I am increasingly unclear why our federal government is not protecting our citizens on the border. We've read of stray bullets and certain federal lands controlled by Mexican gangs. But now it is just getting worse.
The latest incident is simply remarkable: Husband and wife on a pleasurable boat ride got attacked by Mexican yahoos spraying bullets. Husband is dead, and she lived only because she outran them in her boat. The woman had to leave her dead husband's body behind. The boat chase entered US territory for at least a half mile. Here's the drill: We have the armed citizens of a neighboring country murdering us, intruding on our sovereign soil, and – while we're at it – shipping tons of heroin and cocaine in. At what point do we shut down this assault?
One thing is clear: With the Falcon Lake murder linked above, the enemy is acting with impunity. They have no fear whatsoever.
It is time for Obama, DHS, and DOD to address this issue. Here's Texas Gov Perry:
"It's really become substantially worse in the last 18 months with the drug cartels having almost free rein," Perry said. "We've got to have a federal government who does their job of securing the border, putting the troops on the ground and using the technologies that we've got available. They're just… They're failures at it right now."
Got that right, boss.
