Video: S&P Companies Face $506+ BILLION Pension Shortfall

Yes - that would be more than a half a trillion dollars. And that's just the shortfall, not what the outlays are. Is there any other better example than pensions as to what the word "unsustainable" means? The time for paying people NOT to work is a relic from generations ago and we should be reading about it in history books rather than debating it in this day and age:

News Anchorman Fired for Being Conservative?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Was Washington's WJLA TV anchorman Doug McKelway fired because he dared appear too conservative to suit the station's left-wing news director and general manager? It sure is hard to escape that conclusion after reviewing the incident, in any case.

McKelway had a run-in with general manager Bill Lord last month that resulted in his being fired for "insubordination." At issue was a July piece on the BP oil spill disaster in which the anchor seemed to go against the station's liberal grain.

McKelway was sent for a stand up report near where a small protest against "dirty oil money" was held at Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. The anchor rightly pointed out that the protest was small and was peopled by little else but a group of far left fringies that are, as McKelway said, "largely representing far-left environmental groups." The anchor went on to say that this might be a "risky strategy" because the one politician that took more BP Oil money than "anyone in history" is President Barack Obama himself.

Apparently that was all left-wing station manager Bill Lord could take and it wasn't long before McKelway was called on the carpet for his truthful portrayal of the tiny protest. The result was that McKelway officially "resigned," but GM Bill Lord is still claiming that McKelway was fired because of "insubordination" and "misconduct."

I guess "insubordination" and "misconduct" is when you tell the truth about the left's pitiful, astroturf-styled protests. I guess "insubordination" and "misconduct" is when you reveal that Barack Obama is a hypocrite because he takes more BP Oil money than anyone in history. I guess "insubordination" and "misconduct" is when you report truthfully about the actual size of a protest.

On that last note, I wonder if anyone at CBS News got fired for falsely reporting the attendance numbers at the August Glenn Beck rally at the Lincoln Memorial? Then CBS said the rally only brought in "an estimated 87,000″? Even the National Park Service said Beck got over 325,000.

Oh, wait. Of course "reporter" Alex Sundby didn't get fired for that because, a) it was a conservative rally he was lying about, and b) the crowd count was slashed into a tiny fraction that really attended in an attempt to make Beck look bad! Since they tried to make a conservative look less effective than he actually was, I'd be ol' Alex Sundby of CBS got a big fat raise.

That should teach McKelway a lesson. The liberal Old Media rule of thumb is to under report conservative rallies, but over report liberal ones. He really needs to get with the program, don't you think?

63% of Mainstream Voters Say Their Positions Are More Like Palin’s Than Obama’s

Of course, this surprises no one except the far left cranks in the state-run media…
63% of mainstream voters say their views are more like Sarah Palin's than Barack Obama's.

Rasmussen reported:

Fifty-two percent (52%) of Likely U.S. Voters say their own views are closer to Sarah Palin's than they are to President Obama's, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Just 40% say their views are closer to the president's than to those of the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate.

Among the Political Class, however, 68% say their views are more like Obama's, while 63% of Mainstream voters describe their views as more like Palin's.

Eighty-four percent (84%) of Republicans and 59% of voters not affiliated with either major party say their views are more like Palin's. Eighty-one percent (81%) of Democrats say they think more like the president.

What do you mean?…
Not everyone wants to build a victory mosque at Ground Zero?

Obama Supporter Slams President at Town Hall: “Frankly, I’m Exhausted. I’m Tired of Defending You.”

This wasn't supposed to happen. How was this woman able to sneak past the Obama town hall stagers?

An Obama supporter blasted the president today at a town hall event in Washington.
The supporter told Obama:
"Frankly, I'm exhausted. I'm tired of defending you… My husband and I thought we were beyond the hot dog and beans of our lives."

Via Real Clear Video

CNBC sponsored the town hall today but "forgot" to mention the testy exchange in their report for some strange reason. Imagine that?

New Scientific Evidence Undermines Afghanistan War
PR Newswire

NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — On the eve of the 9th anniversary of 9/11, support for the war in Afghanistan took a serious blow today. Simultaneous press conferences were held in New York and Los Angeles to present startling new information refuting the official 9/11 narrative, used to justify the war. Also announced were three major professional groups which have joined the worldwide, and ever-growing, "9/11 Truth Movement."

