Let's start by saying the following video is from 2002. But that doesn't mean it's irrelevant.
President Obama's omissions of 'Creator' from the Declaration of Independence, coupled with a League of Women Voters official's recent refusal to say the Pledge of Allegiance suggest that some are more worried about being politically correct than historically accurate.
But while the idea of omitting the Creator or refusing to say the Pledge has gotten a lot of attention lately, the concept isn't anything new.
Flashback to 2002 when Betty McCollum (D-MN) refused to say "under God" while leading the Pledge on the House floor:
McCollum excused the omission by claiming she simply took a breath. But some zoom work by Townhall shows that's a stretch:
