What's Worse, a High School Student Dabbling In Witchcraft or A First Lady Talking to Dead People?

The press is making a big deal out of incidents that occurred when Delaware GOP Senatorial Candidate was in high school. The latest of which was a 1999 statement made on "Politically Incorrect," where she said she  "dabbled into witchcraft" but "never joined a coven." After the tape was released, O'Donnell cleared up the quote asking whether it was fair to hold candidates responsible for the "questionable folks"
"I hung around people who were doing these things. I'm not making this stuff up. I know what they told me they do," O'Donnell told Maher in 1999
"One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it. I mean, there's little blood there and stuff like that," she said. "We went to a movie and then had a little midnight picnic on a satanic altar."
I know how O'Donnell feels, one of my first dates was a woman who voted for Teddy Kennedy. It was a long-distance relationship, only my feet were planted on the planet earth.

The media obsession with O'Donnell's unfortunate choice of high school dates, is just a politically driven effort to discredit the tea party in general and Ms O'Donnell specifically.  If they were truly concerned about politicians involved in paranormal activities, they would have had their "X-Files" bureau going after former NY Senator and present Secretary of State Hilary Clinton.

When Ms Clinton was the First Lady of the United States, she used to have conversations with Eleanor Roosevelt. Not that those conversations were necessarily a bad thing, except for fact that Mrs. Roosevelt died in 1962, thirty years before Ms Clinton became first lady. Bob Woodward in his 1996 book, The Choice, brought the "conversations"  to the attention of the general public.

In his book (page 132) Bob Woodward wrote that one day, after finishing up a discussion with Eleanor, "Houston asked Hillary to carry on a conversation with Mahatma Gandhi, the Hindu leader, a powerful symbol of stoic denial. Talk to him, Houston said. What would you say and what would you ask?" And Hillary did. "It was a strong personal outpouring," Woodward reported. The WAPO reporter didn't say what Gandhi's response was.

Another book released in 2007 backed up Woodward's Claim.
A new biography on Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton reveals that during her time as First Lady, Clinton participated in strange moments of imaginary conversation with a deceased Eleanor Roosevelt from the solarium atop the White House. Grove City College professor Paul Kengor's "God and Hillary Clinton" also notes the religious devotion with which Senator Clinton advocates abortion.

An overview of the book by Kengor's Grove City colleague Dr. Warren Thockmorton notes that the book - with information from friends, colleagues and acquaintances - paints an accurate picture of Clinton's version of faith.

The woman who arranged the séance-type sessions atop the White House, Jean Houston, became very close to the Senator. Houston who was known for delving into altered consciousness, the spirit world, and psychic experiences, according to a source quoted in the book, compared Clinton to Joan of Arc and believed her to be the most pivotal woman in all of human history
The press was well aware of Ms Clinton's habit of speaking to historical figures, especially after it became Barack Obama's first "screw-up" after he was elected.  The  President-Elect had to call Nancy Reagan to apologize  after he mixed up mixed up Hillary's séances with Nancy's astrology.
President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan today to apologize for the careless and off-handed remark he made during today's press conference," said Obama spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter "The President-elect expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share and they had a warm conversation,"
Earlier on Friday at his first news conference since sweeping to victory in Tuesday's election, Obama was asked if he had consulted past presidents for guidance.

"I've spoken to all of them that are living," he said. When some members of the media started to laugh, he added: "I didn't want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about, you know, doing any séances.".....Sen. Hillary Clinton, when her husband was president, was reported to have had imaginary conversations with Eleanor Roosevelt at the suggestion of spiritual adviser Jean Houston.
Maybe after the press is done trying to destroy Christine O' Donnell for something she did in high school, they can compare that to a Secretary of State who used to run around the White House speaking to dead people. You know, come to think of it, that wouldn't be so bad if Clinton would just once, channel one of the founding fathers who could explain to her just exactly what is in that US Constitution the progressives so often ignore.

Video: Breitbart Forces Obama’s Protesters to Quit by Asking Them To Explain the Placards They Were

Via Big Government (via Instapundit):
In the following dramatic video, Breitbart brings the protest to a complete halt by cleverly asking sign holders to do the impossible:  explain the placards they were carrying. In the end, the frustrated organizers abruptly end their protest and leave.
This is awesome for Breitbart, pathetic for Obama's protesters:
Are these people mindless drones? Just doing what they are told without any thought of their own? These drones show up everywhere. I interviewed a couple of them in April (News: Macomb Daily Staff Writers Don't Know How To Ask Questions). "They don't even know what the heck they were doing there except to hold signs their union bosses told them to hold:"

Band of Thugs… Obama Administration Exposes Conservative Group’s Tax Information

Band of Thugs–
You can tell this guy was an instructor in Alinsky tactics.

