Update on Fired Worker: Union ‘Bending Over Backwards’ to Apologize

After the story of Duane Hammond quickly spread across the blogosphere this afternoon, his union is retreating and apologizing.

As we reported, Hammond, a union stagehand, was working to construct a platform that would showcase a USC campus visit from President Barack Obama Friday afternoon. When Hammond showed up for work wearing a hat and sweatshirt advertising the USS George H. W. Bush — the naval vessel his son currently serves on — he says union officials told him to go home.

The Blaze reached out Friday to Hammond's union, IATSE Local 33, to investigate further and was told a representative would get back to us. When another call went unanswered, we were directed to a voicemail that said the union's phones had been "temporarily disconnected."

On Friday evening, KTLA's Eric Spillman reported that Hammond's union had called him to apologize for the incident. Hammond added that the union officials are "bending over backwards" to make it up to him.

Good Grief… Obama Says He Needs Harry Reid “To Continue Economic Agenda”

Yes, he really said that.

The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Regime tripled the national deficit in one year.

(The Captain's Comments)
They've damaged the economy for years to come.

They doubled the unemployment rate from where it was when they took over Congress.

(Source: US Misery Index)

48 of 50 states have lost jobs since they rammed through their so-callled Trillion dollar stimulus bill passed. The Obama-Pelosi economic plan resulted in a cumulative 7.5 million jobs deficit. In fact, Barack Obama is the worst jobs president since the Great Depression.

Tonight Barack Obama told a Las Vegas audience that he needs Harry Reid to continue his disastrous economic agenda.
And, he was serious.
Bloomberg reported:

President Barack Obama urged Nevadans to re-elect Harry Reid, saying he needs the Senate majority leader to continue work on the policies that brought the U.S. economy out of the worst recession since the Great Depression.

"If I'm going to be able to help middle-class families all across this country live out their dreams, then I want to have a partner in the United States Senate named Harry Reid," Obama told a Las Vegas rally tonight on the third day of a five-state western campaign swing.

Reid is locked in a tight race against Republican Sharron Angle, a Tea Party candidate. The contest illustrates Democrats' difficulties as they seek to retain control of Congress in the Nov. 2 elections. Nevada's jobless rate is 14.4 percent, highest in the U.S., and the home foreclosure rate is five times the national average, according to RealtyTrac Inc. of Irvine, California.

Reid, a four-term senator, got 61 percent of the vote in 2004; this year, the nonpartisan Rothenberg Political Report rates the contest a tossup.

The October Surprise for Dems? WikiLeaks dumps the largest military data leaks in history(Video)

RWB News: I will not be distracted by some Anti-American crack pot that hates America so much he releases Top Secret information that puts many innocent lives in danger. We as Americans need to worry more about Nov 2nd than 400,000 documents that the Media will pick and choose from. We can only hope this distraction does not make Americans lose focus on the "Change" that is coming Nov 2nd .

The "October Surprise" as my friend Mark Levin called it. The timing of these Leaks is very suspect if you really think about it…..Who knows with all the dirty stunts the Democrats are pulling?  Three weeks before election and the Democrats seem to be in a bad spot when it comes to NOV 2nd.  This will give the Democrats the opening they have been waiting for to dust off their old and worn out "Bush" talking points.  " Bush" "Iraq" "Cheney" "Torture" "Cover Ups" will be talked about more than the horrible economy we have after the Dems played every card they had to fix it. You also will not hear about the job losses, the deficit, the budget, home foreclosures, healthcare and any other "accomplishment" the Dems couldn't get the American people to "understand"…….Mark my word……"But But But Bush" is coming back

ABC News

The whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks today released a trove of classified reports about the war in Iraq that it said documented at least 109,000 deaths in the war, a higher number than the United States previously has acknowledged, as well as what it described as cases of torture and other abuses by Iraqi and coalition forces.

"The reports detail 109,032 deaths in Iraq, comprised of 66,081 'civilians'; 23,984 'enemy' (those labeled as insurgents); 15,196 'host nation' (Iraqi government forces) and 3,771 'friendly' (coalition forces)," WikiLeaks said in a statement regarding the documents' release. "The majority of the deaths (66,000, over 60 percent) of these are civilian deaths. That is 31 civilians dying every day during the six-year period."

When including military deaths of Iraqi security personnel or individuals the United States identified as insurgent targets "almost 50 Iraqis died on average in every single day reported by the logs," according to WikiLeaks.

The U.S. military long has maintained that it does not keep an official death tally, but earlier this month following a Freedom of Information Act request, the Pentagon said some 77,000 Iraqis had been killed from 2004 to 2008.

More Of That Delicious Foreign Money

As noted below, the Democrats' fumfer about outside money is ludicrous on its face, given the help they get from their union allies and the corporate money that helped Obama two years ago. Another avenue of attack is their claim that the GOP is being helped by foreign money, mainly on the theory that outside corporate groups get money from US subsidiaries of foreign companies - but it turns out that 49 of the 59 Democratic Senators have taken PAC money from subsidiaries of foreign companies. Three Senators now up for re-election - Barbara Boxer, Patty Murray and Kirsten Gillibrand - have each accepted over $100,000 from subdiaries of foreign companies. In Illinois, Alexi Giannoulias accused Mark Kirk of "economic treason" over a fundraiser in China…but went and held his own fundraiser in Canada. (And this is on top of the fact that the Obama campaign in 2008 deliberately removed safeguards against accepting donations by credit card from foreign nationals.)

So much for that argument.

STUNNER. Election Fraud In Colorado by SEIU “sister” group also accused in Arizona(video)

Even More "In Your Face, What can you do about it" corruption from the State Run Media and the "New" Democratic Party . Part II in two days.

