Michael Moore: Having a Gun to Defend Your Home Is Racist

by Van Helsing

Michael Moore: Having a Gun to Defend Your Home Is Racist: "

Marshalling his entire array of intellectual resources, Michael Moore has finally found an answer as to why so many Americans exercise their constitutional right to own firearms to protect themselves, their homes, and their families. Coincidentally it's the same explanation used for everything else moonbats don't like about normal Americans — it's because we're racists.

Only those with strong stomachs and too much time on their hands are advised to watch the whole thing, but if you skip to 12:54 in this appalling video, you'll hear Moore actually castigate gun-owners for objecting to the idea of non-Caucasians breaking into their homes and killing them:

Remember, if some swarthy punk comes through your window to slit your throat for the change on your dresser and rapes your wife while he's at it, it's just social justice in action. Putting up resistance would be racist.

Dem Star Sheila Jackson Lee: Repealing Obamacare Is Unconstitutional

by Jim Hoft

Dem Star Sheila Jackson Lee: Repealing Obamacare Is Unconstitutional: "

Remember as you read this: She’s one of the stars in the Democratic Party.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee argued today that repealing Obamacare was unconstitutional.

The American Spectator reported:

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democrat from Texas, said on Tuesday afternoon that repealing the national health care law would violate the Constitution.

Arguing that the Commerce Clause provides the constitutional basis for ObamaCare, Jackson Lee said repealing the law by passing Republicans’ H.R. 2 violates both the Fifth Amendment’s right to due process and the Fourteenth Amendment’s equal protection clause.

“The Fifth Amendment speaks specifically to denying someone their life and liberty without due process,” she said in a speech on the House floor moments ago. “That is what H.R. 2 does and I rise in opposition to it. And I rise in opposition because it is important that we preserve lives and we recognize that 40 million-plus are uninsured.

She continued, “Can you tell me what’s more unconstitutional than taking away from the people of America their Fifth Amendment rights, their Fourteenth Amendment rights, and the right to equal protection under the law?”

What kind of constitutional mumble-jumble is that?

That’s just embarrassing.

Broke and Spending: Debt Spikes asGovernment Borrowed an Additional $1,500 Per Person in U.S.

Broke and Spending: Debt Spikes asGovernment Borrowed an Additional $1,500 Per Person in U.S.: "

Obama is aiding and abeting the destruction of the nation:

Federal Debt Jumped $463.6 Billion In First Quarter of FY 2011--As Government Borrowed an Additional $1,500 Per Person in U.S.

The national debt jumped $463.6 billion in the first quarter of fiscal year 2011 (which ran from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31), the Treasury Department reports – that’s an average of $1,501 of new government borrowing for every man, woman and child in the country, analysis by CNSNews.com Editor in Chief Terry Jeffrey shows.

If government debt continues to accumulate at that pace through the remaining three quarters of the fiscal year, total new debt for the year would amount to approximately $1.85 trillion--or about $6,000 for every person in the country.

That would rival fiscal 2009’s record $1.89 trillion in new debt added when the federal government bailed out some of the nation's largest banks and President Barack Obama signed his economic stimulus package. (CNS news)

Add to this Chinese president Hu's visit. He arrives tonight. Huge State dinner tomorrow. Will O-bowa?

Recall that a recent trade negotiation delegation to China came back emptyhanded. And of the 4 Americans mentioned below, none are true proponents of America, much less skilled negotiators. Geithner is in so far over his head, he should be tried for treason, given his reckless, not-reality-based, monetary policy. Failed.

The left is loving the new world order, even as they feed their children to the crocodile. Anybody else, even the freedom crushing Chinese, than America:

China's too big to be bullied by the US (hat tip Van)

In Tuesday's summit with Hu Jintao, Obama must recognise new realities – however unpalatable

Tim Geithner, the treasury secretary, Robert Gates at defence and Obama himself have all joined Clinton in setting out what the US expects from China.

The problem with America's exhortatory approach to human rights and other issues is that it rarely works.

This unpalatable reality reflects a bigger truth: the US must stop trying to tell China what to do. The time for that has passed. China is too big to be bullied, too canny to be conned, too complicated to be changed from without. And it cannot sensibly be blamed for America's declining global clout. Some self-awareness, a focus on practical, mutually beneficial measures, and a little circumspection would ultimately work better to stop a war of words turning into something worse. That's not to say human rights abuses can be ignored. But grandstanding will not help.