Barack Obama taught the socialist principles of radical Saul Alinsky before becoming president.

The Obama Administration is now exposing the private tax information of top conservatives. It's like America is suddenly run by a bunch of Marxist pigs.
The Weekly Standard reported:

A lawyer for Koch Industries now tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD that the administration may have crossed a line by revealing tax information about Koch Industries. According to Mark Holden, senior vice president and general counsel of Koch Industries, a senior Obama administration official told reporters at an August 27 on-the-record background briefing on corporate taxes:

So in this country we have partnerships, we have S corps, we have LLCs, we have a series of entities that do not pay corporate income tax. Some of which are really giant firms, you know Koch Industries is a multibillion dollar businesses. So that creates a narrower base because we've literally got something like 50 percent of the business income in the U.S. is going to businesses that don't pay any corporate income tax. They point out [in the report] you could review the boundary between corporate and non-corporate taxation as a way to broaden the base.

Holden tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD that this quotation from a senior administration official "came to our attention from different avenues. We are very concerned about why this would be said about us, particularly in this setting. We are concerned where this information would have been obtained from. We also are concerned in light of recent events that we have been singled out by the government and others as a campaign against us because of our political views."

You confront the Obama regime- you pay.

Glenn Reynolds adds: Hey, next Obama will be joking about tax audits for people who disrespect him.

DOJ Official Gave False Testimony About Dropping New Black Panther Case

 J. Christian Adams is the DOJ official who resigned as an  Attorney in the Voter Rights Division of the Department of Justice to protest the racism, perjury, and obstruction of justice surrounding the DOJ's dropping of the election day 2008 voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther party. When Mr. Adams testified, he accused he assistant attorney general for civil rights, Tom Perez, when he testified about the dropping of the case. Today Judicial Watch released documents obtained in a FOIA request that adds to the list of lies that Perez may have made. The data
....details a series of emails between Assistant Deputy Attorney General Steve Rosenbaum and Deputy Associate Attorney General Sam Hirsch, who was described by Slate magazine as a "DC election lawyer who represents a lot of Democrats" prior to joining the Justice Department.
In other words a very political appointee. The summary provided by the DOH
.... describes eight email exchanges between Rosenbaum and Hirsch, taking place on April 30, 2009, the day before the Justice Department reversed course and declined to pursue much of the Black Panther case. Listed among the email correspondence:
An "Email Chain with Attachments" from Rosenbaum to Hirsch dated April 30, 2009: The email chain includes "…a detailed response and analysis of the proposed draft filings in NBPP (New Black Panther Party) litigation…The response includes a candid assessment of legal research and raises questions about the case law and proposed relief….This document also contains attorney discussion, opinions, and analyses of the draft documents and case law."
These records contradict testimony by Assistant Attorney General Perez, before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights on May 14, 2010. During the hearing, Perez was asked directly regarding the involvement of political leaders in the decision to dismiss the Black Panther case.
COMMISSIONER KIRSANOW: Was there any political leadership involved in the decision not to pursue this particular case any further than it was?
ASST. ATTY. GEN. PEREZ: No. The decisions were made by Loretta King in consultation with Steve Rosenbaum, who is the Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General.
Perez also suggested that the dispute was merely "a case of career people disagreeing with career people."
Rosenbaum is no "career people"

"These documents show the Obama Justice Department's decision to drop the Black Panther case was certainly political and potentially corrupt," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "The Black Panther decision is a scandal for the Obama administration and it merits serious attention by investigators. Assistant Attorney General Perez seems to have been less than candid in his sworn testimony when he said no political appointees were involved in the decision. This scandal has just gotten a whole lot worse for the Obama Justice Department."
Mr. Fitton is going a bit to far when he says these documents prove that dropping the case was political, to be honest, they are no smoking gun.  But when added to the charges by Mr. Adams, it does show a pattern of misinformation coming from Mr. Perez.
.... Tom Perez, has testified repeatedly that the "facts and law" did not support this case. That claim is false. If the actions in Philadelphia do not constitute voter intimidation, it is hard to imagine what would, short of an actual outbreak of violence at the polls....
Most corrupt of all, the lawyers who ordered the dismissal - Loretta King, the Obama-appointed acting head of the Civil Rights Division, and Steve Rosenbaum - did not even read the internal Justice Department memorandums supporting the case and investigation. Just as Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. admitted that he did not read the Arizona immigration law before he condemned it, Mr. Rosenbaum admitted that he had not bothered to read the most important department documents detailing the investigative facts and applicable law in the New Black Panther case..
Not reading the file qualifies King and Rosenbaum to be members of Congress, but it is awful hard to make decisions about a legal case without reading the file.  The head of the Voting Rights Section of the DOJ Christopher Coates got so angry at Rosenbaum for making the decision without first reading about it, he threw the file at him. For the file toss, Coates was stripped of his responsibility and transfered to South Carolina.
Mr. Perez also inaccurately testified to the House Judiciary Committee that federal "Rule 11" required the dismissal of the lawsuit. Lawyers know that Rule 11 is an ethical obligation to bring only meritorious claims, and such a charge by Mr. Perez effectively challenges the ethics and professionalism of the five attorneys who commenced the case. Yet the attorneys who brought the case were voting rights experts and would never pursue a frivolous matter. Their experience in election law far surpassed the experience of the officials who ordered the dismissal.
These are very serious charges being brought forward by Mr. Adams. Charges that strike at the very heart of our American republic. He is reporting that equality before the law and freedom from racial discrimination is not offered to all Americans, and that an Assistant Attorney General of the Department of Justice has not testified honestly, a charge backed up the Assistant AG getting caught in another lie.  I wonder if this is what the President meant by "Change you can believe in." Looks as if the New Black Panther Case is about to heat up once again.

CBO WARNS- Unemployment To Stay High Through 2012

CBO expects that the economic recovery will proceed at a modest pace, leaving the unemployment rate above 8 percent until 2012.--CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf September 16, 2010

If you enjoyed the last two years, you will really love the next two years. According to the CBO Director unemployment is going to remain at these high levels for another two years. Which happens to be the next Presidential election year.
http://gridney.tripod.com/cboun.png

A look at the CBO projection will remind you that when the President took office, unemployment was at 7.7 percent. We were promised that if the stimulus was passed unemployment would not top eight percent. Today unemployment rate is at 9.6 percent and according to the new projection, unemployment will not drop below the promised level until after Obama's first term:
"CBO expects that the economic recovery will proceed at a modest pace, leaving the unemployment rate above 8 percent until 2012," said CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf at a Sept. 16 policy seminar.

Elmendorf said that long-term unemployment was the highest it had been in six decades.

"Weak economic growth has serious social consequences. About 9½ percent of the labor force is officially unemployed, but many other people are underemployed or have left the labor force," he said. "The incidence of unemployment lasting longer than 26 weeks has been the highest by far in the past 60 years."

Elmendorf directly addressed the contention that the federal government is out of policy options for dealing with this problem, given the failure of the Recovery Act to hold down unemployment.

Congress' chief accountant said that both fiscal and monetary options for attempting to spur the economy carried risks that policy makers must take into account.
In other words the deficit is scary, more deficit is scarier.
"Although there are no magic cures, we do think there are both monetary and fiscal policy options that, if applied at a sufficient scale, would increase output and employment during the next few years (but not overnight)," Elmendorf said.

"Such options would have costs though—in particular, expansionary fiscal policy would increase federal budget deficits and debt relative to current baseline projections, which are already quite worrisome."

Elmendorf said that policymakers thinking about additional stimulus needed to pair those policies with specific efforts to reduce the medium-term and long-term debt.
"Aye, thars the rub!" Unemployment is going to suck for two more years, but we don't have the funds to fix it.  What makes thing even worse is that the progressives that run our government have little desire to cut back on the expensive programs they just passed, or any of the other "nanny state" programs that are driving the our country into bankruptcy.  To solve the unemployment problem, we need new leaders who will take the steps necessary to grow business, which doesn't always cost money, sometimes it takes a little freedom.

IT’S TRUE– Proof That the DNC and Team Obama Are Targeting Tea Partiers and Top Conservatives

These Are Dangerous Times

With one-in-seven Americans living in poverty, with unemployment at record levels, with an unprecedented national deficit, with foreclosures up and businesses down you'd think the Obama Administration and Democratic National Committee (DNC) would be focusing on the economy…
You'd be wrong.

Instead, the Community Organizer In Chief and the radical left is focusing its energy on stalking and harassing top conservatives and tea party patriots.

On Saturday, September 18th, Glenn Beck and Andrew Breitbart headlined an event entitled "Right Nation 2010," held just outside of Chicago, Illinois. When Andrew Breitbart, a speaker at the event, arrived at the Sears Centre west of Chicago, he was met by an angry mob of radical protesters who were "praying" for an "end to hate" while also hurling insults and homophobic slurs toward the targets of their enmity. One of the prayer leaders at the event and the lead organizer, C.J. Hawking, is also a noted national socialist from the Chicago area.

In the following video, posted at Big Government, Andrew Breitbart brought the protest to a complete halt by cleverly asking sign holders to do the impossible: explain the placards they were carrying. In the end, the frustrated organizers abruptly ended their protest and left in their busses.

