributable, in part, to recount activities."
That's right folks — the Democrats sought to pay attorneys as early as June to prepare for this November. In making this request the Democrats cited the importance of the recount activities in Minnesota and how they resulted "in Senator Franken being seated as the 60th Democratic vote in the United States Senate."
The Democrats reasoned that "Recounts and election contests are fast-moving, complex legal processes" and thus they need the additional time, and the ability to expend funds prior to Election Day to prepare for post-election challenges. They wanted to be able to conduct research, prepare staff and attorneys, and be able to spend recount funds to cover the costs of soliciting donations to the recount fund.
The FEC, after reviewing the Democrats request, determined that:
"DSCC may use its recount funds to pay for recount-related expenses that it will incur before the date of the general election as it prepares for recounts that may occur after the general election. The Commission also concludes that the DSCC may allocate the cost of certain expenses that are attributable to both recount activities and campaign activities between the main account that it uses for campaign activities (its "principal campaign account") and its recount fund."
The Democrats have gotten the green light to prepare for whatever may come on November 3rd. They are raising funds and building an army of attorneys. It is important to note that these rules apply equally to Republicans and any third party candidates as well.
The gloves are off, candidates and campaign committees are free to ramp up their post-Election Day preparations for recounts and contested elections. I have no doubt that both sides of the aisle are preparing for hotly contested close elections which may result in recounts.
While it's good to be prepared, I'm hopeful that with the wave of enthusiasm sweeping this nation, we'll keep the number of close races to a minimum, and deliver decisive victories to conservative candidates.

Irony: UAW to picket itself over labor contract
It's not the first time a union has picketed itself, but it's always good fodder for a post on irony. From The Detroit News: GM workers to picket over negotiated wage cuts. What you don't get out of the headline is that those workers are picketing not an assembly plant or management, but rather UAW headquarters!
Without the contract, the Orion plant will close. You know, I always wondered who the UAW would picket since Obama gave them a chunk of GM after the bailouts and bankruptcies. I guess this answers it. Not only is the UAW essentially negotiating with themselves, possibly a good thing since fiscal reality may have finally dawned on them, but they are picketing themselves too.Union dissidents will picket outside the UAW's headquarters on Saturday, Oct. 16, to protest contracts negotiated by UAW leadership that could cut some workers wages unless they transfer.
The protest will start at noon at Solidarity House. A main instigator is the UAW's announcement this week of a pay plan at General Motors' plant in Orion Township, which in August will start production of the smallest car built in the U.S. Under the contract, the most senior 60% of workers would receive the UAW's $28-an-hour wage, while the rest would make about half that. Workers laid off at the top wage who don't fall in the top 60% by seniority could seek transfers to other GM plants.

True unemployment breaks 17% again - Obama’s jobless recovery continues
The government unemployment report that the economy lost another 95,000 jobs and that the unemployment rate remained stuck at 9.6 percent in September is a disaster for the Obama/Democrats.
The government's broader measure of unemployment, sometimes referred to "true unemploytment," now stands at 17.1 percent. As the Washington Post's Frank Ahrens puts it, you are not included in the "official" unemployment rate if, a) you would like to have a full-time job but can find only part-time work, and b) if you've grown so discouraged at finding work, you've simply given up:
If you include all of these people into the number — all of the people who should be working full time but are not — the truer U.S. unemployment rate is a much higher 16.8 percent.
The higher, more inclusive, unemployment number is buried in the government's monthly report as "U6 Total unemployed, plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force, plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of the civilian labor force plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force" in "Table A-15. Alternative measures of labor underutilization." Unlike the "official" unemployment rate, the U6 number includes both marginal and part-time workers as the "true" or "real" unemployment level.
This is once again a good time to recall President Obama's promises about his boondoggle stimulus package:
- When pushing for passage of his $800 billion so-called stimulus package, President Obama proposed five different goals over eight weeks for his boondoggle and finally settled on a claim that his bailout would create three to four million jobs.
- Team Obama used scare tactics to get the Democrat-controlled Congress to give him the massive spending bill dressed up as a stimulus. They assured us that without Obama's bailout the unemployment rate would reach 9 percent, but if Congress passed his boondoggle, unemployment would peak at 8 percent.
The unemployment rate scare tactic was contained in Obama's "The Job Impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan." At Innocent Bystanders, Geoff, has plotted the actual unemployment rates on Obama's prediction chart. Where are the jobs?
As we all unfortunately know, despite Team Obama's assurances unemployment not only surpassed 8 and 9 percent, it actually broke 10 percent.
When will Obama admit that his misguided tax, spend and borrow policies have not done the job and are epic failures? We may have so far avoided a double dip recession under Obama. But sadly, in less than two years, we have now seen true unemployment rise above 17 percent three times during Obama's presidency.

