The NWS in Birmingham has followed suit and issued a winter weather advisory for all of its warning area.


Roads are icy in spots across the area and additional snow showers will fall through the morning hours and into early afternoon. The sun is breaking through in spots but temperatures are not going to get much above freezing today.

.VERY COLD AIR HAS BEGUN TO POUR INTO CENTRAL ALABAMA TODAY. NUMEROUS

AREAS OF SNOW SHOWERS HAVE FORMED IN THE COLD AIR…AND WILL

CONTINUE TO MOVE ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.

THESE SNOW SHOWERS WILL BRING ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS TO

SOME AREAS…ALONG WITH REDUCED VISIBILITY. GUSTY WINDS CAUSING

BLOWING SNOW WILL ALSO TO HELP TO REDUCE VISIBILITY IN SOME AREAS.

WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW…WHICH IS IN EFFECT

UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS EVENING.


OCCASIONAL SNOW SHOWERS WILL LEAD TO ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS

OF AN INCH OR SO IN MANY AREAS. ALSO…WIND GUSTS OVER 20 MPH WILL

CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW THAT COULD CAUSE VISIBILITIES TO

DROP BELOW A MILE.