End of Euro? … Ireland Prints Own Notes

End of Euro? … Ireland Prints Own Notes: "

Irish Central Bank has been printing euros out of thin air to prop up its ailing banks. The whole of Europe will pay for this action, as the result will be increased euro-zone price inflation.

the Daily Bell

What Ireland is doing is a stopgap measure. The printing is taking place no doubt because of the EUs liquidity squeeze and the evident difficult of taking enough money from the bailout fund. But we have to wonder now that Ireland has set the precedent, who will be next? If the bailout fund is not expanded, or if the requirements prove continually onerous, are the Greeks and Portuguese going to begin to print euros as well? What will the Germans and other Northern EU countries think of that? Such actions undercut the EU’s entire modern rationale. It smacks of desperation.

35% of Americans Bought Into Lie That Palin Had Something to Do With Tucson Shooting By Bush-Hating Liberal Lunatic Pothead

from The Gateway Pundit

35% of Americans Bought Into Lie That Palin Had Something to Do With Tucson Shooting By Bush-Hating Liberal Lunatic Pothead: "

One in three Americans (35%) believe that Sarah Palin was responsible for the shootings in Tucson by an anti-Christian, anti-Constitution, left-wing, pro-Marx, antiflag, “quite liberal” lunatic who hated Bush.

After the mass slaughter in Tucson last week democrats and the liberal media immediately plotted to blame the shootings on the tea party and Sarah Palin.

Obviously it worked.

CNN reported, via Pundit Press:

According to the survey, just under half also blame the harsh rhetoric and violent metaphors used by politicians and commentators as a contributing factor behind the shootings, and 54 percent believe that harsh political rhetoric may lead to other shootings in the future…

…According to the poll, the public doesn’t blame Sarah Palin’s website for the incident in Arizona. Only a third of all Americans say that the website – which had an image that looked like the crosshairs of a gun marking Gifford’s congressional district – deserves a great deal or a moderate amount of blame. The former Alaska governor put the website up last year during the debate over health care reform, to highlight 20 congressional districts won by Sen. John McCain in the 2008 presidential election, where Democratic representatives were voting in favor of the legislation.

And 46% of Americans disapproved of Palin’s defense against the disgusting liberal media lies.

Study Calls for Eating Bugs to Halt Global Warming

by Van Helsing

Study Calls for Eating Bugs to Halt Global Warming: "

The experts are once again (see here and here and here) floating the idea of forcing us to eat bugs to save the planet from the imaginary global warming crisis.

Researchers from Wageningen University in the Netherlands say that insects produce far less greenhouse gases than cattle and pigs do, and would thus be a viable alternative to eating meat. Published in the journal PLoS ONE, the study found that pigs, for instance, produce up to one hundred times more greenhouse gases than the equivalent weight of mealworms.

Researchers compared the greenhouse gas emissions of mealworms, crickets, locusts and pigs. Particularly with methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O), the insects produced far lower emissions than pigs did overall. Ammonia emissions, which can pollute groundwater supplies, were also lower among insects compared to cattle.

Researchers did not verify that actually producing insect protein for human consumption is as environmentally-friendly as producing cattle and pig protein, pound for pound. So while the idea may sound beneficial in theory, it is unknown whether or not it would work in real life.

But then, have liberals ever imposed anything inspired by their favored theories that works in real life?

Traditional pasture-based methods of raising animals are actually good for the environment. But our progressive overlords have decided that eating meat is politically incorrect, making studies like this one a cinch to acquire funding.

Morning Bell: Dragon Week

http://blog.heritage.org/2011/01/18/morning-bell-dragon-week/

Morning Bell: Dragon Week: "

Chinese President Hu Jintao is set to arrive in Washington, D.C., today, the first leg of a four-day trip to the United States that includes a lavish black-tie White House state dinner tomorrow night. The full “state visit” treatment that Hu will receive, including a joint reviewing of U.S. troops, is being used by the People’s Republic of China to cap Hu’s career as the PRC transitions power to Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang. Beijing is hoping that this trip can celebrate Hu’s career while avoiding any real substantive issues.

