Much hyped coal-powered 'Car of the Year' Chevy Volts sells whopping 350 units in 2010, while SUV sales skyrocket: "The establishment media is finally getting it that consumers aren't going to be buying electric cars anytime soon: Predictable: Despite green car hype, SUV sales led auto industry rebound in 2010.

Even the Washington Post had to begrudgingly report the facts: SUVs lead U.S. auto sales growth despite efforts to improve fuel efficiency. Case in point is the Chevy Volt, hailed by liberals as the future of automobiles. In a marketing gimmick the Volt - a car that at the time hadn't sold a single unit, is powered by coal and which the government has to pay you $7,500 to buy - was named the Motor Trend 'Car of the Year.' And the Green Car of the Year. And the Detroit Free Press Car of the Year. That very 'Car of the Year' for 2010 has sold a whopping 350 units in that year. Wow! 350 units! We're saved! And that's the upper limit. The Nissan Leaf did even better - 10 units. TEN. But don't worry because next year sales will double! At this rate the hype will pay for itself in about oh... 3.5 billion years. From The Detroit News: Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf post small December sales

Sales so far have been microscopic, and they're likely to stay that way for some time because of limited supplies. GM sold between 250 and 350 Chevy Volts this month and Nissan's sales totaled less than 10 Leaf sedans in the past two weeks. Production for both is slowly ramping up.

It will be well into 2012 before both the Volt and Leaf are available nationwide. And if you're interested in buying one, you'll need to get behind the 50,000 people already on waiting lists.

The 2010 'Car of the Year' not available until 2012? That is so totally appropriate since the car was pushed by Obama who himself got a Nobel Peace Prize for doing... nothing!

Florida just went through its coldest December ever breaking records set in 1935.

The Sunshine State lost $273 million from the December freezes alone — including nearly 9,000 acres of crops.

CBS Miami reported:

If you thought it was especially cold in December, it’s not just your imagination. The facts prove it, according to the National Weather Service, which announced Saturday that December 2010 set a record as the coldest December ever in Ft. Lauderdale. Miami, and Key West.

Forecasters say December was also the second coldest month ever in Key West.

A series of arctic cold fronts put South Florida into the deep freeze, with frost on the ground, crops damaged, and people forced to bundle up to face wind chills in the 20′s. While temperatures were unusually chilly as far south as Key West, where a one day overnight low record was set, Ft. Lauderdale, experienced the lowest low temperatures, giving them the nod for the record. However, even Miami and warmer Key West were still cold as records go.

Of course, a record low in Florida is not the same as a record low in the frozen Northeast. According to the weather service, the mean monthly average for Ft. Lauderdale in December was 60.4 degrees. That breaks the previous record of 62.2 degrees set in December 1935.

The Iranian regime announced today that military forces have shot down several foreign spy planes.

Fars News reported:

Iranian military forces have shot down several spy planes of foreign forces, a senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced on Sunday, adding that two of these planes have been shot down over the Persian Gulf.

Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh told “Payam Engelab” (Message of the Revolution), an internal publication of the IRGC, that western forces in the region have made limited aggressions against Iran, and “we have, thus far, shot down a large number of their highly advanced spy planes”.

“Two of these planes have been shot down in the Persian Gulf,” Gen. Hajizadeh continued.

The commander said that Iran has shot down many foreign planes, but did not reveal it to the media, “and this is the first time that we reveal this news”.

He declined to mention the exact date and location of the development.

Your Excellency,

Having suffered a serious brain haemorrhage on 27 November - and now being treated for acute leukaemia - it seems highly unlikely that I shall be allowed by my doctors to return to the Palais des Nations - without a mask, if at all - to defend universal human rights as I have endeavoured to do for the past 25 years. Hopefully, I shall remain in shape to prepare an 'Appeal' now and again - and perhaps more, if providence should allow.

Our 1st intervention on 3 February 1986 was a written Appeal - on behalf of the WUPJ - to the Chairman of the CHR's 42nd session, condemning the nomination of ex-Nazi Byelorussian, Dr. Hermann Klenner, as one of three vice-chairmen. Our 1st oral statement (12 February) condemned the ongoing Orwellian UN General Assembly Resolution 3377, voted on 10 November 1975 (37 years after the evil 1938 Kristallnacht), equating Zionism with Racism. Our 2rd oral statement (3 March) dealt with the question of "fanatical fundamentalists preaching jihad actions of international terrorism against their sworn enemies: either Muslims, referred to as 'heretics'; or non-Muslims, referred to as 'infidels'." Our 3rd oral statement (7 March), inter alia, dealt with the situation of dhimmis (Jews and Christians in Arab-Muslim lands), providing full details on this historical phenomenon, which slowly emptied 'Arab lands' of their ancient Jewish populations - from time immemorial - numbering over 900,000 in 1948 - under 20,000 by 1986; today they are less than 5,000 (barely ½ of 1%).

Madam High Commissioner, we are providing these 'details' (*), in order to stress that for 25 years we have reminded the CHR (and since 2006 the HRC), to no avail, of that commonplace saying: "after Saturday comes Sunday": i.e. after the dhimmi Jews will have been expelled from Arab lands, it will be the time of the dhimmi Christians. Alas, the 'international community' has shown no interest in "Jewish refugees" from Arab-Muslim lands (representing about ½ of Israel's Jewish population of 5.5 million) - only in "Arab-Palestinian refugees" from UN mandated Palestine, whose tragic plight resulted from the Arab League's 1947 "no!" to international legality and its military attack to destroy Israel. This refusal then to recognise a Jewish State continues today.

The grave human tragedy of the Christians in the Middle East, particularly in Iraq, has worsened dramatically since our joint 2008 and 2009 Christmas Day Appeals to you, UNSRs, and at UN bodies. We are enclosing again our last year's joint Appeal and a recent article by a Qatari liberal, Abd Al-Hamid Al-Ansari: "The Perpetrators of the Massacre at the Baghdad Church are 'the Children of the Culture of Hate." [Al-Jarida-Kuwait, 15 Nov. 2010, tr. by MEMRI, Special Dispatch 3473, 27 Dec. 2010].

This 'writing on the wall' has been evident for decades to all with eyes to see and ears to hear. On the eve of the New Year, we call on you as HCHR, on concerned SRs, and UN bodies to strongly condemn this atrocious martyrdom of a religious-ethnic community, dating from the birth of Christianity in the Middle East. There are less than 10 Jews in Iraq from over 140,000 in 1948. If the UN does not act decisively, the 1¼ million or so Iraqi Christians a decade ago (now under ¼ million) will be reduced to mere thousands or hundreds and all their possessions confiscated, as happened to the dhimmi Jews. The plight of Egypt's Copts for decades is another neglected tragedy, totally ignored by the OIC, itself. The HRC is following the CHR - and the UN is suffering irreparable damage to its reputation in all fields: "for yielding pacifies great offences." NOW is the "time to speak" - and not "a time to keep silence."
