1. Indignant Over List of Illegals in Utah, ABC Condemns 'Campaign of Intimidation' by 'Vigilantes'
"Fear Factor," Diane Sawyer teased at the top of Thursday's World News in picking up a cause-celebre of the left, demanding: "Who leaked a list of people labeled illegal immigrants, naming children and pregnant women? Are these vigilantes at work?" She soon intoned that "an investigation is under way into what's being called 'The List' – thirteen hundred names leaked in an apparent campaign of intimidation." Reporter David Wright relayed how "we called at least fifty people on the list. Most of them declined to be interviewed," but "one woman," an apparent serial offender, "told us she's pregnant with her second child. She's scared she'll be deported and separated from her two-year old, a U.S. citizen." He proceeded to another supposed victim: "Alma is on the list, and afraid."

2. What? G.O.P. Misses Liberal Sen. Chafee's 'Traditional Notion of Fiscal Responsibility'
New York Times writer Matt Bai salutes political hero Lincoln Chafee, liberal Republican senator turned independent candidate for governor of Rhode Island, for his "more traditional notion of fiscal responsibility" and bravery in pushing tax increases: "Mr. Chafee broke with the party altogether and has now decided to run his own kind of highly unusual campaign, based on the risky premise that unpleasant times demand some unpleasant truths."

3. NYT Standards: Privacy for Illegal Immigrants, But Not for Prop 8 Donors?
New York Times reporter Kirk Johnson overheated on the front page: "A list of 1,300 Utah residents described as illegal immigrants has sown fear among some Hispanics here, and prompted an investigation into its origins and dissemination." Johnson, known for his hyper-sensitivity to any sign of conservative political weakness in Utah, kept the focus squarely on alleged privacy and safety concerns stirred by the dissemination of the list - not the fact of massive illegal immigration. But the Times doesn't always show such punctilious concern for privacy and safety when posting information that's been compiled and distributed (surreptitiously or not) by state authorities. At least not when it comes to U.S. citizens participating in the political process in a fashion displeasing to the left.

4. CNN Reporter Dana Bash Laughs as Kathy Griffin Calls Scott Brown's Daughters 'Prostitutes'
On her Bravo TV show Tuesday night, left-wing comedian Kathy Griffin referred to Sen. Scott Brown's two daughters as "prostitutes," and a CNN reporter apparently thought it hysterical. Griffin, who was readying herself to rally and drum up support for a repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," brought CNN reporters (husband and wife) Dana Bash and John King onto the show to "coach" her for handling Washington, DC. Bash is a congressional correspondent for CNN, while King anchors the news hour John King, USA. When the couple showed Griffin a picture of Sen. Scott Brown and asked her to identify the figure, she responded: "Scott Brown – who is a Senator from Massachusetts, and has two daughters that are prostitutes." Bash erupted with laughter, while King grimaced.