For the United States, however, this outcome would be a major mistake. The U.S. has a long list of concerns about Chinese policies that reflect fundamental conflicts of interest between our two countries. Given Beijing’s interest in a smooth and uneventful visit, President Obama should press Hu on several key issues. Specifically, President Obama should seek public commitments to better policies on the economic role of the state, freedom of navigation in the western Pacific, and nuclear proliferation.

And while the public’s attention is briefly focused on China, it is also imperative for Americans to recognize that the PRC leadership has an increasingly capable military at its disposal. That is why The Heritage Foundation is producing “Dragon Week,” a week-long series of research products dedicated to understanding our security relationship with China. Each post will highlight a domain of conflict where the Chinese are advancing while the U.S. is complacent or even retrenching. The four domains are:

1. Space: In 2010, China launched a record 15 satellites, the first time since the Cold War that any state has matched the rate of American launches in a year. The Chinese Beidou navigation satellite system, a rival to the American GPS system, is steadily outpacing Europe’s moribund Galileo program. Americans must recognize that not only will the U.S. and China interact on Earth; they will increasingly do so in the heavens.

2. Air: The debut of China’s J-20 last week showed that the Chinese stealth fighter program is further along than was generally recognized. While the U.S. debates whether or not to sell F-16s to Taiwan, it is now clear that China’s air force is rapidly modernizing beyond that level. Meanwhile, we have stopped building the F-22 and have cut the F-35 program.

3. Sea: The Chinese navy has built an impressive submarine fleet. The new Jin-class ballistic-missile submarines can carry the JL-2 ICBM, enhancing the survivability and deterrence of China’s nuclear forces. Meanwhile, the continued development of anti-ship ballistic missiles raises the stakes of deploying aircraft carriers in the region.

4. Cyber: In 2003, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) announced the creation of “information warfare units.” In 2004, the PLA noted that its priority would be fighting and winning Local Wars Under Informationalized Conditions, and that information was the keystone to future wars. All of this suggests that, from China’s view, a global conflict is already underway—in the virtual world of cyberspace.

Exaggerating Chinese prowess encourages bad U.S. policy. The first step toward a coherent strategy with respect to the PRC is a better understanding of their true capabilities.

Quick Hits:

  • Fearing violation of U.S. securities laws, Goldman Sachs will offer shares in Facebook, Inc., to only foreign investors.

  • Even as conservatives attempt to repeal it, K Street lobbyists have dubbed Obamacare “The Regulatory Lawyer Employment Act.”

  • Despite promising that working in his Administration would not be “serving your former employer, your future employer or your bank account,” the Obama Administration has become a revolving door between lobbying firms and Wall Street.

  • The House Rules Committee is marking up a bill called: “To Reduce Spending Through a Transition to Non-Security Spending at Fiscal Year 2008 Levels.”

  • Because colleges do not make academics a priority, nearly half of the nation’s undergraduates show almost no gains in learning in their first two years of college.

How to Repeal Obamacare in the Senate

http://blog.heritage.org/2011/01/18/how-to-repeal-obamacare-in-the-senate/

How to Repeal Obamacare in the Senate: "

17 June 2009 - Washington, DC - Senators on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee begins mark-up consideration on the Kennedy Health Care bill. The bill which may cost over a trillion dollars is being debated by both sides of the Senate committee.

This week the House will pass a bill to repeal Obamacare. Congressional experts will argue that the Senate won’t pass a full repeal. They are correct to argue that full repeal will not be passed by both the House and Senate in the next few months, but they may be wrong that a full repeal bill will not pass in this Congress within the next two years. If Senators don’t take two procedural steps this week, they will make it virtually impossible to ever get a vote on the House-passed full repeal bill this Congress.

The House will pass H.R. 2 this week. Once that bill is passed, it will be sent to the Senate for consideration. Once the Senate receives the bill, any Senator can use Rule 14 to object to the second reading of the bill. This procedural objection will “hold at the desk” the House-passed bill and allow the Senate to act on the full repeal measure.

If the bill is referred to committee, it will never get to the Senate floor. This procedural objection by one or a number of Senators will stop the bill from being referred to the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP). If the bill is referred to committee, there is little to no expectation that the committee will pass the bill, let alone have one hearing on the bill.

Objecting to Rule 14 would hold the bill at the desk of the Senate and would put H.R. 2 on the Senate calendar. This procedure could be done with a letter or call from one Senator to the party leader. This would allow the Senate Majority Leader to commence debate on the matter when he so chooses. It is unlikely that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D–NV) would move to proceed to the bill, yet there is a procedure that any Senator can use to force a debate.