This is an amazing video of leftist thugs attacking Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and tea party activists:

So, guess who was behind this radical protest? Guess who was promoting this protest? Guess who organized this protest?
Barack Obama and the DNC, that's who.

This protest was promoted on Barack Obama's Organizing for America website:
(Click on the image to enlarge)

The woman at the end of the video above admitted she heard about the protest at the OFA website.

Notice that at the bottom of the OFA page are both the Obama and DNC logos.

And, notice that the ad is "Paid for by the Democratic National Committee."

The DNC says the host for the project is the Accountability Project
Guess what? They're sponsored and paid for by the DNC, too. It's posted at the bottom of their page.
What a complete shock.

So, rather than focus all energy on the economy and the suffering of the American people, Barack Obama and democrats are stalking, protesting, and harassing top conservatives and tea party patriots.
Why are we not surprised?

Hypocrisy: Obama buys cheesesteak in Philly, tells crowd "I also bought some apples so Michelle woul

From Mark Knoller on Twitter:
But here's the kickers:
You see, for us little people, we won't have the option of getting a cheesesteak and telling some bureauweenie that we're eating healthy because we bought fruit. Nope. Just as taxes are reserved for us little people, dietary totalitarianism will be upon us like ugly on a gorilla, and we will end up subsisting on tofu salads. Rest assured that the ruling class will have no such limitations, and will instead be feasting on red meat off the bone.
"The little people don't know what they're missin'!"
UPDATE: From th eMichelle Malkin archives back in April 2008: Obama's cheesesteak snobbery: Shades of Jawn "Swiss" Carry
One local observer thinks both Obama and Hillary's decision to shun the city's most famous cheesesteak joint may have something to do with their ideological allergy to Geno's stand that customers speak English:
"I think some of the places that were must-stops, aren't must stops any more," said political analyst Larry Ceisler. "I think that the Kerry experience was certainly a bad experience and I think the candidates look at that. Also, I don't think they want to take the chance of the immigration issue."
I wonder where he stopped this time.

UPDATE #2: I should have asked this exit question: if he stops over here in Michigan, well he eat a cupcake before going into the elementary school that just banned them? (Local MI elementary school launches War On Cupcakes, bans classroom tradition of bringing in cupcakes to celebrate a child's birthday)

It's the Spending, Stupid

Democracy and Power 102:  Voters are rationally ignorant.

Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.  H.L. Mencken

It's the Spending, Stupid

A chronic voter 'concern' has now exploded into a broad public movement.

Recently, President Obama stated the "concerns" of the America public:

"They saw the Recovery Act," he said. "They saw TARP. They saw the auto bailout. And they look at these and think, 'God, all these huge numbers adding up.' So they're right to be concerned about that."

Deceptively, the President didn't mention the trillion dollars more he spent with ObamaCare. Daniel Henninger, in the Wall Street Journal, observes this "concern" pre dates Obama and Bush.

I'm convinced that beneath all the economic turbulence in the land is anxiety that's been building for years as public spending has continued to grow. What was a chronic "concern" has exploded this year into a broad public movement—in Washington, California, New York, New Jersey and indeed across Europe. This isn't "concern," Mr. President. It's a crisis.

Correct.  The crisis is spending, which the public has coalesced against.  However the pathological malady is the lack of restrictions on the all-powerful and coercive power of government

This is a major problem with all democracies.  None have effective structural limitations on the power to tax, borrow and spend.  Additionally, all democracies spend more than they tax, which is tolerated (actually enjoyed) by the public until there is a crisis.  Want proof? Think California, England, Illinois, Greece, New York, Italy, and America.  Incessantly, government elites connive to spend, which is allowed until the people taxed rebel. Hence, today Americans are reflexively and angrily responding to years of undisciplined and uncontrollable government spending.

This exposes a great challenge to all democracies:  First, only knowledgeable and vigilant citizens stop government abuse.  Second, regrettably the great majority of citizens are rationally ignorant of government.

Democracy and Power 102:  Voters are rationally ignorant.

The vast majority of the public is ignorant of bills, legislation, regulations and taxes that will ultimately affect their lives.

The general public is working hard making a living, raising a family and improving their community. The individual voter does not have the time to know all the transactions of government.  It is impossible to stay abreast of all the government actions.

Presently, America benefits from vast public revulsion with government spending and the associated fraud and corruption.  A significant majority of Americans want smaller government, lower taxes and few services.

Hopefully, this will result in better governance.  Crucially, the momentary anger and hope are not enough.  America and all democracies dedicated to freedom must develop structural systems limiting the power of government.

 This problem is not new:

The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.
- James Madison, Speech in the Virginia State Convention of 1829-1830

Join FreedomWorks to halt the ongoing abuses by Democrats and Republicans, and join the search for additional structures to restrain the inherent problem of abuse of power by government officials.