This has been an ongoing whine from Obama. It was the pivotal moment in his State of the Union address when he went after the Supreme Court for their ruling on campaign finance saying they were allowing foreign entities to influence US elections. It has even been used in his Saturday addresses to the Nation. The Chamber is FED UP! They are going after him with everything they have now!

The long-simmering feud between Democrats and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has erupted into a full-scale war.
The chamber, one of Washington's most influential lobbying groups, emerged from the background of the midterm elections this week, spending millions of dollars on ads to help Republicans and fending off Democratic allegations that the effort may include money collected from foreign firms.
The chamber told the Federal Election Commission that it spent $10.5 million in 31 House and Senate races this week, all in favor of Republicans. The disclosure marks the opening of the floodgates for the business group, which has spent a total of $25 million so far and has vowed to spend up to three times that much by Election Day.
Democrats have responded by attacking the chamber as part of a coalition of conservative groups spending tens of millions on political ads without having to reveal donors. The party and President Obama also have seized on allegations from a liberal think tank that money from overseas chamber affiliates may be polluting the U.S. election process – a charge the business group adamantly denies.
"Just this week, we learned that one of the largest groups paying for these ads regularly takes in money from foreign corporations," Obama said at a rally this week, in a clear reference to the chamber. "So groups that receive foreign money are spending huge sums to influence American elections, and they won't tell you where the money for their ads comes from."
R. Bruce Josten, the chamber's executive vice president for government affairs, said in an interview Friday that the group "has never and will never" use dues collected from overseas business councils, known as "AmChams," for U.S. political activities. He said the chamber is the victim of "a smear campaign" orchestrated with the involvement of the White House.
"This is an outlandish act of desperation from people who are not able to run on their record," Josten said. "They have stooped to smear campaigns."
Republican unity
The developments mark a further escalation of tensions between the business lobby and the White House, which has clashed with the chamber over policies including health-care reform and Wall Street regulations. Democrats won several of the biggest policy votes but now business groups, are spending big in the hopes of helping Republicans win control of Congress.
Many Republicans noted that independent liberal groups spent tens of millions of dollars with little oversight during previous elections and that some were doing the same this year.
The chamber's ad buy this week is its largest so far and dwarfs the spending of any group other than the political parties. The spots comment on about two dozen House races and many key Senate contests.
The chamber said it spent at least $1 million per race targeting Senate candidate Paul Hodes (D) in New Hampshire; Sen. Barbara Boxer (D) in California; and Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, a disaffected Republican running as an independent against Marco Rubio (R) and Rep. Kendrick Meek (D). The group is also running ads against endangered Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold in Wisconsin and Democratic Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal in Connecticut, who is in an unexpectedly tight race with Linda McMahon, a former wrestling executive who is tapping her personal fortune for the campaign.
Josten said the chamber also went on the air Thursday with ads that were supportive of 10 Democrats who had voted against Obama's health-care reform legislation. Spending figures for the spots were not yet disclosed on Friday.
But Josten said overall party unity on such issues makes it difficult for the chamber to endorse many Democrats. "This is an unusually heavy Republican cycle for us," he said.
Liberal groups and Democratic lawmakers have increasingly focused criticism on the chamber in recent weeks for its aggressive midterm elections effort, arguing that it is impossible to tell who is behind the campaign because of tax laws allowing nonprofits to keep their funding confidential. Obama and Democratic leaders failed in two attempts to pass legislation that would have required greater disclosure of political spending by corporations.
Disclosure of donors
The foreign-money angle springs from a report this week by ThinkProgress, an arm of the liberal Center for American Progress think tank, alleging that the chamber collects dues from more than 100 overseas business councils – known as "AmChams" – that are funneled into its general fund, which is also the source of funding for the group's political activities in the United States.
ThinkProgress said it had identified $300,000 in dues from the AmCham in Bahrain alone since 2006 and questioned whether the chamber was improperly co-mingling the dues with political funds.
The chamber refuted the report, saying that it abided by long-standing prohibitions against the use of foreign money in U.S. elections. Josten said total AmCham dues amounted to about $100,000 a year, all of it devoted to international programs.
Liberal groups and some Democrats have also attacked the chamber for accepting a $1 million contribution from News Corp., the owner of Fox News.
The developments come amid a growing effort by Democrats and liberal groups to focus on the rise in importance of secret donors in the midterm elections. A Washington Post analysis found that spending by outside groups such as American Crossroads and Americans for Job Security had increased fivefold since 2006, and that most of it was funded by donors who do not have to be disclosed by the groups involved.
Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, recently asked the Internal Revenue Service to investigate whether nonprofit groups, including advocacy organizations, unions and trade groups such as the chamber, were violating tax laws by engaging primarily in political activities. A group of labor unions also filed a separate complaint with the IRS alleging tax violations by the chamber.
David Donnelly, director of Campaign Money Watch, a liberal-leaning group, said the chamber should release records verifying its assertion that no foreign money is being used in its U.S. electioneering efforts.
"No candidate should sit quietly by and accept help from TV advertising that is furthering the special interest agenda of the chamber," Donnelly said. "That agenda now appears to include operating as a political outpost for foreign corporate interests in Washington."
Josten dismissed such attacks as political stunts. He said similar allegations could be lodged against labor unions, many of which have longstanding international ties.
"This is an orchestrated and deliberate attempt to push a non-story to make it appear to be a story," he said. "They want to put people that we support on defense and use the red meat of foreign money to do it."

