Wisconsin's state Senate flipped to pubs in the November Punishment, including ousting the sitting dem leader. Now, 18 months into state-government union contracts, they are finally getting around to approving them. Ah, but it seems that the outgoing dude, Senate Majority Leader Russ Decker (D-Wausau), has integrity:
Decker said he was not comfortable voting for the contracts now that the "people have spoken" and voted him and other Democrats out of office. He blamed Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle and unions for not reaching an agreement on the contracts before the Nov. 2 election.
Nice. He's put the form of his leadership beneath the substance of the midterm election result. If only Harry Reid had similar integrity.
One interesting sideline to the vote. It seems an Independent who caucuses with the dems had to get the warden's permission to cast his vote – for the unions. He's doing time for his 4th DUI.