Any Senator can use Rule 22 to commence debate on H.R. 2 if they have held the bill at the desk. Rule 22, the filibuster rule, states:

Notwithstanding the provisions of rule II or rule IV or any other rule of the Senate, at any time a motion signed by sixteen Senators, to bring to a close the debate upon any measure, motion, other matter pending before the Senate, or the unfinished business, is presented to the Senate, the Presiding Officer, or clerk at the direction of the Presiding Officer, shall at once state the motion to the Senate, and one hour after the Senate meets on the following calendar day but one, he shall lay the motion before the Senate and direct that the clerk call the roll, and upon the ascertainment that a quorum is present, the Presiding Officer shall, without debate, submit to the Senate by a yea-and-nay vote the question: “Is it the sense of the Senate that the debate shall be brought to a close?”

And if that question shall be decided in the affirmative by three-fifths of the Senators duly chosen and sworn—except on a measure or motion to amend the Senate rules, in which case the necessary affirmative vote shall be two-thirds of the Senators present and voting—then said measure, motion, or other matter pending before the Senate, or the unfinished business, shall be the unfinished business to the exclusion of all other business until disposed of.

If any Senator can gather 16 signatures on a cloture petition, then they could file that petition with the clerk of the Senate. This would commence a proceeding that would end with a vote requiring 60 votes to shut off debate on a motion to proceed to a full repeal of Obamacare within two days of the filing of the petition. It is expected that Senate liberals would use Rule 22 to filibuster a full repeal of Obamacare. This would put many Senate Democrats in the interesting situation of voicing support for so-called “filibuster reform” while at the same time using the filibuster rule to block an up or down vote on Obamacare.

Once a bill is held at the desk, they can gather 16 signatures, then wait until the appropriate time to file cloture. They could do so next week or next year. If the courts continue to declare parts of Obamacare unconstitutional and the American people continue to despise this law, then the probability of full repeal may go up over time. At a minimum, Senators have the power to force a vote on full repeal of Obamacare if they have the will to do so.

If the supporters of a full repeal of Obamacare don’t use the Senate’s rules to force a vote on full repeal, don’t take them seriously when they say they are really want to repeal President Obama’s de facto government takeover of health care.

At the 2009 Sino-American summit, President Obama committed the US to dispatching the head of NASA to China, in return for a reciprocal visit by his “appropriate Chinese counterpart,” i.e., a player to be named later. A year later, NASA Administrator Bolden has visited China (although it remains unclear to what end), yet there is no sign that an “appropriate Chinese counterpart” has even been designated.

This should be a warning sign, since China’s presence in space has been steadily improving. In 2010, China launched a record 15 satellites, the first time since the Cold War that any state has matched the rate of American launches in a year. In 2011, China will launch the Tiangong-1, a spacelab, and engage in docking maneuvers with their Shenzhou spacecraft. Meanwhile, China is striving to complete its indigenous Beidou navigation satellite system, a rival to the American GPS system, and is steadily outpacing Europe’s moribund Galileo program. And China’s network of Yaogan remote sensing satellites, capable of providing essential military intelligence, is also progressively expanding.

In light of the development of China’s anti-ship ballistic missile system, which PACOM Commander Admiral Robert Willard has said is now at initial operational capability (IOC), this space capability is of growing concern, since space systems are a key means for detecting and tracking US carrier battlegroups. Meanwhile, China’s greater international footprint, typified in its multi-year anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden, are likely to increase its reliance on space-borne communications.

At the same time, the ability of the United States to be able to undertake sustained surveillance of China is of growing importance, not least because China is steadily modernizing its nuclear as well as its conventional forces.

In this light, the Administration must act to safeguard its superiority in space. Chinese (and Russian) efforts at space arms control are often blatantly one-sided (such as forbidding space-based anti-satellite weapons, but not ground-launched systems such as the one China tested in 2007), and should be viewed with appropriate skepticism.

As the Administration looks beyond the summit with President Hu, it must recognize that not only will the United States and China interact on Earth, but increasingly it will do so in the heavens. American security has long rested on the ability to retain freedom of action in space; that will only become more pressing as China’s space presence increases.

