Biased AP headline of the day: "Republicans block bill to lift military gay ban"

The repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" went down in flames yesterday, falling 4 votes of the 60 required in the Senate to advance the measure to a vote. Same with the DREAM act that has become known as "amnesty lite." Here's the thing though, the vote for cloture only garnered 56 votes. Democrats control 59 seats. So how does the AP claim it was Republicans that blocked the measure? They did just that, even though 3 Democrats voted with Republicans: Republicans block bill to lift military gay ban

Senate Republicans have blocked an effort to repeal the law banning gays from serving openly in the military.

The partisan vote was a defeat for gay rights groups who saw the provision in a defense authorization bill as their last chance any time soon to overturn the law known as "don't ask, don't tell."

The only thing partisan was that all the yea votes were Democrats. The opposition to the repeal of DADT and the DREAM act was in fact Bipartisan with Blanch Lincoln, Mark Pryor and Harry Reid voting nea with all the Republicans. The nea votes of the 3 Democrats are totally missing from the AP piece written by Anne Flaherty. How is this just Republicans blocking the measure again?

Obama: "We can absorb a terrorist attack," wants to surrender Afghanistan war

Obama's complete quote in the headline is "

"We can absorb a terrorist attack. We'll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever . . . we absorbed it and we are stronger."

That's one heck of a bombshell quote, but is consistent with the left's insistence that America overreacted to 911. It's just another indicator of what most of us already know - Obama and leftists in general don't care about protecting this country from terrorists attacks. As twisted as it may sound at first, they truly do believe that McDonalds is a bigger danger than terrorists. Recall that leftist hero Michael Moore specifically pointed out on air that the McDonalds at Ground Zero killed more people than the 911 hijackers:

They would rather wage a war on cupcakes than a war on terror.  The quote in the headline came from The Washington Post: Bob Woodward book details Obama battles with advisers over exit plan for Afghan war. And as the saying goes, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Excerpts from Woodwards book paint Obama as what most of us know him to be - a big, sloppy, wet vagina (More proof that Obama is the first female President). The man literally is dictating the waving of the white flag in Afghanistan and refuses to even mention the word 'victory.' Check out how the WaPo piece begins:

President Obama urgently looked for a way out of the war in Afghanistan last year, repeatedly pressing his top military advisers for an exit plan that they never gave him, according to secret meeting notes and documents cited in a new book by journalist Bob Woodward.

Frustrated with his military commanders for consistently offering only options that required significantly more troops, Obama finally crafted his own strategy, dictating a classified six-page "terms sheet" that sought to limit U.S. involvement, Woodward reports in "Obama's Wars," to be released on Monday.

According to Woodward's meeting-by-meeting, memo-by-memo account of the 2009 Afghan strategy review, the president avoided talk of victory as he described his objectives.

Well of course! That's what weenies do! Run away, run away! And check this Obama quote out:

"Everything we're doing has to be focused on how we're going to get to the point where we can reduce our footprint. It's in our national security interest. There cannot be any wiggle room."

In other words, WE are the problem, not the terrorists. In Obama's point of view, and that of leftists in general, our fighting the war is creating or saving terrorists. Which - you know - is why they preemptively attacked us on 911, and the US Cole, and the first WTC attack, knowing that we would at some future date go to war in places that they set up their terror training camps. Further in the WaPo article, it is revealed that National security adviser James L. Jones refers to Obama's political aides as "the Mafia," that General Petraeus felt shut out by the regime and calls David Axelrod "a complete spin doctor" (uh - which he IS, so nothing new there), the damning quote in my headline, and this quote again in reference to Afghanistan:

The president is quoted as telling Mullen, Petraeus and Gates: "In 2010, we will not be having a conversation about how to do more. I will not want to hear, 'We're doing fine, Mr. President, but we'd be better if we just do more.' We're not going to be having a conversation about how to change [the mission] . . . unless we're talking about how to draw down faster than anticipated in 2011."

The mission, in Obama's mind, is fleeing the country in surrender, not victory. God help us...

Dems release Republican challenger Col. Allen West’s social security number in attack flier; use lam

RWB News: Another dirty tactic performed by the "New" Democratic Party. Do they really expect people to believe this was an "Oversight"? Give me a break!!

The Florida Democratic Party today said it made an "oversight" when it included Republican congressional challenger Allen West's Social Security number in an attack mailer.

West, who is challenging U.S. Rep. Ron Klein, D-Boca Raton, in a nationally watched race, called the mailer "an unprecedented new low in American politics."