Oh, it was a thing to be celebrated when Obama's payoff to the teachers unions back in August"saved" the job of Ohio school teacher Amanda VanNess. It was such a thing of wonder that the big guy flew the elementary school teacher all the way to D.C. for an Oval Office signing ceremony.

Happy days were here again… and it lasted less than three months because VanNess still lost her job this month anyway.
But there is good news. VanNess's job only cost the American people $26 billion dollars. So we have that going for us, which is nice.
Of course, the $26 billion was supposed to "save" or "create" jobs for teachers, wasn't it? So what happened to these best laid plans? Turns out the school district that VanNess works for… er, I mean worked for… was in such a budget crisis that programs were cut and the money was used to try to make due. On top of that enrollment has been down in the area because families have moved away due to the depressed job market in Toledo, Ohio.
So, despite all the fan fare only a few months ago, Amanda VanNess was laid off anyway.
Sadly, much of this teacher union bailout money never did end up going to the most needy states as we found out not long after the bill was passed and signed.
Yeah, and it only cost us $26 billion to keep her employed for three months.
Such a deal.

Top Scientist Resigns from Post – Admits Global Warming Is a Scam
As reported by the Gateway Pundit: Top US scientist Hal Lewis resigned this week from his post at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He admitted global warming climate change was nothing but a scam in his resignation letter.

Dear Curt:
When I first joined the American Physical Society sixty-seven years ago it was much smaller, much gentler, and as yet uncorrupted by the money flood (a threat against which Dwight Eisenhower warned a half-century ago).
Indeed, the choice of physics as a profession was then a guarantor of a life of poverty and abstinence—it was World War II that changed all that. The prospect of worldly gain drove few physicists. As recently as thirty-five years ago, when I chaired the first APS study of a contentious social/scientific issue, The Reactor Safety Study, though there were zealots aplenty on the outside there was no hint of inordinate pressure on us as physicists. We were therefore able to produce what I believe was and is an honest appraisal of the situation at that time. We were further enabled by the presence of an oversight committee consisting of Pief Panofsky, Vicki Weisskopf, and Hans Bethe, all towering physicists beyond reproach. I was proud of what we did in a charged atmosphere. In the end the oversight committee, in its report to the APS President, noted the complete independence in which we did the job, and predicted that the report would be attacked from both sides. What greater tribute could there be?
How different it is now. The giants no longer walk the earth, and the money flood has become the raison d'être of much physics research, the vital sustenance of much more, and it provides the support for untold numbers of professional jobs. For reasons that will soon become clear my former pride at being an APS Fellow all these years has been turned into shame, and I am forced, with no pleasure at all, to offer you my resignation from the Society.
It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare. (Montford's book organizes the facts very well.) I don't believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist.
So what has the APS, as an organization, done in the face of this challenge? It has accepted the corruption as the norm, and gone along with it…