The Great Depression II

http://usactionnews.com/2011/01/the-great-depression-ii/

The Great Depression II: "

America’s rogue government mercilessly squats atop its otherwise dynamic and productive people, excreting literally tens of thousands of wealth-killing laws and intrusive regulations every year. It is in no position to drag the world out of its current crisis.

By Kirk W. Kelsen at American Thinker

EXCERPTS:

With the TVA, the FDIC, Social Security, and many other capricious “recovery” schemes, Roosevelt’s willy-nilly interference in private business was more responsible than anything else for the Great Depression. The Crash of 1929? Yes, that was extremely serious — almost as serious as the great unraveling that started in September 2008. The Great Depression from 1932 to 1942, however, was Roosevelt’s fault.

The Fed monetary policy under Roosevelt, just as it is now and was during Carter, was an explicitly Keynesian effort to correct unemployment — not a stable-currency policy as Reagan and Margaret Thatcher pursued.

Worldwide, sovereign debt is being serially repudiated. Private institutional buyers are being told that they are going to get a “haircut.” Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, and Spain (the “PIIGS,” ha-ha) are in process of defaulting.

With uncertainty on the rise, China’s ruling class is hedging its dollar exposure by snapping up commodities at a dizzying rate and conducting some international trade in non-dollar currencies. The yuan is already in use as a legitimate world-trade currency because, as with any currency, its underlying value is based on the issuer’s sustained and perceived future productivity. Unsurprisingly, China’s expected productivity is about to rival America’s.

In other words, this is not mysterious, fear-of-fear-itself uncertainty; it is rational uncertainty, uncertainty with a clear and historically informed basis and a known etiology. And with this odd certainty of uncertainty comes the Great Depression II.

The future does not look bright.

Austerity In America: 22 Signs That It Is Already Here And That It Is Going To Be Very Painful

Austerity In America: 22 Signs That It Is Already Here And That It Is Going To Be Very Painful: "

We are entering a time of extreme financial stress in America. The federal government is broke. Most of our state and local governments are broke. Record numbers of Americans are going bankrupt. Record numbers of Americans are being kicked out of their homes. Record numbers of Americans are now living in poverty.

By Michael T. Snyder

Over the past couple of years, most Americans have shown little concern as austerity measures were imposed on financially troubled nations across Europe. Even as austerity riots erupted in nations such as Greece and Spain, most Americans were still convinced that nothing like that could ever happen here. Well, guess what? Austerity has arrived in America. At this point, it is not a formal, mandated austerity like we have seen in Europe, but the results are just the same. Taxes are going up, services are being slashed dramatically, thousands of state and city employees are being laid off, and politicians seem to be endlessly talking about ways to make even deeper budget cuts. Unfortunately, even with the incredibly severe budget cuts that we have seen already, many state and local governments across the United States are still facing a sea of red ink as far as the eye can see.

Most Americans tend to think of “government debt” as only a problem of the federal government. But that is simply not accurate. The truth is that there are thousands of “government debt problems” from coast to coast. Today, state and local government debt has reached at an all-time high of 22 percent of U.S. GDP. It is a crisis of catastrophic proportions that is not going away any time soon.

A recent article in the New York Times did a good job of summarizing the financial pain that many state governments are feeling right now. Unfortunately, as bad as the budget shortfalls are for this year, they are projected to be even worse in 2012….

While state revenues — shrunken as a result of the recession — are finally starting to improve somewhat, federal stimulus money that had propped up state budgets is vanishing and costs are rising, all of which has left state leaders bracing for what is next. For now, states have budget gaps of $26 billion, by some estimates, and foresee shortfalls of at least $82 billion as they look to next year’s budgets.

So what is the solution? Well, for state and local politicians from coast to coast, the answer to these financial problems is to impose austerity measures. Of course they never, ever use the term “austerity measures”, but that is exactly what they are.

The following are 22 signs that austerity has already arrived in America and that it is going to be very, very painful….

#1 The financial manager of the Detroit Public Schools, Robert Bobb, has submitted a proposal to close half of all the schools in the city. His plan envisions class sizes of up to 62 students in the remaining schools.

#2 Detroit Mayor Dave Bing wants to cut off 20 percent of the entire city from police and trash services in order to save money.

#3 Things are so tight in California that Governor Jerry Brown is requiring approximately 48,000 state workers to turn in their government-paid cell phones by June 1st.