In a striking show of unity, representatives of "Scientists for 9/11 Truth," "U.S. Military Officers for 9/11 Truth" and "Actors & Artists for 9/11 Truth" presented their findings and unveiled their eye-opening websites. Each non-profit group has launched a petition calling for a new, transparent investigation…..

We Already Knew That: Union Thug Describes Media As "Willing Partners"

As if we didn't already know that the MSM is in cahoots with unions in smearing Republicans and painting positive narratives for Democrats. What's surprising here is that thugs are now openly admitting it. It used to be that the union thugs and the MSM would at least pretend that the media was objective. Or at least just shut up about the plot without telling everyone in earshot. Even the pretense of objectivity is going out the window these days. From the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel via Dan Riehl:
Organized labor is hatching a plan to use prominent Democratic officials and TV ads to pummel Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker over the O'Donnell Park garage accident to try to keep him from being elected governor.

So says a local union official with loose lips who was secretly recorded yakking away outside an east side bar earlier this month.
The article has embedded video (on the left sidebar towards the top), and Dan Riehl has the partial transcript:
2: I work for a union. I work for the Service Employees Union.
1: S…E?
2: SEIU. It's a big janitors union based in Chicago.
2: Yeah, I do political lobbying, communications work, research and media.
1: Oh, so you're like big time in this thing.
2: I'm kinda at the center of like a maelstrom right now in terms of kicking Scott Walker's ass. I've been
kicking Scott Walker's ass for two months now. We've been on TV; we've done all kinds of stuff.
1: You guys did TV?
2: No, We just get Channel 4 to come down with their news cameras and just a …. do news.
1: They seem like they do a pretty good job covering you guys.
2: Pretty good. You've seen that stuff?
1: Well just like the anti-Walker stuff.
2: Yeah, they've been really willing partners in it. They come in with the TV cameras and (channels) 58,
12 come, and 6 doesn't always. But yeah, they've been really helpful. They think it's fun.
1: Do they get the message? Do you think they agree with you?
2: Sometimes. It's not perfect, but yeah, they get our message across.

1: [inaudible]

Stunner… Obama Family Attends Church – Disregards Church Rules

Church rules?… What church rules?

The Obama Family attended church for the first time on Sunday to dispel those Muslim rumors.
The New York Daily News reported:

President Obama attended church on Sunday for the first time since April as an increasing number of Americans believe – falsely – that he is Muslim, not Christian.

The entire First Family walked from the White House across Lafayette Square Park to St. John's Episcopal Church, the quaint house of worship informally known as the Church of the Presidents.

The Obamas sat a few rows back from the altar among about 40 worshipers.

The President and First Lady Michelle Obama, along with their daughters, went up for Communion.

Obama last attended church in Washington on Easter Sunday, April 4.

Of course, the fact that the whole family received Communion shows complete disregard for the Anglican Church rules.
Reader Gini writes:

I'm an Anglican and am enraged Barack Obama and his family received without being confirmed. This is completely against church rules.

Since when did rules mean anything to this bunch in Washington?

UPDATE: Ben Johnson added this on the DC church in the comments:

The Obamas did not violate church discipline, because the church in question is so lax about imposing it. The website for St. John Episcopal Church in Lafayette Park states, "St. John's welcomes all to receive Holy Communion with us." Even at the denominational level, The Episcopal Church and the Anglican communion historically does not require confirmation to receive the Eucharist, welcoming instead "all baptized Christians."

Obama was reportedly baptized by oogady-boogady Reverend Wright at the Trinity UCC.

Hypocrisy: MSM ignoring that Mexico is building their own wall to stem illegal immigration from Guat

Back in May of this year, Mexican President knocked the Arizona law from the White House lawn:
What the MSM have ignored is how stringent Mexico's immigration policy is (more on that later). Well, lo and behold, Mexico is building its own fence along the border with Guatemala to keep out illegals!I kid you not! They are doing the very same thing that they are blasting America for even considering - the securing of our border! And the state-run MSM are totally ignoring it! From The Examiner: Hypocritical Mexico is now building their own wall on border with Guatemala...press ignores
The Inter-Press Sevice (IPS) is reporting that the head administrator of the Mexican Superintendency of Tax Administration, Raul Diaz, has confirmed that his government is building a wall in the state of Chiapas, along the Mexican/Guatemalan border.

The official reason is to stop contraband from coming into Mexico, but as Diaz admitted: "It could also prevent the free passage of illegal immigrants."

