Good grief (Obama speaking to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus on September 15, 2010):

I find it most ironic that Obama, who has by his vote protected both abortion on demand and infanticide (4 times!), to invoke the unalienable right to life.

Glenn Gilbert, editor of the Oakland Press had this a few days ago: Why questions about Obama s faith, background refuse to die. Glenn quoted me in his piece:

"There is confusion about his faith because what he does does not match with what he says."

"By his actions, he appears to be anti-Christian, and by his actions he is friendly to Muslims — the Cairo speech last year, support for the Ground Zero mosque, claiming America is a Muslim country, etc.," Kobus said. "That adds to confusion when his surrogates profess him to be a Christian. His former church run by Jeremiah Wright does not teach Christianity but rather black liberation theology that is not biblical. Also, since leaving that church he hasn't joined one since. I would guess in the end that he has great faith, but it resides in the Church of Liberalism rather than one based on Jesus Christ."

The above video just adds to the evidence. He's no Christian. He is a liberal and liberalism is his god.

It's ironic that the same party that points their crooked finger at the GOP and the tea party as the ones hurling violent rhetoric are the same ones that use Nazi symbols to paint the opposition with. Vile protesters with Nazi signs were caught on film returning to Rep. Debbie Halvorson's office this week after protesting in front of Americans for Prosperity offices in Chicago.

Moratorium only cost 12,000 jobs. “Let them eat cake.”

This regime has many aspects about it that rub people the wrong way. The cavalier attitude towards those affected by its misguided policy decisions might be the most acute. Late Thursday, the regime released its analysis (PDF) of the economic effects of the deepwater drilling moratorium. The report estimated that between 8,000 and 12,000 jobs would be impacted by the moratorium, and up to $1.8 billion in spending by the oil and gas exploration sector would be lost. The report categorizes the effects as "not large." "Not significant."

"Let them eat cake."

In an editorial yesterday, the New Orleans Times Picayune takes the administration to task for its indifference:

Louisiana officials and industry observers disputed some of the premises in the government's analysis, and their observations have merit. But even if the administration's figures are correct, 12,000 jobs lost is a major hit for the economy of a recovering region – and the administration shouldn't be cavalier about that.

LSU economics professor Joseph Mason, who has studied the moratorium's impact, said the government's estimate of job losses doesn't differ much from his own. The distinction, he said, is in how federal officials are framing their conclusions. In particular, Mr. Mason noted that many Gulf Coast communities are small, meaning the loss of even a few hundred jobs can be devastating.

"The administration says 'only' 12,000 jobs will be lost," Mr. Mason said. "This is almost as if they are telling a region that has been hit by disaster – both natural and manmade – time and time again that we'll 'only' wipe out a handful of their communities."

He's right, and that goes against President Obama's promise that his administration would help our region recover from this disaster.

The problem is not just that government officials were, and apparently still are, oblivious to the economic pain caused by the deepwater moratorium. The administration has not even acknowledged the damage from what local officials have characterized as a de-facto moratorium on shallow-water drilling.

Federal officials have said there's no official ban on shallow-water drilling. But 15 of 46 shallow-water rigs active when the Deepwater Horizon exploded are now idle, and four other have left the country. In addition, the federal government has granted only four permits for new drilling operations in the past four months. That many shallow-water permits were granted on any given week before the moratorium.

Industry officials said the shallow-water slowdown also is costing jobs. Shallow-water operator Hercules Offshore, for example, said it's laid off a few hundred employees. Seahawk Drilling Inc. has idled four rigs and put 150 workers on unpaid leave.

The regime's unwillingness (or apathy toward) admitting that its capricious policy of halting drilling in the gulf is having a significant economic impact, combined with the cavalier attitude towards the impacts that it does acknowledge, gives lie to the promise Obama made "heal the Gulf." He either doesn't care, or he doesn't care to care.

It's this attitude—along with a long list of other dilletantish traits—that irks and angers so many Americans, not the least of which are the people of the Gulf Coast. They are "only" losing 12,000 jobs and $1.8 billion in economic impacts from the moratorium.

"Let them eat cake."

This is just getting too easy:

Does anyone even watch his show anymore? As I have pointed out several times in this blog, this country was founded by Christians to glorify Jesus Christ. The Founding Fathers were Christians. The very authors of the 1st amendment used federal money to build churches, print Bibles, and promote (but not establish) Christianity. Church service was held in the Capitol building and most other federal buildings. You can still see that history in the Capitol building itself:

Even our Supreme Court had this to say:

"These and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation." - Supreme Court of the United States of America, HOLY TRINITY CHURCH v. THE UNITED STATES, 1892

You need only look at the historical evidence, which I'm sure someone in the Obama regime is targeting for the shredding machine. Chris Matthews, and others like him, don't know their history, most likely because they knwo what is there and don't want to know it. That would be willful suspension of truth. Biden’s Friday Doc Dump: Defending the Indefensible Stimulus Package

Vice President Joe Biden released a glossy looking report (PDF) on Friday, September 17, 2010, purporting to defend the regime's $814 billion stimulus package. Entitled "100 Recovery Act Projects that are Changing America," it's got to be the much anticipated Friday Doc Dump. Because, well, it's nothing more than a defense of the indefensible.

I read the whole report, and my analysis shows that of the 100 projects—costing a total $8.3 billion of borrowed taxpayer money—92 of them reported jobs 16,693 jobs "saved or created." The projects showing job impacts cost approximately $7.5 billion, for an average cost per job created (or saved) of $447,019.41.

That's FOUR HUNDRED, FORTY-SEVEN THOUSAND, NINETEEN DOLLARS AND FORTY ONE CENTS PER JOB "SAVED OR CREATED?!?"

THIS is the 100 best? This is supposed to demonstrate the wonderful things we are saddling our children with billions in debt for?

As a frame of reference, the median household income in the US is about $50,000, meaning that for these projects that are "changing America," the government spent nine times the amount of a typical job's income. It's changing us, alright.

A few examples of the galling waste:

The Nevada "Smart Grid" project, worth an estimated $137.9 million, "created or saved" 60 jobs for a per-job average of $2.3 million.
A123, a battery manufacturer in Livonia, Michigan used $249 million to build factories that "created or saved" 90 jobs. Average: $2.8 million.
The Kansas Broadband upgrade project cost $49.5 million and saved a grand total of nine jobs for a $5.0 million per job average.
New dormitories at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi: $621,000 per job.
A new roof for the Bean Federal Center in Indianapolis: $592,000 per job.

Some of the projects in the report didn't even bother to estimate the number of jobs "created or saved," and for good reason. They didn't create or save any. The Dallas County Hospital District borrowed $680 million to finance a hospital construction project that would have been built anyway. The impact: Transferring both the credit risk and the financing costs to the taxpayer for zero net job creation. But that's not all! Call in the next 20 minutes and you'll get our special $15 million deal to build electric car charging stations, $50 million to build solar panels that were going to be built anyway AND this exclusive $39 million New York Broadband upgrade!

This is not "absolutely headed in the right direction." This is headed right over a raging waterfall, and the only corner we've turned is the last river bend before the shoals. If this money were put in the hands of taxpayers and small businesses, this recovery summer wouldn't be such a train wreck.