Guess Who Else Is Exempt From Obamacare Rules? [Reader Post]
It's only the beginning.
Among the blessed? The United Federation of Teachers.
The United Federation of Teachers — one of President Obama's key political backers — is the biggest beneficiary of a White House sweetheart deal that will exempt certain outfits from complying with new health-care rules, officials revealed yesterday.
The quietly approved federal waivers for 30 companies, health insurers, unions and other groups across the country means the UFT doesn't have to gradually phase out caps on annual health coverage like everyone else.
And why were they granted the exemption?
The UFT was concerned that could have been a major financial hit on the union.
And because Obama had their support.
That's really terrific. Thing is, a whole lot of us are also concerned about the financial hit on ourselves as well. But that matters not to Obama and his Thugocrats.
"Big labor spent millions of dollars pushing ObamaCare, which they made sure was stuffed full of union giveaways," said Patrick Semmens, spokesman for the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, which represents businesses.
"So the fact that the largest waiver now belongs to New York teachers union bosses might be funny if the rest of America wasn't stuck complying with the bill's onerous mandates."
Naturally, the AFT and UFT endorsed Obama in 2008.
Kyle Olson reports that the AFT was a major contributor to Health Care America Now
ObamaCare was such a great idea at the time – the AFT gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to Healthcare for America Now, the leading organization pushing for the government takeover of health care.
And indeed the HCFAN site does list the AFT as part of the "coalition."
As Olson notes, the New York State Teachers Union (a branch of the AFT) published a list of "facts vs. myths." In part it said
•Myth: Health care reform will force you out of your current insurance plan or force you to change doctors.
•Fact: You can keep your existing insurance; reform will expand your medical options, not eliminate them.
Seems that's true only if you're part of a union or some other Obama supporter group.
To paraphrase Orwell, "All Americans are equal but some are more equal than others."

Top Scientist Resigns from Post – Admits Global Warming Is a Scam
Top US scientist Hal Lewis resigned this week from his post at the University of California at Santa Barbara.
He admitted global warming climate change was nothing but a scam in his resignation letter.

When I first joined the American Physical Society sixty-seven years ago it was much smaller, much gentler, and as yet uncorrupted by the money flood (a threat against which Dwight Eisenhower warned a half-century ago).
Indeed, the choice of physics as a profession was then a guarantor of a life of poverty and abstinence—it was World War II that changed all that. The prospect of worldly gain drove few physicists. As recently as thirty-five years ago, when I chaired the first APS study of a contentious social/scientific issue, The Reactor Safety Study, though there were zealots aplenty on the outside there was no hint of inordinate pressure on us as physicists. We were therefore able to produce what I believe was and is an honest appraisal of the situation at that time. We were further enabled by the presence of an oversight committee consisting of Pief Panofsky, Vicki Weisskopf, and Hans Bethe, all towering physicists beyond reproach. I was proud of what we did in a charged atmosphere. In the end the oversight committee, in its report to the APS President, noted the complete independence in which we did the job, and predicted that the report would be attacked from both sides. What greater tribute could there be?
How different it is now. The giants no longer walk the earth, and the money flood has become the raison d'être of much physics research, the vital sustenance of much more, and it provides the support for untold numbers of professional jobs. For reasons that will soon become clear my former pride at being an APS Fellow all these years has been turned into shame, and I am forced, with no pleasure at all, to offer you my resignation from the Society.
It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare. (Montford's book organizes the facts very well.) I don't believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist.
So what has the APS, as an organization, done in the face of this challenge? It has accepted the corruption as the norm, and gone along with it…

The Dems are so scared of him they "accidentally" put his social security numbers on anti-West literature that was mailed out to Democratic supporters. Lieutenant Colonel Allen West (US Army, Retired) was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and is third of four generations of military servicemen in his family. His parents instilled in him a very basic principle, love of God and Country. In 2004, when it was time to retire from more than twenty years of service in the US Army, he brought his wife and two young daughters to Broward County, Florida, where he taught high school for one year. He then returned to Afghanistan as an advisor to the Afghan army, an assignment he finished in November 2007.
Allen West received his Bachelors degree from University of Tennessee and Masters degree from Kansas State University, both in political science. He also holds a Master of Military Arts and Sciences from the US Army Command and General Staff Officer College in political theory and military operations.