#4 New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is proposing to completely eliminate 20 percent of state agencies.

#5 New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has closed 20 fire departments at night and is proposing layoffs in every single city agency.

#6 In the state of Illinois, lawmakers recently pushed through a 66 percent increase in the personal income tax rate.

#7 The town of Prichard, Alabama came up with a unique way to battle their budget woes recently. They simply stopped sending out pension checks to retired workers. Of course this is a violation of state law, but town officials insist that they just do not have the money.

#8 New Jersey Governor Chris Christie recently purposely skipped a scheduled 3.1 billion dollar payment to that state’s pension system.

#9 The state of New Jersey is in such bad shape that they still are facing a $10 billion budget deficit for this year even after cutting a billion dollars from the education budget and laying off thousands of teachers.

#10 Due to a very serious budget shortfall, the city of Newark, New Jersey recently made very significant cuts to the police force. Subsequently, there has been a very substantial spike in the crime rate.

#11 The city of Camden, New Jersey is “the second most dangerous city in America”, but because of a huge budget shortfall they recently felt forced to lay off half of the city police force.

#12 Philadelphia, Baltimore and Sacramento have all instituted “rolling brownouts” during which various city fire stations are shut down on a rotating basis.

#13 In Georgia, the county of Clayton recently eliminated its entire public bus system in order to save 8 million dollars.

#14 Oakland, California Police Chief Anthony Batts has announced that due to severe budget cuts there are a number of crimes that his department will simply not be able to respond to any longer. The crimes that the Oakland police will no longer be responding to include grand theft, burglary, car wrecks, identity theft and vandalism.

#15 In Connecticut, the governor is asking state legislators to approve the biggest tax increase that the state has seen in two decades.

#16 All across the United States, conditions at many state parks, recreation areas and historic sites are deplorable at best. Some states have backlogs of repair projects that are now over a billion dollars long. The following is a quote from a recent MSNBC article about these project backlogs….

More than a dozen states estimate that their backlogs are at least $100 million. Massachusetts and New York’s are at least $1 billion. Hawaii officials called park conditions “deplorable” in a December report asking for $50 million per year for five years to tackle a $240 million backlog that covers parks, trails and harbors.

#17 The state of Arizona recently announced that it has decided to stop paying for many types of organ transplants for people enrolled in its Medicaid program.

#18 Not only that, but Arizona is do desperate for money that they have even sold off the state capitol building, the state supreme court building and the legislative chambers.

#19 All over the nation, asphalt roads are actually being ground up and are being replaced with gravel because it is cheaper to maintain. The state of South Dakota has transformed over 100 miles of asphalt road into gravel over the past year, and 38 out of the 83 counties in the state of Michigan have transformed at least some of their asphalt roads into gravel roads.

#20 The state of Illinois is such a financial disaster zone that it is hard to even describe. According to 60 Minutes, the state of Illinois is six months behind on their bill payments. 60 Minutes correspondent Steve Croft asked Illinois state Comptroller Dan Hynes how many people and organizations are waiting to be paid by the state, and this is how Hynes responded….

“It’s fair to say that there are tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people waiting to be paid by the state.”

#21 The city of Chicago is in such dire straits financially that officials there are actually toying with the idea of setting up a city-owned casino as a way to raise cash.

#22 Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is desperately looking for ways to cut the budget and he says that “hundreds of jurisdictions” in his state could go bankrupt over the next few years.

But everything that you have just read is only the beginning. Budget shortfalls for our state and local governments are projected to be much worse in the years ahead.

So what is the answer? Well, our state and local governments are going to have to spend less money. That means that we are likely to see even more savage budget cutting.

In addition, our state and local politicians are going to feel intense pressure to find ways to “raise revenue”. In fact, we are already starting to see this happen.

According to the National Association of State Budget Officers, over the past couple of years a total of 36 out of the 50 U.S. states have raised taxes or fees of some sort.

So hold on to your wallets, because the politicians are going to be coming after them.

We are entering a time of extreme financial stress in America. The federal government is broke. Most of our state and local governments are broke. Record numbers of Americans are going bankrupt. Record numbers of Americans are being kicked out of their homes. Record numbers of Americans are now living in poverty.

The debt-fueled prosperity of the last several decades came at a cost. We literally mortgaged the future. Now nothing will ever be the same again.

