Poll: California voters ready to pull trigger and commit economic suicide

California is $9 BILLION in the hole. The only thing keeping that number that small is that in CA budget approval in the Assembly requires a 2/3 supermajority. This has had the effect of empowering the Republican minority to actually force a small measure of fiscal sanity in the budget process. One of the proposals on the CA ballot would be to do away with that and go with simple majoritarian rule in the budget process, essentially handing their entire budget over to union puppet Democrats that are well on their way to bankrupting the estate. Another ballot proposal is to get rid of the job-killing global warming emissions standards in that state until unemployment comes down. According to this poll, voters in California will pull the trigger on both barrels measures so as to commit economic suicide. From the LA Times via memeorandum: California voters likely to keep global warming law, toss two-thirds budget passage
Despite the struggling economy, most California voters oppose suspending the state's landmark global warming law, which would place strict new environmental regulations on business, a new Los Angeles Times/ USC poll shows.

Sorry lady. You're out of luck in that state
And how would the implementation of that law actually help the CA economy?
Proposition 23, which would put the new emissions standards on hold, is trailing 48% to 32% among likely voters, according to the survey.
...The ballot measure would suspend implementation of the new air pollution rules until unemployment drops to 5.5% or less for a full year. State analysts say that could take many years, as the unemployment rate has stayed that low for a sustained period only three times since 1970.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has been campaigning aggressively against the ballot measure. The global warming law, passed in 2006, is the governor's signature legacy-burnishing achievement. Analysts say he and other opponents have effectively tapped into voter attitudes toward big oil.
Anyone in California notice that the CA Governor is a nutbar? You guys elected a man who got his shot to fame by turning himself into a chemical factory via steroids. It's like Bio-Shock in real life. And it apparently rotted his brain too. But worry not Californians, because not only will businesses go bankrupt because they can;t pay their energy bill, but Democrats will take exclusive control of the budget:
But as voters look inclined to stay the course with the state's global warming policies, they appear ready to radically change state budget policy. The poll found that 58% of likely voters support Proposition 25, which would replace the constitutional requirement that the state budget be approved by two-thirds of the Legislature with a simple majority vote requirement. Such a change would allow Democrats to pass a budget without any GOP votes under the current makeup of the Legislature.
Good grief. If they elect moonbeam next week, it will be the triple crown of anti-business moonbattery to hit any state in the union in history.