What Is Congress Establishing? climate religion
The entire basis for the failed Cap and Trade legislation push last year was AGW. Every American would be forced to pay taxes and fees, and higher energy bills, to satisfy the demands of a movement that is based on a fundamental premise that is (a) not provable to a skeptic and (b) not open to debate, discussion, or objective investigation.

The article announced that the National Science Foundation has awarded a $700,000 grant to a New York City theater company named Civilians to finance the production of a play about climate change.
Many would ask what the connection is between the establishment clause of the Constitution and a play about global warming, or climate change, or whatever John Holdren has decided to call it this week. The connection is simply this. All religions, be they Hebrew, Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, or any other, are based on a fundamental premise that is (a) not provable to a skeptic and (b) within the confines of that religion, not open to debate, discussion, or objective investigation. All religions have a priestly class who purport to have the authority to guide the adherents of the group in what could be termed "proper behavior."
Even though anthropogenic global warming (AGW), climate change, and climate disruptions are phrases that can be used interchangeably, let's just stick with anthropogenic global warming (AGW) for convenience.
AGW is a theory. It has a significant number of adherents. It has as its fundamental premise the belief that human activity is the cause for changes in the Earth's climate. These climate changes are apparently undetectable by scientists other than those who are adherents to the AGW dogma (similar to a priestly class). The theory is not provable. It is not open to debate, discussion, or objective investigation.

Another Scathing Indictment of Climate Change
As the skeptics of man-caused global warming mount and documented evidence is presented by credible scientists and well-respected scholars and the fraud exposed by journalists, the United Nations, all governments (including the U. S.), environmentalists, social justice types, much of academia and the news media that aids and abets the rest, continue to "hang on" to the money-making and wealth-distribution scheme that is climate change ….. alias "man-caused global warming".

So what is the rationale for holding onto this irrational belief that is without a valid premise? It is the collective belief by wild-eyed environmentalists and the international bullies that support them, that "man" is irreparably harming the planet and he and his actions must be controlled to prevent the environment from potential harm. The modus operandi for the scheme is the so-called "precautionary principle" (PP). PP essentially states that even if there is no credible evidence that man is creating harm to the environment, nevertheless the controllers of man must institute draconian policy and regulations to prevent man from inducing any harm to the environment that MIGHT be caused by man's actions, no matter how much the new regulations cost or what rights must be surrendered. Ludicrous!
Here is Dr. Harold Lewis' opening salvo, in his letter of resignation to the President of the American Physical Society.

"I do feel the need to add one note, and this is conjecture, since it is always risky to discuss other people's motives. This scheming at APS HQ is so bizarre that there cannot be a simple explanation for it. Some have held that the physicists of today are not as smart as they used to be, but I don't think that is an issue. I think it is the money, exactly what Eisenhower warned about a half-century ago. There are indeed trillions of dollars involved, to say nothing of the fame and glory (and frequent trips to exotic islands) that go with being a member of the club. Your own Physics Department (of which you are chairman) would lose millions a year if the global warming bubble burst. When Penn State absolved Mike Mann of wrongdoing, and the University of East Anglia did the same for Phil Jones, they cannot have been unaware of the financial penalty for doing otherwise. As the old saying goes, you don't have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing. Since I am no philosopher, I'm not going to explore at just which point enlightened self-interest crosses the line into corruption, but a careful reading of the ClimateGate releases makes it clear that this is not an academic question."
How many more decorated and credible individuals must come forward, put their careers at risk and debunk this planet-wide, international-sponsored scam before the general population wakes up, opens their eyes, and tells all who are supporting and endorsing this fraud, where to get off?
All government policies, including Cap and Trade legislation, that are adopted from this pseudo science are as fraudulent, as is the "Made-As-Instructed" science that spawns them. Any politician and we do mean ANY politician, that champions this scheme should be drummed out of office, or brought up on corruption charges, or impeached.
How sad it is that science, once the last bastion of truth, has been corrupted and perverted by money, politics and the globalists, for control of the masses on a global scale. Can men in chains be far behind?