Inflation hits 3.7% in UK after record monthly increase

Inflation hits 3.7% in UK after record monthly increase: "

UK inflation has surged to its highest level since April 2010 as the rising cost of food and oil continued to hit consumers and businesses.

Graeme Wearden at guardian.co.uk

EXCERPTS:

December’s unexpectedly high inflation rate put the Bank of England under even more pressure to raise interest rates, although City economists disagree about how soon borrowing costs will rise. It is also likely to lead to higher wage demands, as workers feel the effect of Britain’s austerity cutbacks and the VAT rise.

The consumer prices index rose to 3.7% in December, the Office for National Statistics reported. On a month-on-month basis, prices rose by 1% – the biggest increase on record.

The retail prices index, the wider inflationary measure used in pay negotiations, jumped to 4.8%, its highest rate since last July.

The pound gained half a cent against the dollar after the data was released, hitting an eight-week high of $1.6056. Alan Clarke, economist at BNP Paribas, predicted that the persistently strong inflation may push the Bank of England into raising rates earlier than previously thought.

NASA's Climate Guru James Hansen Says China Should Lead Economic Boycott of US

by Jeff Dunetz

NASA's Climate Guru James Hansen Says China Should Lead Economic Boycott of US: "

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2k22z8vH128/TGGCEFN3faI/AAAAAAAAH0I/0CDMAUYK7R4/s1600/einstein_www-txt2pic-com.jpg

James Hansen of NASA is not just any global warming Moonbat, he is Al Gore's official global warming Moonbat. It was Hansen's data that was used in Gore's Oscar/Peace prize winning film. Hansen's work is ruled by one motto: 'If God deals you bad numbers--fudge them.' This guy has been caught with more phony numbers than Al Capone's CPA.

Knowing that he cannot prove his global warming hoax, Hansen has a new model, he believes that 'climate protection' laws should be imposed on Americans the same way things are imposed in his new favorite kind of government, a Chinese-Style Dictatorship. As reported in the Washington Times:

The nation's most prominent publicly funded climatologist is officially angry about this, blaming democracy and citing the Chinese government as the 'best hope' to save the world from global warming. He also wants an economic boycott of the U.S. sufficient to bend us to China's will.
Maybe its me, but it doesn't seem right that a guy who makes a living on the government dime is calling for an economic boycott of the country that pays his salary.

According to Mr. Hansen, compared to China, we are 'the barbarians' with a 'fossil-money- 'democracy' that now rules the roost,' making it impossible to legislate effectively on climate change. Unlike us, the Chinese are enlightened, unfettered by pesky elections. Here's what he blogged on Nov. 24:

'I have the impression that Chinese leadership takes a long view, perhaps because of the long history of their culture, in contrast to the West with its short election cycles. At the same time, China has the capacity to implement policy decisions rapidly. The leaders seem to seek the best technical information and do not brand as a hoax that which is inconvenient.'
http://www.pastreunited.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/Tiananmen-Square-BW-Posters.jpg

It kind of makes one wonder if Mr. Hansen had ever hear of Tiananmen Square, does he remember the iconic picture of the man standing in front of the tank trying to stop the massacre that was about to follow, or any of the other human rights abuses that the government of China wages against its people to this day. If Hansen worked for the Chinese Government and called for an economic boycott of his country, he would never be seen alive again.

Because Congress is not likely to pass any legislation making carbon-based energy prohibitively expensive, he proposed, in the South China Morning Post, that China lead a boycott of our economy:

'After agreement with other nations, e.g., the European Union, China and these nations could impose rising internal carbon fees. Existing rules of the World Trade Organization would allow collection of a rising border duty on products from all nations that do not have an equivalent internal carbon fee or tax.

'The United States then would be forced to make a choice. It could either address its fossil-fuel addiction ... or ... accept continual descent into second-rate and third-rate economic well-being.'
I am not an attorney, but allow me to suggest that the technical term for someone who goes to a different country and calls for that country to wage an economic boycott of his homeland is treason. At the very least, in the corporate world, if he went to a major bond holder of the company he worked for and told them to pull their money he would be subject to dismissal. The time has come for an investigation of Hansen's comment's, if he wasn't misquoted he should either be charged with treason or, if his actions don't meet the legal definition of treason, he should be immediately terminated. Hansen has a right to free speech but not when he is acting as a representative of the United States Government.
