Irony: Pilgrim descendants banned from Detroit Thanksgiving parade - the 2nd largest parade in the U

The Michigan chapter of the Society of Mayflower Descendants requested a slot in the Detroit Thanksgiving Day parade, the 2nd largest such parade in the US. But their application was rejected by the Detroit parade organizers. Why? The organizers - apparently mindless drones - said that the society didn't fill out the form correctly. Ironically, this comes from the same pool of bureaucrats that regularly turn in Detroit audits - 2 YEARS late. The same pool of bureaucrats that are so dysfunctional that for example Detroit Water & Sewerage no longer tracks money its money. Clueless, incompetent bureaucrats keeping PILGRIMS out of the THANKSGIVING parade. What could be more synonymous on this national holiday than pilgrims? This year's annual Thanksgiving parade in Detroit will not feature a group representing the descendants of the holiday's first celebrants.

..."We have a very organized application process," said Tony Michaels, president and CEO of the Parade Co. "The Mayflower society … pretty much took themselves out of the running by not filling out the application correctly."

He added, however, they would be welcome to participate next year if they submit a properly filled out application, and said the denial was not based upon political correctness.

Which suggests that it was. Otherwise, why bring that up?

June Gorman, governor of the Michigan brach of the Mayflower Society said that her organization had already invested almost $1,000 in supplies for their participation in the parade, including period-correct costumes and a banner. ...

She added that the parade organizers never gave them a reason why their application was rejected until the story was picked up by the media.

Let me just quote a good governor who's state was recently denied federal education money because they 'didn't fill out their application correctly': "are you guys just checking boxes down there like mindless drones?" Good grief people. Let the decedents of the PILGRIMS walk in your THANKSGIVING parade. In fact, give them an open invite for all time because banning them is... STUPID! So this year, mindless drones 1, pilgrims 0. I hope the drones are mighty proud of themselves...