The Democratic mailer, echoing TV ads Klein's campaign has run, blasts West for an $11,081 tax lien from 2005 that was paid off four months later.

The lien notice was pulled from public records in Indiana and is reproduced in the mailer with West's wife's name removed and his address blacked out. But his Social Security number is visible in a column that says "Identifying Number."

The nine-digit number is not specifically labeled a Social Security number in the document. But West campaign manager Josh Grodin says there's no mistaking what it is.

Although the mailing came from the Florida Democratic Party, West and Grodin blamed Klein for it.

"I understand politics is a tough business. I expect to be challenged about my ideas, my beliefs," West said in a fund-raising e-mail to supporters. "But Ron Klein has clearly crossed a line. I'm not yet sure the potential damage that might come to my wife and me, and it makes me sick to think of what could happen to my daughters. My entire family is at risk of identity theft."

Said Klein spokeswoman Melissa Silverman: "This was a Florida Democratic Party mailer, and they have made clear that they will take appropriate action to rectify the situation."

Silverman didn't answer an e-mailed question about whether Klein's campaign consulted on or knew in advance about the mailer.

Florida Democratic Party spokesman Eric Jotkoff called the inclusion of West's Social Security number an "oversight" in a statement that included a barbed apology to West.

"After making every effort to remove all of Allen West's private information, unlike West who refuses to apologize to Florida's taxpayers for not paying his taxes and his bills, we apologize for the oversight of not redacting this information from the public record included in the mailer," Jotkoff said. "To end, while this mail piece does not explicitly identify any Social Security number, in order to stop the crazy West accusations, we will pay for identify theft monitoring for the next two years."

Grodin said late today that West has been talking to lawyers about the possibility of legal action over the mailer.

New Jesse Jackson Jr. Allegations of Ethics Violation, Sexual Affair

On the eave of the biggest rush to run for Chicago Mayor in recent memory, Jesse Jackson, Jr. has been hit with more allegations of being involved in a scheme to buy a Senate seat from disgraced Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Additionally, there is a hint that Jackson was involved with a woman flown several times to Chicago by a campaign contributor.

An Indian-American businessman has told federal authorities that he was asked by Congressman Jackson to begin raising money for Rod Blagojevich so that Blago might appoint Jackson to the open Senate seat that Obama vacated when he took the White House in 2008.

Shortly after Blagojevich's arrest on corruption charges in December 2008, the Chicago Tribune reported that FBI agents went to the Oak Brook home of Indian-American businessman, Raghuveer P. Nayak. The Tribune reported Nayak hosted an Oct. 31, 2008 luncheon where he discussed raising $1 million for Blagojevich to help persuade the governor to choose Jackson. The congressman's brother Jonathan appeared at a Nayak-sponsored fundraiser for the governor three days before Blagojevich was arrested.

There is also an affair broadly hinted at between the Congressman and a woman named Giovanna Huidobro, an affair that Jackson has asked the media to ignore so as to "respect" his "private" problem between he and his wife.

The woman is said to be a "restaurant hostess" but the picture that is being used by the media looks suspiciously like a swimsuit model seen on the CincoUno.com website.

When confronted with the possible relationship, Jackson clammed up and tried to cajole the media to ignore the whole thing.

"The reference to a social acquaintance is a private and personal matter between me and my wife that was handled some time ago," Jackson said in his statement. "I ask that you respect our privacy.

"I know I have disappointed some supporters, and for that I am deeply sorry. But I remain committed to serving my constituents and fighting on their behalf."

Like father like son, I guess. Jackson Sr. is well known for his sexual dalliances.

Some may harken back to their old Clinton arguments and say that this is all "just about sex." Au contraire. This woman was flown to Chicago at least two times by a supporter for costs exceeding the House of Representative's gifting rules. Jackson did not mention these flights on his House disclosure filings. This is an ethics violation in more ways than just the violation of his wedding vows.

Jesse Jackson's Republican opponent, meanwhile, has issued a statement about these new allegations. It reads, in part:

Today, we have been informed by the press that Mr. Jackson directed Mr. Nayak to offer Rod Blagojevich six million dollars in campaign cash in return for an appointment to the U.S. Senate seat.

It is time for Congressman Jackson to tell the members of the Second District the truth. They deserve to know what he did and why he did it. They have suffered long enough under the three-peat of political corruption that has existed for the past thirty years.

We need a clean break from the politics of the abuse of power and public trust. We need someone with the character and values to represent our district with honesty and integrity.

I would suggest that all this makes Jackson's possibility of running for Mayor of Chicago a lot less likely.