According to Mexico's National Commission on Human Rights, 500,000 people from Central America cross into Mexico illegally every year.
And the Guatemalan government is reacting the Mexico's wall just like Mexico is responding to the very idea of our own:
The executive coordinator of the National Bureau for Migration in Guatemala, Marila de Prince, told a local newspaper: "It is not a correct measure being taken by the Mexican government."

...(Erick ) Maldonado (executive secretary of Guatemala's National Council on Migrants) said the wall "is going to make the migrants' situation worse, because to meet their needs they are always going to find blind points where there are no migration or security controls, which implies greater risks."

Vice-President of Guatemala, Rafael Espada, said: "The walls are not the solution to the problems."

Oh yes they are! Which is exactly why Mexico is building one - it works. And Guatemalan officials are complaining that it will make it physically riskier for illegals to commit the crime of crossing into their country. That's right - the criminals might hurt themselves in the act of breaking the law. The IPS news piece can be accessed at this link (hate it when people don't link to sources). But let me use the rest of this post to refresh your memory on what Mexico's immigration policy is all about. From Michelle Malkin: Police state: How Mexico treats illegal aliens
Mexican President Felipe Calderon has accused Arizona of opening the door "to intolerance, hate, discrimination and abuse in law enforcement." But Arizona has nothing on Mexico when it comes to cracking down on illegal aliens. While open-borders activists decry new enforcement measures signed into law in "Nazi-zona" last week, they remain deaf, dumb or willfully blind to the unapologetically restrictionist policies of our neighbors to the south.
The Arizona law bans sanctuary cities that refuse to enforce immigration laws, stiffens penalties against illegal alien day laborers and their employers, makes it a misdemeanor for immigrants to fail to complete and carry an alien registration document, and allows the police to arrest immigrants unable to show documents proving they are in the U.S. legally. If those rules constitute the racist, fascist, xenophobic, inhumane regime that the National Council of La Raza, Al Sharpton, Catholic bishops and their grievance-mongering followers claim, then what about these regulations and restrictions imposed on foreigners?
The Mexican government will bar foreigners if they upset "the equilibrium of the national demographics." How's that for racial and ethnic profiling?
If outsiders do not enhance the country's "economic or national interests" or are "not found to be physically or mentally healthy," they are not welcome. Neither are those who show "contempt against national sovereignty or security." They must not be economic burdens on society and must have clean criminal histories. Those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence, pass an exam and prove they can provide their own health care.
Illegal entry into the country is equivalent to a felony punishable by two years' imprisonment. Document fraud is subject to fine and imprisonment; so is alien marriage fraud. Evading deportation is a serious crime; illegal re-entry after deportation is punishable by ten years' imprisonment. Foreigners may be kicked out of the country without due process and the endless bites at the litigation apple that illegal aliens are afforded in our country (see, for example, President Obama's illegal alien aunt — a fugitive from deportation for eight years who is awaiting a second decision on her previously rejected asylum claim).
Law enforcement officials at all levels — by national mandate — must cooperate to enforce immigration laws, including illegal alien arrests and deportations. The Mexican military is also required to assist in immigration enforcement operations. Native-born Mexicans are empowered to make citizens' arrests of illegal aliens and turn them in to authorities.
Ready to show your papers? Mexico's National Catalog of Foreigners tracks all outside tourists and foreign nationals. A National Population Registry tracks and verifies the identity of every member of the population, who must carry a citizens' identity card. Visitors who do not possess proper documents and identification are subject to arrest as illegal aliens.
All of these provisions are enshrined in Mexico's Ley General de Población (General Law of the Population) and were spotlighted in a 2006 research paper published by the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Security Policy. There's been no public clamor for "comprehensive immigration reform" in Mexico, however, because pro-illegal alien speech by outsiders is prohibited.
Read the rest. Also back in May, I had this related post: Audio: Rush Limbaugh Slams Mexico Prez Calderone On Immigration Hypocrisy
Here's the Blitzer interview:
By the way, since it is well known that Detroit is screwed up in a bad way, Laura Berman of the Detroit News has the solution. In essence, she has a fever, and the only prescription is more immigration: Immigrants can help renew Detroit. Detroit is already a sanctuary city. Since Detroit already has a bunch of criminals living there, why not import more criminals? And that's going to help... how?
