Obama: “I Don’t Think There’s a Sense That I’ve Been Successful” (Video)

from The Gateway Pundit

Obama: “I Don’t Think There’s a Sense That I’ve Been Successful” (Video): "

Really?

Maybe it’s because he’s the worst jobs president since the Great Depression, maybe it’s his record spending, the failed stimulus, the record tripling of the deficits?

Take your pick.

Yesterday, Barack Obama told Colorado’s 9NEWS that,

“I don’t think there’s a sense that I’be been successful.”

Real Clear Video reported:

“No, I don’t think there’s a sense that I’be been successful. I think people feel that Washington still is dysfunctional,” President Obama told Colorado’s 9NEWS.

“I think people still feel that overall Washington is about a lot of politics and special interests and big money, but that ordinary people’s voices too often aren’t represented and so my hope is that we are going to continue to work to rebuilding a sense of trust in government,” he said.

Predictable: White House Officials Now Rebranding “Individual Mandate” the “Individual Responsibility”

from The Gateway Pundit

Predictable: White House Officials Now Rebranding “Individual Mandate” the “Individual Responsibility”: "

Oh brother. You could see this coming a mile away.

After the court ruled yesterday that the individual mandate was unconstitutional, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius wrote an article today for the Washington Post rebranding the “individual mandate” the “individual responsibility.”

From the article:

Roughly 20 cases question the new law’s individual responsibility provision, which says that Americans who can afford to must maintain basic health coverage… Without an individual responsibility provision, controlling costs and ending discrimination against people with preexisting conditions doesn’t work… Opponents claim the individual responsibility provision is unlawful because it “regulates inactivity… The individual responsibility provision says that as participants in the health-care market, Americans should pay for insurance if they can afford it… Striking down the individual responsibility provision means slamming the door on millions of Americans like Gail…

As Amanda Carpenter says, “Calling “individual mandate” “individual responsibility” is like calling court-ordered community service “volunteer work.”

Senate Republicans Threaten to Ground 1,924 Page Spending Bill

from The Gateway Pundit

Senate Republicans Threaten to Ground 1,924 Page Spending Bill: "

Senate Republicans are revolting against the 1,924 page spending bill proposed by democrats chock full of hidden earmarks and massive spending.

FOX News reported:

Republicans poring over a 1,924-page spending bill proposed by Democrats to cover the rest of the fiscal year are threatening to ground the legislation to a halt, citing hidden earmarks and massive spending that would be enacted into law without a review process.

Two sources who spoke to Fox News are describing the legislation as “a total mess.”

Devolving into pandemonium, a source said “all hell is breaking loose” ahead of a Republican policy lunch in which Sens. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and Jim DeMint of South Carolina were expected to insist the bill be read in its entirety by the clerk on the Senate floor before a vote is held.

They also were expected to seek debate on all earmarks and any amendments. According to one source, Republican anger is aimed at the fact that earmarks are buried and word searches are so tough it’s hard to dig out the details.

On top of that, Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., also is revolting against the Democratic-sponsored bill, saying she will not support an omnibus spending bill unless it includes an amendment proposed by McCaskill and Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., that calls for a three-year cap in discretionary spending.

Virginia Immigrant Arrested For Threatening to Blow Up DC Metro System

from The Gateway Pundit

Virginia Immigrant Arrested For Threatening to Blow Up DC Metro System: "

A Virginia man, Awais Younis, was arrested for threatening to blow up bombs on the DC Metro system.

He says his hometown is Sangeray, Nangarhar, Afghanistan from his Facebook page.

TPM Muckraker reported:

A 26-year-old Virginia man is being held in federal custody after he allegedly threatened to set off bombs on the D.C. Metro system. The FBI was alerted to the threats, allegedly sent on Facebook’s instant messaging system, by an informant before any plot was developed.

Awais Younis, who also goes by the names Sundullah “Sunny” Ghilzai and Mohhanme Khan, was arrested on Dec. 7. According to federal authorities, he described how to build a pipe bomb and said he’d place bombs on the third and fifth cars of Metro trains since those trains had the highest number of commuters on them.

The nature of the messages Younis allegedly sent to the FBI’s complainant indicates they had a close relationship. The complainant, who is a woman according to Younis’ Facebook messages, contacted the FBI’s New Orleans Office in late November.

Barack Obama: Unemployment Benefits Are the “Biggest Boost” to the Economy (Video)

from The Gateway Pundit

Barack Obama: Unemployment Benefits Are the “Biggest Boost” to the Economy (Video): "

First it was Crackpot Pelosi. Then it was Majority Leader Steny Hoyer.

Now, Barack Obama is pushing the crazy idea that unemployment benefits are “the biggest boost that we can give to an economy.”

…We need more unemployed people. That’s the real problem!

From the video:

“This tax package does a couple of things immediately for economic growth in Florida. Number one, for those folks looking for work right now, it extends their unemployment benefits. Two million people across the country would lose their unemployment benefits at the end of this month if we did not move forward on this tax agreement. And economists say that not only is that good for those families, it’s good for the entire economy. It’s probably the biggest boost that we can give an economy because those folks are most likely to spend the money with businesses, and that gives them customers,” President Obama told Tampa Bay’s Channel 8.

And, you wonder why we are in the mess we are in?

Democrats had their chance to raise tax rates on the rich

from Beltway Confidential

Democrats had their chance to raise tax rates on the rich: "Lame-duck congressional Democrats continue their quest to pass controversial legislation (the DREAM Act) and bottleneck popular legislation (the tax deal). In response, political analyst Stu Rothenberg deals out some scathing criticism:

Many House Democrats apparently figure that November’s elections had nothing to do with them,...

Have Democrats Forgotten the Election Already?: "

From Stuart Rothenburg in Roll Call:

On one level, it’s entirely reasonable for liberal Democrats to oppose the [tax cut extension] compromise. Those Democrats have different priorities and values than Republicans, and many of them represent very liberal constituents who also oppose the compromise.

Nobody — nobody — is saying that those House liberals should change their views. If they want to vote against the package that the president negotiated with Congressional Republicans, that’s their right.

But the outrage by House liberals, many of whom were responsible for the party’s legislative agenda and for Congress’ earlier inaction on the tax cuts, is more than a little hard to take.

Congressional Democrats had two years to address the Bush tax cuts. They certainly could have dealt with them one way or the other between late April 2009 and mid-January 2010, when the party had a 60-seat majority in the Senate and a huge majority in the House.

In September, the House ducked a vote on the tax cuts because plenty of Democrats wanted to avoid taking a stand before the elections, especially since they were wisely suspicious of what the Senate would, or would not, do.

Why should these Democrats show some legislative humility? Because the Democratic majority has been rejected by voters, and Democrats ought to behave that way.

All you needed to do to see the self-delusion was to watch Democrats appearing on TV over the weekend. On CNN, Reps. Jim McDermott (Wash.) and Elijah Cummings (Md.) sounded no different than they did before November. The same held for Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

For House Democrats to act as if nothing changed on Nov. 2 is nuts. Totally nuts.

Poll: New Low In Support For ObamaCare - 43%

from theblogprof

Poll: New Low In Support For ObamaCare - 43%: "It's going on a year since ObamaCare was passed. Not only have people not accepted it, but it has been tanking in the polls. From NRO via Instapundit:
In a striking bit of timing considering today’s ruling in Virginia, that ABC News/Washington Post poll also finds support for the Affordable Care Act at an all-time low of 43 percent, down from a peak of 48 percent in November of 2009. Meanwhile, 52 percent of respondents oppose the law. At the extremes, more are “strongly” opposed to the law (37 percent) than “strongly” support it (22 percent).