RWB News: We reported earlier about Mi Familia Vota, the radical far left group owned by SEIU that turned in 3000 ballots in the final hour in Arizona. At last count 65% of those ballots were  invalid due to the registrant not being a citizen, a wrong/invalid address, or a false signature. Now the same group was just caught with 6000 invalid ballots in Colorado….Another State where the elections are tight.

Obama in 2009 "SEIU Agenda is my Agenda" (Love the Purple SEIU Button on his jacket, Isn't this the guy who had issues wearing the flag pin?)

Click here to view the embedded video.

As Reported by The DenverPost

A federal judge declined to force the secretary of state to reactivate approximately 6,000 new voters whose registrations were canceled under Colorado's 20-day rule.

In a decision issued Monday, Senior U.S. District Judge John L. Kane denied a motion for a preliminary injunction that was requested by several labor and voting-rights groups.

When a new voter registers in Colorado, the secretary of state mails a nonforwardable notice of disposition that the voter's registration has been received. If the notice comes back undeliverable in the mail, then clerks deem the voter's registration inactive within 20 days.

Melody Mirbaba, an assistant attorney general, argued that the 20-day rule is designed to stop voter fraud and duplicate registrations.

James Finberg, an attorney representing voting and labor groups, said voters are harmed because sometimes the voter cards are returned through no fault of their own.

He said some voters have filled out their address incorrectly on forms; clerks sometimes make errors when inputting the new data; and postal workers also make mistakes in delivering the voter cards.

But Mirbaba argued that inactive voters can still show up at the polls and vote on a provisional ballot until their addresses can be verified…

…The motion for the preliminary injunction is one of several federal challenges regarding purged voters filed against the secretary of state by Common Cause of Colorado, Mi Familia Vota Education Fund and the Service Employees International Union.

Stunner. SEIU Offshoot Mi Familia Vota Caught With 6,000 Bogus Colorado Voter Registrations

Do you remember when Barack Obama said:
"The SEIU Agenda Is My Agenda"?

Now we know why.

The same SEIU offshoot group that is accused of turning in thousands of bogus voter registrations in Arizona has come under fire in Colorado.
Mi Familia Vota is accused of turning in 6,000 bogus voter registrations in Colorado.
The Denver Post reported:

A federal judge declined to force the secretary of state to reactivate approximately 6,000 new voters whose registrations were canceled under Colorado's 20-day rule.

…The motion for the preliminary injunction is one of several federal challenges regarding purged voters filed against the secretary of state by Common Cause of Colorado, Mi Familia Vota Education Fund and the Service Employees International Union.

Of course, the fact that a SEIU group is turning in thousands of bogus voter registrations surprises no one.

Yes, Tamika, Election Laws Do Apply To You, Too

No she can't!
A shocked and horrified Tamika Francis discovers that election laws actually apply to her.

Good grief!  Where's Eric Holder?  This isn't supposed to happen.
Well, not to Obama supporters anyway.

Via KHOU.Com -

A voter who went to the polls Thursday at an early voting location south of the Texas Medical Center served as this mid-term election's reminder to keep your politically themed clothing at home.

"This is ridiculous," Tamika Francis told 11 News as she stood outside the Fiesta grocery store at Main and Kirby, where she had just been denied the right to vote.

"That's not going to roll with me. Is it going to roll with you?" she asked her mom, who had traveled to the polling location with her.

The problem is that Francis was wearing a 2008 Obama election shirt. It has photos of the first family during the campaign accompanied by the phrase "Our President Obama." The presiding elections judge told her she could not vote, nor could she help her disabled mother vote, until she either turned the shirt inside out or covered it up to hide the message and photos.

"He is not a candidate in the Texas election," Francis said. "So why are you denying me the right to vote?"

Her mother agreed.

"And to say a person cannot vote because they have a T-shirt with the President of the United States on that T-shirt, that is not right," Sandra Lucas Francis said.

"I said let me see in writing where it says I cannot wear this shirt,"
Tamika Francis added.

"It's titled Electioneering Prohibited," said Hector de Leon, spokesman for the Harris County Clerk as he read Texas Election code 85.036. The code, dating back to 1985, stipulates that "during the time of an early voting polling place is open for the conduct of early voting, a person may not electioneer for or against any candidate, measure, or political party in or within 100 feet of an outside door through which a voter may enter the building or structure in which the early voting polling place is located."

Likenesses of President Obama fall within those prohibitions, given that he is the most visible leader of – and one of the most active campaigners for – the Democratic Party.

"When you are actually going into a poll that has his picture on it you're essentially promoting a party," said de Leon.

And this week there have been similar reports from Dallas and Waco, where voters wearing Tea Party shirts or buttons are also being turned away until they remove their party paraphernalia.

Tamika Francis, meanwhile, doesn't yet fully accept the explanation, but said she is sure of one thing.

"I'm not going to give up. I'm going to vote," she said.

Elections organizers said her experience should serve as a reminder to everyone, whichever political party, candidate, or cause they support that any and all political clothing, buttons, or other election-themed clothing must be left at home.

Election laws?  What election laws?

Perhaps Tamika should try donning a beret and swinging a billy club the next time she votes.

Hot Mic Alert: Alan Colmes Caught Contradicting His Own Comments

After vigorously defending Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's self-congratulatory comments about saving the world from a global depression and condemning the "desperate" Republicans, a hot mic caught unsuspecting liberal Fox News pundit Alan Colmes giving his honest opinion about the situation today.

"If I were Reid's press secretary, I would have said more what I said, that he was obviously speaking metaphorically," Colmes can be heard saying. Fox News host Megyn Kelly interrupts Colmes, noting that they're still on-air as the show enters a commercial break:
