VFW Dissolves ENTIRE VFW-Pac After Boxer Endorsement

Barbara Boxer is one fo the Code Pink 4 who signed letters for Code Pink activists so they could travel to the Iraqi border to assist extremists during the War in Iraq.

BlackFive is reporting today that the Commander in Chief of the VFW Richard Eubank has dissolved the VFW-Pac after it endorsed Barbara Boxer and a group of far left America-hating liberals.
Here's the letter:

I have reviewed the Political Action Committee (PAC) Board of Directors' response to our request to rescind this year's Congressional endorsements. I disagree with their assessment.

It is now evident to most of the VFW leadership, both National and especially the departments, that the VFW has been subjected to extreme negative publicity throughout the nation, and the recent endorsement decisions have, in fact, harmed the VFW's reputation and future ability to fulfill our mission.

I cannot let this erosion of public support for our great organization continue. The apparent lack of the committee to address these concerns will lead to a proposal by me, as Commander-in-Chief, to amend the by-laws at the 112th National Convention for the purpose of dissolving the PAC. Meanwhile, under the authority granted to me as Commander-in-Chief in section 619 of the VFW National By-Laws and under section 620 of the Manual of Procedure, I am withdrawing all PAC appointments effective October 15, 2010.

Accordingly, I'm asking the council for a vote of "no confidence" in the VFW PAC as
indicated on the enclosed ballot.

It was the right thing to do.

White House admits: ObamaCare to raise seniors’ health-care costs, reduce benefits

This headline from the state-run, Obama-approved, liberal sycophantic suck ups at The Politico says plenty: Medicare actuary: Reform will cost some seniors. There's no white-washing this news.

A Medicare official concedes that seniors may have to dig deeper into their wallets next year thanks to the health care law.

The new analysis obtained by POLITICO finds the health care overhaul will result in increased out-of-pocket costs for seniors on Medicare Advantage plans.

What did you all think? You pull $500 billion from the program and things will go south. And it's not just any Medicare official. It's the actuary:

Richard Foster, the actuary for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, also tells Senate Republicans that the overhaul will result in "less generous benefit packages" for Medicare Advantage plans next year. ...

...Republicans say dramatic changes to the program mean some seniors won't be able to keep their plans – a promise President Barack Obama made during the reform debate – and the GOP has made the issue part of its attempt to roll back the health law.

11 million senors take advantage of the program. Maybe AARP can explain to seniors why they helped push the unconstitutional boondoggle through. This adds to the bad news for seniors: ObamaCare: Doctors refusing new Medicare patients because of low government reimbursement setting a new high. The AARP supported ObamaCare so they could stuff their coffers with money from seniors purchasing supplemental insurance that AARP sells. The AARP is no longer the organization it was once was. It is now just another appendage of the liberal movement. Like the NOW and its attacking Sarah Paling, and the NAACP attacking Clarence Thomas, AARP no longer complies with its stated purpose. Should this health care boondoggle pass, no group will be more negatively affected than seniors. Yet here is the AARP snubbing their own membership to help push this through anyway. FEDS to Arizona: Mexican assassins are entering Arizona; We are giving you road signs to help

RWB News: The sheriff said he asked the Obama administration for 3,000 National Guard soldiers to patrol the border, but got 15 signs along Interstate 8 instead.

Drug-smuggling gangs in Mexico have sent well-armed assassins, or "sicarios," into Arizona to locate and kill bandits who are ambushing and stealing loads of cocaine, marijuana and heroin headed to buyers in the U.S., the Department of Homeland Security has warned Arizona law enforcement authorities.

In a memo first sent in May but widely circulated since, the department said a group of "15, very well-equipped and armed" assassins complete with body armor had been sent into the state to identify, locate and kill the drug thieves, who are thought to be independent operators.

The memo said the assassins had been dispatched to the Vekol Valley, a well-established and widely travelled drug-smuggling corridor running north and south across Interstate 8 between the Arizona towns of Casa Grande and Gila Bend. The valley is a direct link to both the interstate and to Phoenix, giving drug smugglers the option of shipping their goods to California or to major cities both north and east.

Disguised as groups of backpackers but carrying empty boxes covered with burlap, the memo said the paid assassins would attempt to "draw out the bandits." Once identified, it said, the assassins "will take out the bandits."

"We just received information from a proven, credible confidential source who reported that a meeting was held in Puerto Penasco, in which every smuggling organization who utilizes the Vekol Valley was told to attend," the memo said. "This included rival groups within the Guzman cartel."

Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera heads what formally is known as the Sinaloa Cartel, which smuggles multi-ton loads of cocaine from Colombia through Mexico into the United States. One of the most powerful and dangerous drug gangs in Mexico, it also is known as the Guzman cartel and has been linked to the production, smuggling and distribution of Mexican marijuana and "black tar" heroin.

The federal government recently posted signs along Interstate 8 in the Vekol Valley warning travelers the area is unsafe because of drug and alien smugglers. The signs were posted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) along a 60-mile stretch of Interstate 8 between Casa Grande and Gila Bend, warning travelers they are entering an "active drug- and human-smuggling area" and may encounter "armed criminals and smuggling vehicles traveling at high rates of speed."

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, whose county includes the valley, told The Washington Times earlier this month that Mexican drug cartels have posted scouts on the high points around the valley to control movement in the area. He said they have radios, optics and "night-vision goggles as good as anything law enforcement has."

"This is going on here in Arizona … 30 miles from the fifth-largest city in the United States," he said.

Health-Care Constitutionality Probed by U.S. Judge

A federal judge in Virginia said he'll rule by yearend whether President Barack Obama's health- care overhaul is constitutional, adding that his decision will be a "brief stop" in the case on its way to the Supreme Court.

HUD to waste $150 million on ’sustainable communites’ grants

"Smart growth" and "sustainable development," are leftist code for top-down central planning aimed at changing where we live and work and how we travel. It will be overseen by bureaucrats in the Environmental Protection Agency, Housing and Urban Development, and the Department of Transportation and implemented through local governments.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development last week announced nearly $100 million in new grants "to support more livable and sustainable communities across the country."

"Planning our communities smarter means parents will spend less time driving and more time with their children; more families will live in safe, stable communities near good schools and jobs; and more businesses will have access to the capital and talent they need to grow and prosper."

The Sustainable Communities Planning Grant Program — funded for the first time this year — is part of the Obama administration's Partnership for Sustainable Communities, an interagency collaboration that brings HUD, the Transportation Department, and the Environmental Protection Agency together to help communities across the country "create more housing choices, make transportation more efficient and reliable, reinforce existing investments, and support the kinds of neighborhoods that attract businesses."

The 45 organizations that received grants (see list) were competitively selected from more than 1,000 applicants from across the country. The grants were judged by a team drawn from eight federal agencies and from partners in philanthropy.

Corrupted Climate Science Exploited Basic Human Realities

Two major factors explain how the Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) people got away with massive deception.

At the first (2008) Heartland Institute Conference on Climate Change in New York my opening comments addressed two important issues necessary to change the course of action against the corruption of climate science. The first point identified climatology as a generalist discipline. The second was the need to explain complex science so the public could understand. Both points were of little interest to the specialist scientists in the audience who think they understand. They know about singular errors but few have a context for the extent of the problem in climatology. This was before exposure of the corruption known as Climategate, but is still critical today. Attendees who deal directly with the public understood the challenge.

Two major factors explain how the Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) people got away with massive deception. First is exploitation of fear – the Chicken Little factor – and in this case the claim the sky literally is falling. Second is their exploitation of people's lack of knowledge or understanding of science.

You can essentially divide the world into two groups. This is said with trepidation because H. L. Mencken argued you could divide the world into two groups, those who will divide it and those who won't. Lack of knowledge or understanding is more easily exploited because of the distribution of people that understand science and those who have no idea and are often proud of the fact. After 25 years of teaching a science credit course for arts students my experience was that 80 percent of university students avoided science courses and 20 percent took them. Less than one percent was comfortable and did well in both. Interestingly, this percentage increased as more women moved in to sciences.

Few exploited these population realities better than Al Gore. Few used it with more cynicism and arrogance than the people at the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) who controlled climate science through the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). They treated the public with disdain and through RealClimate, William Connolley, Gavin Schmidt, Michael Mann and others sneered at scientists who challenged the science.

Gore's movie "An Inconvenient Truth" was a brilliant piece of propaganda. It didn't deserve a Nobel Peace Prize because of the scientific errors that fooled many of those specialist scientists. It deserved the Oscar as a make-believe story in the best entertainment tradition. The challenge was to take complex scientific ideas and present them in an entertaining, highly emotional way. Home Box Office (HBO) producer Davis Guggenheim succeeded by falsifying, distorting, and misrepresenting facts and the science.

The challenge facing anyone trying to counter the exploiters is to bring logic, clarity and understanding in a way a majority of people can understand. You can write a book or make a movie that satisfies scientists, but the general public will not understand. Or you can write for a wider audience and scientists will say it oversimplifies. Many have faced the challenge with documentaries and books about climate. Martin Durkin faced the challenge commendably with his documentary "The Great Global Warming Swindle." A good book that straddled the dichotomy is Essex and McKitrick's "Taken By Storm" (Revised edition). I recommend it, but many say they get lost.

It's a problem most science books face even if they're tailored for the general market. How many people read and understand Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time". Yet it was a massive best seller. Many buy books simply because it's a book club offering, but that doesn't explain continuance at the top of the list. High sales and lack of understanding also applies to novels. For example, Umberto Eco's book "The Name of The Rose" was top of the New York Times bestseller list for a long time. The newspaper briefly added a column that identified the percentage of people finishing a book. Eco's book had a very low percentage. As one reviewer wrote, "The novel, with its labyrinthine plot, deep philosophical discussions, and medieval setting, seemed an unlikely candidate for worldwide success."

It's a problem "Scientific American" faced as a journal on science for general consumption. Scientists reading articles outside their discipline found them interesting, albeit slightly arcane. However, with one in their discipline they realized it was over-simplified and inadequate. As a business and losing market share they decided to boost sales by becoming sensational, which included touting the false science of climate change.
A major challenge for education is to prepare people for the evolving scientific and technologically dominated world. I subtitled the course the science credit course for Arts students. "The Way the Earth Works." Citizens of the global village need a general idea of the dynamics so they can't be exploited, as they have been by environmentalists and scientists with political agendas.

Many universities have different combinations of 'required' courses. These variably include a science credit for arts students, and humanities or social science courses for all students. At the University of Winnipeg, because many Arts students complained about the difficulty of science courses, they created a course titled, "History of Science", but it wasn't science. It was an excellent course and as a graduate student I marked papers for the professor and later as a professor gave guest lectures. However, it bypassed the original intent of a true liberal arts degree. It should have been a required course for all science students. All students need to understand science, but all science students must know the history of science, the social impacts and therefore responsibility its practice requires.

In his 1961 retirement speech, President Eisenhower anticipated the corruption of climate science of the last thirty years. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite. We can only achieve by overcoming the general public fear of science through education. Then they can spot exploitation like that practiced by the CRU, IPCC, and extreme environmentalists or at least understand what the few skeptics who refused to be silenced were saying.
