In response to an audience question during a recent NBC interview, President Obama admitted that he sends his children to private school instead of the "struggling" D.C. public schools. That's despite the fact that he claims, given his status and position, he could "maneuver" it so that his children could get into any public school of his choice:
The D.C. public schools are so bad that even the president won't pull strings to get his children into them.
So what's the root of the problem? Are those schools bad because of poor teachers who are being protected by the unions? Possibly — Obama admits that some unions are resistant to change. But in the interview he said he would rather not "impose" anything on the unions, because teachers have to "feel good" in order to do a good job:
